1B | Corey Hart | Milwaukee Brewers | Injury, Fantasy
Milwaukee Brewers OF Corey Hart (knees) is making good progress in his recovery from surgery on both of his knees this season. Hart will be a free agent this offseason, and it remains to be seen if the Brewers have interest in bringing him back. Head trainer Dan Wright said Hart is close to fully recovered from right knee surgery, and he'll have a follow-up exam Monday, Sept. 16. "He's doing very well," said Wright. "I can tell you with regard to the right knee, about two weeks post surgery with the left knee, he said the right knee feels good enough that I could probably play on it right now. Since we had to take time to have the left knee surgery, we throttled back on some of the other things because you can't do the full activity. But he's progressing very well." He is expected to be ready for spring training next year.

SS | Hanley Ramirez | Los Angeles Dodgers | Injury, Fantasy
Los Angeles Dodgers SS Hanley Ramirez (hamstring) left the game early as a precaution Thursday, Sept. 12, with mild tightness in his left hamstring. Manager Don Mattingly said it's unlikely Ramirez will play Friday, Sept. 13, but is hopeful that the injury isn't serious. "I think he's OK," Mattingly said. "He gets tight during games and he always says he's fine. It's just one of those where I was feeling like we couldn't take the risk right there with him."

OF | Starling Marte | Pittsburgh Pirates | Injury, Fantasy
Pittsburgh Pirates OF Starling Marte (hand) took swings in a simulated game Thursday, Sept. 12, and was looking good, according to manager Clint Hurdle. "I don't know how much pain he's going through," Hurdle said. "We're going to find out more about that as well. We'll find out what the level of pain was."

Marte still isn't 100 percent, so for now, expect him to continue serving as a late-inning defensive replacement or pinch runner.

OF | Brett Gardner | New York Yankees | Injury, Fantasy
New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner (oblique) will undergo an MRI exam after he felt a twinge in his left oblique Thursday, Sept. 12. "I have no idea. I've never dealt with anything like this before," he said. "But it felt serious enough for me to say something and come out of the game. So you take what you want from that. I don't think anything's broken, obviously, but it's just one of those things where I've never had an issue before, and I know something's not right." Manager Joe Girardi said he thinks Gardner will at least miss a couple of games.

It's tough to return quickly from oblique injuries, so Gardner could easily be lost for the remainder of the season, depending on the severity. This would be a huge blow to the Yanks and your fantasy squad. Check back for the results of his MRI exam.

Masterson said his throwing session went off without any problems, and he felt fine. He will repeat the step Friday, Sept. 13. The Indians will make sure Masterson builds up his arm strength before he returns.

There is very little time for Masterson to make it back. At this rate, don't expect him to pitch again this season.

Relief Pitcher

RP | Jason Grilli | Pittsburgh Pirates | Fantasy,
Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said RP Jason Grilli will return to the late innings when the team has a lead, meaning Grilli is close to regaining the closer's role from RP Mark Melancon. Grilli will pitch the seventh and eighth innings when the team has a lead, with Melancon remaining in the ninth, for now. Grilli has given up a run in two of his three appearances since coming back from the disabled list, and he's struck out three and walked one in 2 1/3 innings. "I do like the way that Grilli's developing," Hurdle said. "I think he's getting closer." Melancon has a save in each of his last four outings.

Melancon has done a fantastic job filling in in the ninth with Grilli injured, but that time is coming where the Pirates are comfortable giving the closer job back to Grilli. Continue to ride Melancon if you own him.

RP | Kyle Farnsworth | Pittsburgh Pirates | Injury, Fantasy,
Pittsburgh Pirates RP Jason Grilli will work in middle relief for the time being as he returns from his forearm injury. RP Mark Melancon remains as the team's closer, with RPs Tony Watson and Kyle Farnsworth serving as setup men.
