First Baseman

1B | Carlos Pena | Houston Astros | Transaction, Fantasy
The Houston Astros agreed to terms with free-agent 1B Carlos Pena (Rays) on a one-year deal Monday, Dec. 17, according to sources. Pena will make $2.9 million with another $1.4 million in performance bonuses. He's expected to share first base and designated hitter duties with 3B Brett Wallace.

1B | Mark Trumbo | Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim | Fantasy
The Atlanta Braves have expressed interest in Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 3B/OF Mark Trumbo. However, the Angels are more likely to trade OF Peter Bourjos than Trumbo because DH/1B Kendrys Morales will become a free agent after the 2014 season and because Trumbo could see increased playing time at first base as 1B Albert Pujols gets older.

Second Baseman

2B | Chris Getz | Kansas City Royals | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Kansas City Royals 2B Chris Getz is expected to enter spring training as the starter at second base, with 2B Johnny Giavotella likely backing him up. Getz missed the end of the 2012 season with a broken thumb.

Shortstop

SS | Stephen Drew | Boston Red Sox | Transaction, Free Agents, Fantasy
The Boston Red Sox agreed with free-agent SS Stephen Drew (Athletics) on a one-year, $9.5 million contract, pending a physical. He can make $500,000 in bonuses.

SS | Asdrubal Cabrera | Cleveland Indians | Fantasy
Contrary to a previous report, a baseball source claims the Cleveland Indians may still consider trading away SS Asdrubal Cabrera, SP Justin Masterson or RP Chris Perez for major leaguers or minor league players who are close to being ready for the majors.

Third Baseman

3B | Juan Francisco | Atlanta Braves | Fantasy
Atlanta Braves 3B Juan Francisco has nine homers and 29 RBIs in 33 games in winter ball.

Catcher

C | Mike Napoli | Boston Red Sox | Free Agents, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, the Boston Red Sox are trying to reduce C/1B Mike Napoli's three-year contract to only two years to protect against his physical deterioration. No agreement has been reached, though, and the Red Sox are keeping in contact with free-agent OF Nick Swisher (Yankees) and 1B Adam LaRoche (Nationals) just in case the deal falls through.

C | Travis d'Arnaud | New York Mets | Transaction, Fantasy,
The Toronto Blue Jays and New York Mets have agreed in principle on a seven-player trade that would send SP R.A. Dickey, C Josh Thole and a minor leaguer to the Blue Jays and C Travis d'Arnaud, C John Buck, P Noah Syndergaard and a minor leaguer to the Mets. A 72-hour negotiating window has been opened for the Blue Jays to extend Dickey's contract, which would complete the deal. Toronto has until 2 p.m. EST Tuesday, Dec. 18, to finalize an extension.

Outfielder

OF | Josh Hamilton | Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim | Fantasy
The Seattle Mariners reportedly offered OF Josh Hamilton a four-year, $100 million contract before the slugger chose the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The Mariners' offer also included two vesting option years worth $25 million each. Hamilton chose the Angels for five years and $125 million.

OF | Jacoby Ellsbury | Boston Red Sox | Fantasy
The Boston Red Sox have declined all offers for OF Jacoby Ellsbury this offseason, and it would take a considerable package to get him.

OF | Michael Bourn | free agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
Several sources believe the New York Yankees could be interested in free-agent OF Michael Bourn (Braves) if his asking price decreases.

OF | Dexter Fowler | Colorado Rockies | Fantasy
The Atlanta Braves and Texas Rangers have not been in contact with the Colorado Rockies this weekend regarding possible trade talks for OF Dexter Fowler.

OF | Starling Marte | Pittsburgh Pirates | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Pittsburgh Pirates general manager Neal Huntington had previously said OFs Starling Marte and Travis Snider are locked into the corner outfielder jobs, but Friday, Dec. 14, he indicated that a lot of guys will compete for the positions.

Starting Pitcher

SP | Zack Wheeler | New York Mets | Fantasy,
The feeling at the winter meetings this year was that the New York Mets won't immediately plug SP Zack Wheeler, who has just one year of experience above Class A, into the starting rotation this season. Instead, the team will turn to SP Jenrry Mejia unless they acquire another starting pitcher this winter.

SP | R.A. Dickey | Toronto Blue Jays | Transaction, Fantasy
The Toronto Blue Jays have agreed to a two-year extension with SP R.A. Dickey, which was a requirement of the trade agreed upon with the New York Mets. The Blue Jays will examine him at their spring training complex before the deal is finalized.

SP | Chris Capuano | Los Angeles Dodgers | Fantasy
Updating a previous report, the Cleveland Indians, Minnesota Twins, Pittsburgh Pirates, Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays are among the teams that have expressed interest in Los Angeles Dodgers SPs Chris Capuano and Aaron Harang.

SP | Gerrit Cole | Pittsburgh Pirates | Fantasy,
Pittsburgh Pirates SP Gerrit Cole will open the 2013 season with Triple-A Indianapolis. "Our plan for Gerrit is to have him come to spring training and show us how strong his offseason was and then continue his growth and development," general manager Neal Huntington said. "When he shows us he's ready to maintain his delivery and unleash his four-pitch package with consistency, we'll bring him to the major leagues." SPs Kyle McPherson and Jeff Locke are candidates to earn a job in the starting rotation.

Relief Pitcher

RP | Joel Hanrahan | Pittsburgh Pirates | Fantasy
The Pittsburgh Pirates could be more likely to trade RP Joel Hanrahan following the club's re-signing of RP Jason Grilli. Hanrahan is scheduled to make $7 million in arbitration during the 2013 season before becoming a free agent. He has been linked to the Detroit Tigers and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
