Sleepers of the week

1B James Loney, Tampa Bay Rays at New York Yankees (May 2-4)

The typically power-deficient first-sacker has rekindled his stick work after starting the year 6-for-34. A recent six-game hit streak saw him bat .462 with nine RBI. His career output at Yankee Stadium should help him keep things going: Though he's only cleared the fences twice in the new lefty-hitter haven, Loney boasts a .429 average there with a .472 on-base percentage and a .633 slugging percentage.

2B Scooter Gennett, Milwaukee Brewers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks (May 5-7)

With his high-BA game and destruction of right-handed pitching, the keystoner has left Rickie Weeks in the dust. He'll get to his at his advantageous home park in this trio while also lining up against three righty members of Arizona's woeful rotation: Mike Bolsinger, Josh Collmenter and Bronson Arroyo.

Busts of the week

OF Melky Cabrera, Toronto Blue Jays at Pittsburgh Pirates (May 2-4)

Cabrera has been off to a torrid start, so it's hard to say he's going to do nothing. But he's slated to face a trio of tough arms in Gerrit Cole, Francisco Liriano and (surprisingly) Edinson Volquez, and he has shown far less power on the road than he has at Rogers Centre. PNC Park is no picnic for hitters.

SP Alex Wood, Atlanta Braves vs. San Francisco Giants (May 2-4)

Betting against any Bravos hurler seems like a bad idea; Wood has blended in with the league's best rotation so far. But he could stumble against San Fran, who ranks among the best against southpaws, thanks in large part to Michael Morse, as well as on the road. Hey, Wood's statistical correction has to start sometime, right?
