Wyoming QB Brett Smith has decided to forgo his senior season of eligibility and enter the 2014 NFL Draft.

QB | Eli Manning | New York Giants | Fantasy
New York Giants wide receivers coach Kevin M. Gilbride said Tuesday, Jan. 7, in a satellite radio interview that the struggles of QB Eli Manning were due to the collapse of the offensive line. "It just made it impossible for our quarterback to function," Gilbride said. "He's a guy where if you give him enough time, he's always going to be throwing the ball to the right person, he's going to know what you're doing defensively, he's going to see through your disguises, he's going to be an accurate passer. But he's not a scrambler and you've got to give him some help."

QB | Johnny Manziel | NFL Draft Prospect | Draft, Fantasy
Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel is expected to make his decision on whether to enter the 2014 NFL Draft public Wednesday, Jan. 8, according to two sources. Manziel is expected to announce that he will forgo his final two years in college to enter the draft. Manziel said he was still undecided Monday, Jan. 6. He's rated as the No. 14 player on ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr.'s big board, and analyst Todd McShay projects him to go fourth overall in this year's draft.

QB | Blaine Gabbert | Jacksonville Jaguars | Fantasy
Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch said he saw improvement in QB Blaine Gabbert in the second half of the season despite the fact that the team went with QB Chad Henne down the stretch. "I feel like you certainly see a nice evolution," Fisch said. "Of course, it's different playing games, but I do think his maturity level showed through. We could have been a storyline and we weren't. When you make a change in the starting quarterback, that can happen. He handled himself in such a professional manner that maybe there was growth from a maturity standpoint for him." There is speculation that Gabbert will be traded or released this offseason, but general manager Dave Caldwell said he would like Gabbert to return and compete for the job.

QB | Nick Foles | Philadelphia Eagles | Fantasy
Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles said he needs to get better and he has a lot to work on. "I know everybody wants to label this, after a good season, but I need to get better," said Foles. "I don't look at this season as, 'Aw, man I did good!' I have a lot of stuff to work on . . . We didn't win the last game, and a lot of that goes on the quarterback . . . I'm going to keep working on my footwork. I'm going to keep working on my throwing mechanics, continue on reading defenses, every little thing I can think of."

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (illness) is dealing with a cold. Brady said he will be there for the team's divisional game, and hopes to avoid landing on the team's injury report.

Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick sounded as if he was ready to move on to a new organization when interviewed Monday, Jan. 6. "It's hard to sum up my time here. Everything has been so surreal and has happened so abruptly," said Vick right before cleaning out his locker Monday. "The thing I do know is I appreciate the fans, I appreciate this organization, I appreciate the relationships and the teammates I've been able to (have) in this locker room. There's a lot of guys in here I'll always keep in contact with and I'll consider my brothers." Vick still thinks he can play at a high level and be a starting quarterback in the NFL.

Carolina Panthers WR Steve Smith (knee) is expected to practice on a limited basis Wednesday, Jan. 8, according to a league source. Smith has vowed to play in the NFC Divisional playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers Sunday, Jan. 12.

If you're in a postseason fantasy pool or daily league, it's a good idea to wait to see Smith's practice status and the team's official injury report which comes out Friday before submitting him into your active fantasy lineup.

I've been here for seven years, it's not like I've only been here for three years and now I'm a free agent. Shoot, I dang near spent my whole career here, so I would love to finish here." Jones improved on his dropped passes in his last three seasons and had a career-high 817 receiving yards in 14 games this year.

The 6-foot-5, 245-pounder also played four seasons of minor league baseball with the Baltimore Orioles and Boston Red Sox. He caught 30 passes for 591 yards and nine touchdowns in his only season of college football.

Denver Broncos LB Von Miller (knee) will undergo surgery to fix the torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee Wednesday, Jan. 8, and his recovery is expected to take between six and nine months. He has been wearing a brace on his knee for support recently and has been receiving treatment at the team's facility since he suffered the injury. The surgery will be performed by a surgeon in Dr. James Andrews' group. Miller didn't suffer any damage to any other ligament in his knee. He's expected to miss the team's offseason program and likely some of training camp.

Oakland Raiders head coach Dennis Allen's future with the team is in question, and there appears to be a difference in opinion between Allen and owner Mark Davis on the fate of several assistant coaches. The two will have another meeting Tuesday, Jan. 7, and the main topic will be Allen's vision for the club. Allen wants to keep his assistant coaches with two-year contracts, but he's being met with resistance from Davis, who wants only one-year deals for the coaches. Allen is expected to be kept on as head coach. Only offensive coordinator Greg Olson and linebackers coach Bob M. Sanders are currently under contract.
