Fancy fantasy football: Mikel Leshoure, David Wilson

By Nicholas Minnix

The NFL announced its penalty on Mikel Leshoure for his violations of the league's substance-abuse policy: a two-game suspension as well as the forfeiture of two additional game checks.

That pair of contests is the only thing that really affects his fantasy outlook. That's also about the amount of time that Jahvid Best will need to sustain his next concussion. Hey, not my wish, just a sad reality.

If LeShoure looks good - even OK - this preseason, he's going to move up my priority list. He can't be far off, judging from reports like this one. It's not hard to imagine a scenario in which he eventually becomes the Detroit Lions' featured back.

His stock will probably shoot up in the next couple of months, though. Hopefully, future overeager drafters will leave some room for LeShoure's in-season stock to exceed his draft stock.

A lot of coaches spew words from their behinds, but when they say things like "I don't know if we've had a guy as explosive, regardless of position, here," you should pay attention.

You can bet that Kevin Gilbride, with Tom Coughlin's blessing, will find ways to utilize David Wilson's gifts. The New York Giants didn't draft the 5-foot-10, 205-pound running back in the first round because he looks good in street clothes.

Ahmad Bradshaw will be the top ball-carrier on the depth chart, but you're well aware of his propensity to miss time. Wilson has a lot to learn between now and September, but your league-mates are nuts if they wait to let you take a flier on talent like that anywhere near the end of your draft.
