The Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to re-sign either impending free-agent QB Charlie Batch or QB Byron Leftwich this offseason to be their No. 2 QB.

QB | Robert Griffin III | Washington Redskins | Injury, Fantasy
Updating an ongoing story, Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III (knee) underwent surgery Wednesday, Jan. 9, to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament and lateral collateral ligament. Griffin will stay in Florida for the foreseeable future and begin his rehab. The first six to eight weeks are believed to be critical in his rehabilitation.

QB | Ryan Nassib | NFL Draft Prospect | Draft
Syracuse QB Ryan Nassib's representative said that Nassib has been invited to play in the 2013 Senior Bowl.

QB | Geno Smith | NFL Draft Prospect | Draft
West Virginia QB Geno Smith said on his Twitter page that he has turned down an invitation to play in the Senior Bowl.

QB | Peyton Manning | Denver Broncos | Injury, Fantasy
Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning has been wearing a glove on his right hand to help grip the football, the result of his multiple neck surgeries. "I certainly don't think I would have had to wear the glove had I not been injured last (season)," Manning said. "It's part of my injury, some things that I've had to adjust." Manning threw for 304 yards and three touchdowns in Week 17 wearing the glove. He also amassed 339 yards and three touchdowns with an interception in Week 16 with the glove on.

QB | Christian Ponder | Minnesota Vikings | Fantasy
Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said QB Christian Ponder is the team's starting quarterback moving forward; however, backup QB Joe Webb will have to compete for the No. 2 job. "(Webb will) be a guy that will compete for the No. 2 spot again next year, barring something that we may end up doing in our personnel meetings," Frazier said. "But we'll discuss Joe's position and everyone's position in our personnel meetings and then we'll make a decision what's best."

QB | Andy Dalton | Cincinnati Bengals | Fantasy
Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton was sacked 46 times this season, the most sacks of a Bengals QB since QBs Akili Smith and Scott Mitchell were dropped 52 times in 2000. However, offensive coordinator Jay Gruden feels the offensive line improved as the season went on. "This is going to sound asinine, probably, but I think from a protection standpoint, as far as protection and blitzes, we're as good as anybody," Gruden said. "A lot of the sacks were Andy stepping up and there were sometimes the pocket seemed collapsed. We need to work on that."

QB | Tim Tebow | New York Jets | Fantasy
The New York Jets wanted to use QB Tim Tebow at tailback this year, but they never got around to doing so, according to a person with knowledge of the team's plans. It was the team's original vision when they initially traded for him, and it was going to be more than just in an emergency situation. However, former offensive coordinator Tony Sparano didn't make that happen. It's unclear if the team's next offensive coordinator will be willing to work Tebow in as a tailback, which would keep Tebow around.

Running Back

RB | Adrian Peterson | Minnesota Vikings | Injury, Fantasy
With just under 35 weeks to go before the start of the 2013 NFL regular season, there is a possibility Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III (knee) could return in time if comparing his injury to other star players. New England Patriots WR Wes Welker returned 32 weeks after having anterior cruciate ligament/medial collateral ligament surgery, while Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson returned in 37 weeks post-surgery.

RB | Darren McFadden | Oakland Raiders | Fantasy
The Oakland Raiders offense in 2013 will continue to revolve around QB Carson Palmer and RB Darren McFadden. Palmer is due to make $13 million next season, but the Raiders would face a $17 million salary cap hit if they were to let him go. McFadden is due to make $5.6 million in the last year of his contract. Some teams might be interested in trading for McFadden; however, the offers probably wouldn't be that big for an oft-injured back coming off his worst season.

RB | BenJarvus Green-Ellis | Cincinnati Bengals | Fantasy
Cincinnati Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis had a good, but not great, season, but offensive coordinator Jay Gruden feels his team lacked a speedy "gamebreaker" at running back. The team would like to find a speed back to complement Green-Ellis, and Gruden points to the draft. "We do probably need some kind of pace-changer, game-changer, speed, some breakaway-type thing," Gruden said.

