Fantasy Football Daily Rundown: Thursday, Nov. 7

by KFFL Staff on November 7, 2013 @ 09:22:12 PDT

Quarterback

QB | Aaron Rodgers | Green Bay Packers | Injury, Fantasy
Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) said he's in quite a bit of pain still and has had trouble sleeping. The doctors have yet to give a firm timetable for his return, and head coach Mike McCarthy said Rodgers is on "a week-to-week" mindset.

QB | Jay Cutler | Chicago Bears | Injury, Fantasy
Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler (groin) is practicing Thursday, Nov. 7. This is a great sign that leads us to believe he'll be active in Week 10.

This is a great sign that gives optimism that he could be active in Week 10. They are tied with their Week 10 foe, the Detroit Lions, for first place in the NFC North. The team could also opt to give him one more week since Josh McCown has been effective.

QB | Sam Bradford | St. Louis Rams | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, St. Louis Rams QB Sam Bradford (knee) had his knee surgery delayed because of swelling in his knee, according to head coach Jeff Fisher. "It will be in the near future," Fisher said. "There was a little bit of swelling from the work that he was doing. Nowadays, the physicians prefer to really strengthen the knee, strengthen the quad area and then, of course, make sure that most of the swelling is down. During some of the rehab, he swelled up a little bit, so we just decided to wait. Nothing to be alarmed about." The team does not have a timetable for Bradford's return, but he's expected to return in time for next season.

QB | Michael Vick | Philadelphia Eagles | Injury, Fantasy
Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick (hamstring) was limited in practice again Thursday, Nov. 7.

There's a chance Vick could play this week, but we expect the team to give him another week and ride Nick Foles' hot hand.

QB | Ryan Tannehill | Miami Dolphins | Fantasy
Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill is defending OG Richie Incognito, saying he's been a great teammate to him. "If you asked Jonathan Martin who his best friend is on this team two weeks ago, he'd say Richie Incognito," Tannehill said. "First guy to stand up for Jonathan when anything went down on the field, any kind of tussle, Richie was the first guy there. When they wanted to hang out outside of football, who was together, Richie and Jonathan. I'm not in those guy shoes. I can't explain what's going on."

QB | Peyton Manning | Denver Broncos | Injury, Fantasy
Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (ankle) practiced in full Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Get Manning back into your lineups coming off the bye week.

QB | EJ Manuel | Buffalo Bills | Injury, Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Buffalo Bills QB EJ Manuel (knee) is expected to start in the team's Week 10 game. Head coach Doug Marrone wants to see how Manuel practices during the week before making a formal announcement. "I definitely feel like I can go," Manuel said. "It's still up to Coach Marrone as far as what we want to do as a team, but I definitely feel confident going into Sunday."

QB | Terrelle Pryor | Oakland Raiders | Injury, Fantasy
Oakland Raiders QB Terrelle Pryor (knee) is participating in practice Wednesday, Nov. 6. Pryor was showing no lingering effects from a knee injury he suffered in Week 9.

Great news for Pryor owners as this likely means he is on track to start in the team's Week 10 game. Keep an eye on practice reports the rest of the week, but plan on using him as you normally would.

QB | Joe Flacco | Baltimore Ravens | Fantasy
Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh is not blaming his offensive line after QB Joe Flacco was sacked a season-high five times against the Cleveland Browns in their Week 9 loss. "I feel like our offensive line blocked a lot better than the result might have shown in terms of number of yards," Harbaugh said. "When you watch the tape, there are a lot of really good blocks going on there." Harbaugh also suggested that Flacco needs to do a better job of getting rid of the ball sooner.

Running Back

RB | David Wilson | New York Giants | Injury, Fantasy
New York Giants RB David Wilson (neck) is likely headed to Injured Reserve to make room for RB Andre Brown (leg) on the active roster.

If you haven't already, you should seriously considering dropping Wilson from your roster. The move will likely become official later today.

RB | Peyton Hillis | New York Giants | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
New York Giants RB Peyton Hillis is expected to be a big part of the team's plan for Week 10 against the Oakland Raiders. Hillis is expected to be the primary option, with RBs Andre Brown and Brandon Jacobs sprinkled into the equation. "I'm pretty sure they are going to switch us in, switch us out," Brown said Wednesday, Nov. 6.

For fantasy purposes, Hillis is your best best as a low-end RB2 or flex play, followed by Jacobs. Brown isn't worth using in any fantasy format, as he makes his way back from injury. However, monitor the situation and be ready to grab him off the waiver wire if he plays better than expected. The job is likely an open competition right now, with the hot hand getting the bulk of the carries going forward.

