I am really questioning the Philadelphia Eagles' hiring of Chip Kelly to their head coach post. For starters, I cannot say with any certainty that his style of offense will be successful in the NFL, although I am not even sure if his Oregon spread attack is what he will utilize in the pros.
What does this mean for Vick?
He is known to be an offensive innovator, so time will tell, but the system Kelly is known for points to Michael Vick having a place on Philly's 2013 roster. I have reservations about Vick being able to survive in this system, but Nick Foles' style of play isn't conducive to success under Kelly's famed spread O.
Additionally, I question Kelly's commitment to the NFL and Eagles. He is known to be wishy-washy, which doesn't bode well for a long shelf life in Philadelphia. Furthermore, how will he handle coaching in a tough city that can turn on him in a heartbeat? I haven't read too many positive comments from Eagles fans in recent days; Kelly will have to earn the respect of his team's fan base.
I want to see what he does at quarterback and the style of offense he chooses to employ before passing final judgment on the fantasy value of the Eagles' core players. Until then, I will remain highly skeptical of this hiring and will pay close attention to his offseason decisions.
