"Alex says he's working diligently on his rehabilitation and is looking forward to getting back on the field as soon as possible," a source said. OF | Nelson Cruz | Texas Rangers | Fantasy
Texas Rangers OF Nelson Cruz is denying allegations that he purchased $4,000 worth of "product" from a Miami anti-aging clinic that is being reported to have supplied performance-enhancing substances to major league players. "We are aware of certain allegations and inferences," Cruz's law firm, Farrell & Reisinger, said in a statement released to the Associated Press. "To the extent these allegations and inferences refer to Nelson, they are denied."

OF | Aaron Hicks | Minnesota Twins | Fantasy
Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire is hoping OF Aaron Hicks wins the team's competition for the starting spot in center field this spring. However, Hicks is only 23 years of age and hasn't played above Class AA.

SP | Kyle Lohse | free agent | Free Agents, Fantasy,
The Baltimore Orioles could consider pursuing free-agent SP Kyle Lohse (Cardinals) if his asking price significantly drops.

SP | James McDonald | Pittsburgh Pirates | Fantasy,
Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Pirates SP James McDonald signed a one-year deal worth $3.025 million.

SP | Rick Porcello | Detroit Tigers | Fantasy,
Detroit Tigers SP Rick Porcello, who will compete for the No. 5 rotation spot with SP Drew Smyly in spring training if he isn't traded before then, said he's been focusing on his slider this offseason and shoring up his mechanics with the help of mentor Jeff Jones. "Right now, I've been focusing on my slider, because that's the pitch that I'm going to throw more than my curveball generally," Porcello said. "A lot of it has to do with just your consistency in your delivery and your arm angle. If all of those fall into place, then your pitches should be where they need to be. That's the main thing I've been focusing on is just repeating my delivery and getting all my body parts where they need to be." Hitters were more aggressive against Porcello last season, but he allowed a .310 average against and he allowed the most doubles in baseball with 53. His struggles with command led to left-handed hitters feasting off of him.

SP | Shaun Marcum | New York Mets | Fantasy,
New York Mets SP Shaun Marcum can make $250,000 each for 120, 140, 160 and 170 innings this year, $375,000 each for 180 and 190 innings, $500,000 for reaching 200 innings, $375,000 each for 90 and 120 days on the active roster and $500,000 each for being on the active roster or disabled list for an injury unrelated to his right arm for 150 and 170 days. Marcum is guaranteed $4 million with his new one-year deal in 2013.

SP | Brad Peacock | Oakland Athletics | Fantasy,
Oakland Athletics SP Brad Peacock struggled with making adjustments to his game last season, and the A's worked on quite a few in-season mechanical tweaks with him, and they think his focus on those adjustments took away from it during games. However, Peacock finished the season on a high note and struck out more than a hitter per inning as his delivery adjustments paid off. It appears likely that he'll open the season at Class AAA this year, though.

SP | Alfredo Figaro | Milwaukee Brewers | Transaction,
The Milwaukee Brewers officially signed free-agent SP Alfredo Figaro (Japanese League) to a minor league deal Thursday, Jan. 31, after Figaro and his agent reached a deal with the Orix Buffaloes this week. Figaro will be in the team's spring camp.

SP | Gio Gonzalez | Washington Nationals | Fantasy,
The evidence given in Miami New Times linking New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez and others to the BioGenesis clinic in Florida is not enough for Major League Baseball to hand out suspension. MLB can discipline players without a positive test if there is a preponderance of evidence that the specific person doped or tried to dope. The ledgers that connect Rodriguez and the others to the clinic would have to be sworn to under oath by someone with direct knowledge of them, and Anthony Bosch has denied any wrongdoing in this situation. MLB would need a witness or some sort of documentation to suspend Rodriguez, Toronto Blue Jays OF Melky Cabrera, Oakland Athletics SP Bartolo Colon, Washington Nationals SP Gio Gonzalez, San Diego Padres C Yasmani Grandal or Texas Rangers OF Nelson Cruz. Cabrera, Colon and Grandal were each suspended 50 games last season after testing positive, and they would each face a second, 100-game ban if the league can establish that they used performance-enhancing drugs on other occasions.

RP | Fernando Rodney | Tampa Bay Rays | Free Agents, Fantasy,
A report about Tampa Bay Rays RP Fernando Rodney receiving an extension from the team was inaccurate due to a "misunderstanding" between the closer and a reporter from the Dominican Republic. There have been no discussions on a new deal for Rodney. He will become a free agent after the 2013 season, and he would like to stay with Tampa Bay.

RP | Matt Capps | Cleveland Indians | Transaction, Fantasy,