RB | Felix Jones | Dallas Cowboys | Transaction, Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys RB Felix Jones is in the final year of his deal, and he is unlikely to be re-signed, especially since young RBs Lance Dunbar and Phillip Tanner showed promise behind RB DeMarco Murray.

RB | Knowshon Moreno | Denver Broncos | Fantasy
Denver Broncos RB Knowshon Moreno has been running well since taking over for the injured RB Willis McGahee (knee). In four of his six starts, Moreno has totaled more than 100 total yards from scrimmage, and he is tied with McGahee for the team lead in rushing touchdowns with four.

RB | Willis McGahee | Denver Broncos | Injury, Fantasy
Denver Broncos head coach John Fox praised RB Willis McGahee (knee) after his first day back at practice Tuesday, Jan. 8, since returning from the Injured Reserve/ Designated to Return list. "He's worked very hard," Fox said. "(Head Athletic Trainer Steve Antonopoulos), his staff and Willis have worked very hard to get him back. He had a good first day." McGahee is eligible to return to game action for the AFC Championship Game, should the Broncos advance past this weekend's Divisional Round game.

RB | Ryan Mathews | San Diego Chargers | Fantasy
The San Diego Chargers are beginning to wonder if RB Ryan Mathews will ever become the type of player they thought he would become when they selected him 12th overall in the 2010 NFL Draft. The team would like him to become more polished and seize the full-time running back role. San Diego used RB Ronnie Brown in a receiving role this year in order to keep Mathews fresh; Brown ran a passing route on 60.4 percent of his offensive snaps, while Mathews ran routes 42.1 percent of the time. Mathews still believes he can be a game-changing back for the Chargers, however. "It's time for me to show them why they bumped up all the spots they did to draft me," Mathews, 25, said. "I've shown greatness at times, and I've shown I can be the worst player at times. You've got to be consistent, and that's what I plan to do, Just be a little more consistent player and just be the guy they knew when they drafted."

RB | Reggie Bush | Miami Dolphins | Free Agents
Miami Dolphins running back Reggie Bush, a free-agent this summer, wants to return to the Dolphins. "Yeah, I definitely think I have a lot left to show, a lot left to prove, a lot left to give to this game. Like I said, hopefully we can get something done as soon as possible."

RB | Steven Jackson | St. Louis Rams | Fantasy
The St. Louis Rams adjusted RB Steven Jackson's contract Dec. 29 that moves the final year of signing bonus proration of $1.899 million from 2013 to the current league year, which begins March 12. In his previous restructure of his deal Sept. 8, the final year of his contract at $7 million would void if he was on the roster five days after the Super Bowl Feb. 3. The new fix gives Jackson sole control of the void of his contract. There won't be any savings against the team's 2013 salary cap, though. Jackson is hoping he'll have discussions on a new contract with the team soon.

Harvin will return to Minnesota from Florida later this month for an exit physical. "He has to go through his physical, and I'll learn more once he gets through (it)," Frazier said.

WR | Dez Bryant | Dallas Cowboys | Injury, Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant (finger) underwent successful surgery Tuesday, Jan. 8, on his left index finger. He'll likely be out for parts of the team's offseason conditioning program, and he won't be rushed back this summer. Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden said Tuesday, Jan. 8, that he would like to develop TE Jermaine Gresham more. "Jermaine just needs to work on his consistency. TE | Vernon Davis | San Francisco 49ers | Fantasy
San Francisco 49ers TE Vernon Davis finished the regular season with 41 receptions, 548 yards and five touchdowns, all his lowest totals since the 2008 season. "It is a different feeling for me because it's been a tough season as far as just the feeling of being involved," Davis said. "To me, it's not a bad thing, because it's something I had to get used to this year. Each and every season in the past, I'm used to helping the team where I'm just catching balls and things like that. This year's been a little different."