RB | Doug Martin | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano said Wednesday, Nov. 6, that RB Doug Martin (shoulder) will only be allowed to return if team doctors believe Martin won't be subject to further damage to his shoulder by playing. Martin said he is day to day, and believes it will be his decisions whether or not he'll be able to return this season.

RB | Marshawn Lynch | Seattle Seahawks | Injury, Fantasy
Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (knee) was listed as a limited participant Wednesday, Nov. 6, in practice.

It's customary for Lynch to rest during mid-week practices, and he hasn't missed any game time. Start him in fantasy leagues as you normally would. He has a favorable matchup against an Atlanta Falcons rush defense that ranks 20th in the league, allowing 116.2 yards per game on the ground.

RB | Frank Gore | San Francisco 49ers | Injury, Fantasy
San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore (ankle) was able to take part in a full practice session Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Start Gore as you normally would in all fantasy leagues, but know he has a tough matchup against the Carolina Panthers. They rank first in the NFC, and second in the NFL, against the rush, allowing just 79.1 yards per game on the ground. Carolina has also yielded an NFC-low two rushing touchdowns through eight games.

RB | Rashard Mendenhall | Arizona Cardinals | Injury, Fantasy
Arizona Cardinals RB Rashard Mendenhall (toe) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Nov. 6.

RB | DeMarco Murray | Dallas Cowboys | Injury, Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (knee) practiced in full Wednesday, Nov. 6.

The good news is that Murray appears to be fully healed from his knee ailment, and he said he "felt fine" in Week 9. The disappointing side: Murray ran just four times for 33 yards, and the Cowboys remain heavily unbalance on offense in favor of the pass. Murray should be in your lineup as an RB2.

RB | Maurice Jones-Drew | Jacksonville Jaguars | Fantasy
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew (non-injury) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 6.

There is nothing to be concerned with here, as it appears Jones-Drew received a day off.

RB | Zac Stacy | St. Louis Rams | Injury, Fantasy
St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy (foot) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Stacy is now firmly on the fantasy football map after having a breakout performance against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 9. The Rams are likely resting him for the weekend, but obviously don't expect numbers like this every week. Clearly, though, he's the bell-cow back for the Rams and is a must-start as an RB2 or 3.

RB | Ben Tate | Houston Texans | Injury, Fantasy
Houston Texans RB Ben Tate (ribs) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Tate is expected to play despite being sore after Week 9. Arian Foster (back, hamstring) continues to be limited with multiple injuries, so Tate should again be considered as a flex play if Foster isn't playing.

RB | Knowshon Moreno | Denver Broncos | Injury, Fantasy
Denver Broncos RB Knowshon Moreno (ankle) practiced in full Wednesday, Nov. 6.

This is the first time Moreno has been on the injury report. However, it doesn't appear serious if he was practicing in full early in the week. He's a must-start against the San Diego Chargers.

RB | Trent Richardson | Indianapolis Colts | Injury, Fantasy
Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson (ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Head coach Chuck Pagano did not mention anything being up with Richardson when he spoke to reporters, so that would point to the idea that nothing major is going on here. If Richardson is slowed at all, Donald Brown would be the main beneficiary.

RB | Giovani Bernard | Cincinnati Bengals | Injury, Fantasy
Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (ribs) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Bernard should be fine for the Week 10 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, and his touches could easily increase in the second half of the season. He's a solid No. 2 RB and gains allure in point-per-reception formats.

RB | Darren Sproles | New Orleans Saints | Injury, Fantasy
New Orleans Saints RB Darren Sproles (concussion) made it through the concussion program and participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 6. Sproles said he was fine.

Sproles practiced in full, so this is a great sign that he'll return to action in Week 10 against the Dallas Cowboys. Sproles' involvement in the offense has been limited this year, making him a much weaker play than normal. We wouldn't blame you if you sat him out in favor of better options. In point-per-reception formats, he's a better option as at least a flex play.

RB | Arian Foster | Houston Texans | Injury, Fantasy
Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (back) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 6, because of a back injury. Interim head coach Wade Phillips said Foster is meeting with doctors to have the injury diagnosed.

Owners will have to wait for the diagnosis to come out and monitor his practice participation during the week before getting a better idea about Foster's status for Week 10. This doesn't look good, however. He's been beat up since training camp and will probably be limited if he does suit up against the Arizona Cardinals. Ben Tate, who is nursing cracked ribs, should receive the bulk of the carries, and Dennis Johnson could also see valuable touches if Foster doesn't play.

Fullback

FB | Darrel Young | Washington Redskins | Fantasy
Washington Redskins FB Darrel Young scored three touchdowns in Week 9 against the San Diego Chargers. However, beat writer John Keim believes it is not a trend, but a wrinkle geared toward specific defenses that do not slant their line as much, leaving gaps for straight-ahead runners like Young to excel.

