The Toronto Blue Jays exercised the 2014 options on 1B Adam Lind and INF/OF Mark DeRosa Thursday, Oct. 31, and declined the option on SS Munenori Kawasaki, according to multiple sources. 1B | Jason Giambi | Cleveland Indians | Transaction, Fantasy
Updating a previous item, the Cleveland Indians re-signed 1B Jason Giambi to an undisclosed one-year minor league deal Thursday, Oct. 31. He'll receive an invite to spring training.

Second Baseman

2B | Brian Roberts | free agent | Free Agents
The Baltimore Orioles are believed to be interested in re-signing impending free-agent 2B Brian Roberts, OF Nate McLouth and SP Scott Feldman.

2B | Mark Ellis | free agent | Transaction, Free Agents, Fantasy,
The Los Angeles Dodgers declined the 2014 options on 2B Mark Ellis and SP Chris Capuano Thursday, Oct. 31, making them free agents. Each player will receive a $1 million buyout.

The Dodgers are obviously banking on Cuban second baseman Alexander Guerrero to come in and take the starting second base job next season.

Third Baseman

3B | Steven Souza | Washington Nationals | Transaction
The Washington Nationals added 3B Steven Souza to the 40-man roster.

Catcher

C | Mike Napoli | free agent | Fantasy
The Boston Red Sox are planning to make $14.1 million qualifying offers to OF Jacoby Ellsbury, C Mike Napoli and SS Stephen Drew. Napoli earned $13 million in incentives this year as part of his one-year, $5 million contract. It's unknown if C Jarrod Saltalamacchia will receive an offer after he struggled in the playoffs.

Outfielder

OF | Jason Kubel | free agent | Transaction
The Cleveland Indians declined their option on OF Jason Kubel for the 2014 season.

OF | Marlon Byrd | free agent | Free Agents

The New York Yankees are expected to show interest in Boston Red Sox impending free-agents OF Jacoby Ellsbury and SS Stephen Drew as well as Texas Rangers impending free-agent SP Matt Garza this offseason.

OF | Shin-Soo Choo | free agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
The Philadelphia Phillies are expected to show interest in Boston Red Sox impending free-agent OF Jacoby Ellsbury, Cincinnati Reds impending free-agent OF Shin-Soo Choo and Texas Rangers impending free-agent OF Nelson Cruz this offseason. The team may also have interest in New York Yankees impending free-agent OF Curtis Granderson.

Starting Pitcher

SP | Ubaldo Jimenez | free agent | Transaction, Free Agents
Cleveland Indians SP Ubaldo Jimenez voided his $8 million mutual option and became a free agent.

SP | A.J. Burnett | free agent | Free Agents,
The Pittsburgh Pirates are considering making a qualifying offer to impending free-agent SP A.J. Burnett because it would give both sides more time to negotiate a deal if he wants to return.

SP | Jason Vargas | free agent | Free Agents,
The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are not expected to make a qualifying offer to impending free-agent SP Jason Vargas because it would get them close to the luxury tax threshold. The team is interested in re-signing Vargas to a multi-year deal.

SP | Jake Westbrook | free agent | Transaction, Free Agents, Fantasy,
The St. Louis Cardinals declined to exercise SP Jake Westbrook's 2014 option Thursday, Oct. 31, making him a free agent. They will instead pay him a $1 million buyout.

SP | Jacob Turner | Miami Marlins | Injury, Transaction, Fantasy,
The Miami Marlins exercised SP Jacob Turner's 2014 option Thursday, Oct. 31, and reinstated OF Marcell Ozuna (thumb) from the 60-day disabled list in a corresponding move.

SP | James Shields | Kansas City Royals | Transaction, Fantasy,
The Kansas City Royals exercised the option on SP James Shields for the 2014 season Thursday, Oct. 31. He'll make $13.5 million next season after going 13-9 with a 3.15 ERA and an American League-leading 228 2/3 innings pitched.

SP | Johan Santana | New York Mets | Injury, Fantasy,
The New York Mets plan to buy out SP Johan Santana's $25 million option for the 2014 season and pay him $5.5 million. There is a small chance the team will re-sign him to a modest deal. He missed the entire season while rehabbing from a surgery to fix a torn anterior capsule in his left shoulder. Santana is hoping to be ready for the start of spring training next year.

Relief Pitcher

RP | Pedro Beato | Cincinnati Reds | Transaction
The Cincinnati Reds have claimed RP Pedro Beato off waivers from the Boston Red Sox. The team also outrighted SP Greg Reynolds and C Corky Miller who elected to become free agents.

RP | Casey Janssen | Toronto Blue Jays | Transaction, Fantasy,
The Toronto Blue Jays exercised RP Casey Janssen's $4 million option for the 2014 season Thursday, Oct. 31. Janssen was 4-1 and was successful on 34 of his 36 save chances this year. He also had an ERA of 2.56 and was limiting opponents to a .558 OPS, the seventh lowest among American League relievers.

RP | Matt Lindstrom | Chicago White Sox | Transaction,
The Chicago White Sox exercised RP Matt Lindstrom's $4 million option for the 2014 season Thursday, Oct. 31, instead of paying him a $500,000 buyout. He went 2-4 with a 3.12 ERA in 76 outings this year, with 20 holds and 46 strikeouts in 60 2/3 innings.

RP | Cody Allen | Cleveland Indians | Fantasy,
Cleveland Indians general manager Chris Antonetti said RPs Cody Allen and Bryan Shaw are the top candidates to replace RP Chris Perez as the team's closer heading into next season. The team is hoping RP Vinnie Pestano can have a bounce-back season in 2014.

As was mentioned previously, Joe Smith might also be a name to watch for, although the Tribe may prefer to leave him in a setup role. Allen and Shaw will be cheap late-round saves material.

RP | Chris Perez | free agent | Transaction, Free Agents, Fantasy,
The Cleveland Indians released RP Chris Perez Thursday, Oct. 31, and re-signed 1B Jason Giambi to an undisclosed deal.

Perez was demoted late in the regular season in favor of Joe Smith. Smith will likely enter spring training as the favorite to take the role over full time, but Cody Allen and Bryan Shaw could make some noise if Smith struggles out of the gates.

RP | Joe Nathan | Texas Rangers | Fantasy,
Texas Rangers RP Joe Nathan would prefer to negotiate a multi-year deal. The team has three days to decide whether to exercise his $9 million option for the 2014 season or give him a buyout of $750,000. Nathan can void the option after finishing at least 55 games this season. "I want at least two years," Nathan said. "The last couple of years, I think I've proven that I'm healthy. I think I've proven to lots of skeptics and critics that I can handle a two-year deal or maybe two and an option." Nathan had 43 saves, a 1.39 ERA and 73 strikeouts this year.

Texas has both Joakim Soria and Tanner Scheppers who would be more than capable of filling the closer role if the Rangers decide to let Nathan walk. Soria will be pitching in his first full season back after Tommy John surgery, too.
