The other, other St. Louis Rams wide receiver to target
October 11, 2012 @ 15:19:17 PDT
While many fantasy owners are hopping on the bandwagons of Brandon Gibson and Chris Givens, I have a gut feeling that the St. Louis Rams receiver to emerge as Danny Amendola's replacement will be Steve E. Smith.
The veteran pass-catcher's game most closely resembles Amendola's, who is recovering from a collarbone separation. The PPR machine will miss up to seven weeks, and the Rams desperately need a sure-handed chain-mover in the meantime. That's precisely where Smith's style of play fits in.
Injuries have prevented Smith from living up to his potential in recent years. He is healthy now, and actually has been scratched the past few weeks in favor of rookie Brian Quick.
What do you have to lose by adding him to your roster? Smith is available in 97 percent of leagues polled. Even if you don't have the guts to play him this week - and you could do much worse - he will be on your roster in case this plays out in your favor. I have added him in as many PPR leagues as possible.
"I think Steve Smith is a tremendous inside receiver. I look for him to take advantage of this opportunity."
So do I, Sam, so do I....