Wide Receiver

WR | Robert Woods | Buffalo Bills | Injury, Fantasy
Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (ankle) sat out of practice Thursday, Nov. 7. WR Marquise Goodwin (hamstring) returned to practice.

WR | Dez Bryant | Dallas Cowboys | Injury, Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant's (back) persistent back issues may soon become a concern. The team doesn't believe it's a structural issue, but it has recurred a few times. The most severe case came in last season's finale when he needed a wheelchair to the team bus.

Bryant is expected to play in Week 10, but there is some cause for concern over his long-term health. He is just 25 years old, and these recurring issues suggest they may worsen as he ages.

WR | Greg Little | Cleveland Browns | Fantasy
Cleveland Browns WR Greg Little claims he was choked by Baltimore Ravens SS James Ihedigbo in the team's Week 9 game, and that is why he ripped off Ihedigbo's helmet and threw it during an on-field altercation. "I know the ref was saying 'let go of his face mask,' but he was choking me, so I'm not (going to let go)," said Little. "There's a thin line between football and just morals and if you're a man, you're not going to let a guy spit in your face, and you're not going to let a guy choke you."

WR | Michael Crabtree | San Francisco 49ers | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers WR Michael Crabtree (Achilles') practiced with a non-contact jersey Wednesday, Nov. 6. He said he hasn't circled a date - or game - for his comeback on the calendar. "Not at all. I'm just going day by day, how I feel," he said. "Getting to circling dates and rushing yourself to be ready by then - I feel like I just need to go one day at a time."

WR | Mario Manningham | San Francisco 49ers | Injury, Fantasy
San Francisco 49ers WR Mario Manningham (knee) was able to practice Wednesday, Nov. 6, and he is expected to play in some capacity against the Carolina Panthers in Week 10. "He's a receiver that's easy to throw to," QB Colin Kaepernick said. "So it's not going to take much time for him to get back up to speed."

WR | Quinton Patton | San Francisco 49ers | Injury, Fantasy
San Francisco 49ers WR Quinton Patton (foot) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 6, and he has already been ruled out for the Week 10 game against the Carolina Panthers.

WR | Cecil Shorts | Jacksonville Jaguars | Injury, Fantasy
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Cecil Shorts (groin) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 6.

WR | Eric Decker | Denver Broncos | Injury, Fantasy
Denver Broncos WR Eric Decker (toe) practiced in full Wednesday, Nov. 6.

He's a must-start, as always.

WR | Wes Welker | Denver Broncos | Injury, Fantasy
Denver Broncos WR Wes Welker (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Denver is likely just resting Welker Wednesday. If he sits out Thursday or Friday, then you can be worried. Until then, plan to keep him in your starting lineups.

WR | Eddie Royal | San Diego Chargers | Injury, Fantasy
San Diego Chargers WR Eddie Royal (toe) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Don't worry here. Royal didn't practice last week before scoring a touchdown against the Washington Redskins. He hasn't seen as many looks lately because of rookie Keenan Allen's success, but he remains a big part of the offense and has a nice matchup against the Denver Broncos this weekend. He should be in your lineup as a WR3 or flex.

WR | Darrius Heyward-Bey | Indianapolis Colts | Injury, Fantasy
Indianapolis Colts WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (shoulder) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 6.

WR | Marlon Brown | Baltimore Ravens | Injury, Fantasy
Baltimore Ravens WR Marlon Brown (finger) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Brown had a season-high nine targets for five catches, 54 yards and two touchdowns in Week 9 against the Cleveland Browns. That marks five TDs on the season. He's become a consistent part of the passing attack and can be seen as a WR3 or 4 most weeks.

WR | Marques Colston | New Orleans Saints | Injury, Fantasy
New Orleans Saints WR Marques Colston (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Colston has been a huge disappointment this year, and his production has especially tailed off in the last three games. Injuries early in the season were likely more serious than the team let on. He may not play this weekend, so be ready to replace him. You may want to do so anyway, at least until he proves that he's fully healthy.

WR | Roddy White | Atlanta Falcons | Injury, Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (ankle, hamstring) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Until White can prove he is back to full speed, he should not be near your starting lineups.

WR | Percy Harvin | Seattle Seahawks | Injury, Fantasy
Seattle Seahawks WR Percy Harvin (hip) had a great workout Wednesday, Nov. 6, but he won't practice with the team. Head coach Pete Carroll said Harvin is in Phase 2 of his rehab.

Harvin won't be making his season debut this weekend against the Atlanta Falcons. We're not sure what Phase 2 of rehab means, but the Seahawks are clearly being very cautious with Harvin. He's basically week-to-week at this point.

WR | Leonard Hankerson | Washington Redskins | Injury, Fantasy
Washington Redskins WR Leonard Hankerson (hamstring) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 6, and is listed as probable for Week 10.

Hankerson should be able to play this week despite his injury. He should be seen as a flex option for most owners but could be a low-end No. 3 wide receiver for desperate owners.

WR | Nate Burleson | Detroit Lions | Injury, Fantasy
Detroit Lions WR Nate Burleson (forearm) has returned to practice, but he doesn't sound very optimistic that he'll be back on the field in Week 10 against the Chicago Bears. "I'm not going to sit here and pull an RG3 and talk over what is common sense and that's listen to my coaches and listen to the doctors," Burleson said. "I want to play and that's just me being a competitor. That doesn't mean that my arm is ready to be out there for 60 minutes. I'm going to talk with the coaches, talk with the trainers and talk with the doctors and figure out if this week, next week or the week after is best for me." Burleson did positional drills and wore a Kevlar brace over his arm in practice Tuesday, Nov. 5. He has most of the grip strength back in his left hand.

If we had to guess, we'd think Detroit plays it safe and holds Burleson out for another week. When he returns, he'll be the No. 2 wideout opposite Calvin Johnson, which will limit Kris Durham's value for the rest of the year.

WR | Riley Cooper | Philadelphia Eagles | Fantasy
Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper (illness) returned to a full practice Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Cooper was held out yesterday with his illness, but he seems to be good to go now. Cooper's monster Week 9 performance reminded fantasy owners that he's out there. Nick Foles is starting again and has good chemistry with Cooper. Consider him a WR3 or flex option against the Green Bay Packers.

WR | Miles Austin | Dallas Cowboys | Injury, Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys WR Miles Austin (hamstring) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Nov. 6.

It would be a surprise to see Austin return to the starting lineup this weekend against the New Orleans Saints. Austin has become a lost cause with his recurring hamstring ailments. If you need the space on your roster, don't feel loyal toward holding onto him.

WR | Victor Cruz | New York Giants | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said the team hopes WR Victor Cruz (neck) will be able to practice Thursday, Nov. 7. Coughlin said he believes Cruz could have practiced Wednesday, Nov. 6, if the team needed him to take part.

WR | Calvin Johnson | Detroit Lions | Injury, Fantasy
Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson (knee) is participating in practice Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Megatron sat out, likely as a precaution, in practice yesterday. He'll play against the Chicago Bears in Week 10 and is a must-start.

Tight End

TE | Lance Kendricks | St. Louis Rams | Injury, Fantasy
St. Louis Rams OG Harvey Dahl (knee), TE Lance Kendricks (hand) and QB Brady Quinn (hip) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 6.

TE | Garrett Graham | Houston Texans | Injury, Fantasy
Houston Texans TE Garrett Graham (thigh) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Graham's injury isn't expected to keep him out in Week 10 against the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals have struggled to stop tight ends this year, making Graham a nice sleeper option at the position this weekend. He's been targeted often by Case Keenum in the team's last two games, too.

TE | Julius Thomas | Denver Broncos | Injury, Fantasy
Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 6.

It's a great sign that Thomas returned to practice Wednesday. He had the entire bye week to heal from his ankle injury, and there's nothing to suggest that he won't be ready to return in Week 10 against the San Diego Chargers. If he's playing, he's a top-tier TE1.

TE | Jermaine Gresham | Cincinnati Bengals | Injury, Fantasy
Cincinnati Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham (groin) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Gresham had his second-most targets (seven) in Week 9, but only caught three of those targets for 33 yards. With Tyler Eifert also a capable pass-catching tight end, Gresham's opportunities are few and far between. He's a flex play, at best, as a TE2. You probably have better options at your disposal.

TE | Jimmy Graham | New Orleans Saints | Injury, Fantasy
New Orleans Saints TE Jimmy Graham (elbow, foot) did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 6.

This is most likely precautionary, as there is nothing to suggest Graham will not be available in Week 10. If he is on the field, he needs to be in your starting lineup as he is one of the top tight ends in football.

TE | Dennis Pitta | Baltimore Ravens | Injury, Fantasy
Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said he is interested in seeing when TE Dennis Pitta (hip) will be able to return to practice. Harbaugh said he has not been told when Pitta will be able to get back on the field.

It does not appear like Pitta will be able to play in a game in the near future. Pitta probably will not be a factor for fantasy owners this season.

Place Kicker

PK | Neil Rackers | Free Agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
Free-agent PK Neil Rackers (Redskins), who was one of three free-agent kickers to work out for the Houston Texans Tuesday, Nov. 5, said that Houston is not ready to move on from PK Randy Bullock just yet. "We all hit the ball really well, but they told us they were not ready to make a move at this point," Rackers said.
