First Baseman

1B | Ike Davis | New York Mets | Free Agents, Fantasy
The New York Mets appear to have little or no interest in free-agent 1B Kendrys Morales (Mariners), even though agent Scott Boras was trying to heavily promote his client to the team. If 1B Ike Davis is traded away, the Mets plan to use OF/1B Lucas Duda at first base.

Second Baseman

2B | Jemile Weeks | Baltimore Orioles | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
The Baltimore Orioles are expected to stay in-house to fill their vacancies at second base and closer, unless RP Fernando Rodney (Rays) lowers his asking price. RP Tommy Hunter appears to be the favorite to close games at the moment, with INF Ryan Flaherty expected to have the upper hand over INF Jemile Weeks for the second base job.

Shortstop

SS | Stephen Drew | free agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
A Minnesota Twins official said the team is unlikely to pursue free-agent SS Stephen Drew (Red Sox) and OF Nelson Cruz (Rangers). The Twins still have money to spend but are hesitant to give up draft picks in order to sign them.

Third Baseman

3B | Kevin Youkilis | Japanese League | Fantasy
The San Francisco Giants reportedly expressed interest in 3B Kevin Youkilis before he signed with the Rakuten Golden Eagles of the Japanese League.

Catcher

C | Carlos Santana | Cleveland Indians | Fantasy
Cleveland Indians C Carlos Santana is still adjusting to third base in the Dominican Republic Winter League, and he's hitting .350 (7-for-20) with three errors in five games so far. Two of his errors came in one game. "It's still very early in the process," said general manager Chris Antonetti. "Sarbie has been down there for a few days with Carlos. He's made a couple of errors, but so far the reports have been encouraging." Santana is expected to be the Indians' main designated hitter next season. Cleveland would prefer if 3B Lonnie Chisenhall won the third base job in spring training.

Outfielder

OF | Nelson Cruz | free agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
A Minnesota Twins official said the team is unlikely to pursue free-agent SS Stephen Drew (Red Sox) and OF Nelson Cruz (Rangers). The Twins still have money to spend but are hesitant to give up draft picks in order to sign them.

OF | Bryce Harper | Washington Nationals | Injury, Fantasy,
Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg (elbow), OF Bryce Harper (knee) and 1B Adam LaRoche (elbow) are all recovering nicely this offseason after undergoing surgeries in October. Strasburg was pitching "a good amount" of the year with pain in his right elbow before having a procedure to remove bone chips from his right elbow. Strasburg's rehab is "going phenomenal." Harper has started his rehab and is expected to be a full-go for spring training. LaRoche has also started his rehab and has been doing follow-up exams for his elbow.

Starting Pitcher

SP | Mark Mulder | free agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
The Boston Red Sox are one of several teams that has inquired about free-agent P Mark Mulder (Cardinals), although it is unlikely that they will pursue him. He has thrown twice for interested teams and increased his velocity from 88 to 92 mph between the first and second sessions. The Arizona Diamondbacks, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Philadelphia Phillies, San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants have sent representatives to watch him throw.

SP | Kevin Gausman | Baltimore Orioles | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
The Baltimore Orioles have been intrigued by the idea of turning SP Kevin Gausman into a closer. However, the team still views him as a starter and does not want to deal with the possibility of needing to stretch him out again in the future after having him work in one-inning intervals.

SP | Andy Pettitte | Retired Players | Fantasy
New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said SP Andy Pettitte is not considering unretiring again. "He has shut it down for good," Cashman said. "That door is closed." If the season started today, CC Sabathia, Hiroki Kuroda and Ivan Nova would be the Yankees' top three starters, with the two remaining spots in the rotation being filled by internal candidates such as Michael Pineda, Adam Warren and David Phelps.

SP | Masahiro Tanaka | Japanese League | Fantasy
The Texas Rangers are no longer expected to pursue Japanese SP Masahiro Tanaka after signing OF Shin-Soo Choo. Any additional transactions made by the Rangers this offseason are expected to be minor.

SP | Stephen Strasburg | Washington Nationals | Injury, Fantasy,
Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg (elbow), OF Bryce Harper (knee) and 1B Adam LaRoche (elbow) are all recovering nicely this offseason after undergoing surgeries in October.

Relief Pitcher

RP | Jonathan Papelbon | Philadelphia Phillies | Fantasy
One of the reasons why the Philadelphia Phillies may have difficulty trading CL Jonathan Papelbon is because of decreased velocity. When he pitched for Boston, he regularly reached 95-96 mph but it dropped to 91-92 mph (and sometimes less) last season.

RP | Grant Balfour | free agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
Free-agent RP Grant Balfour (Athletics) said during an MLB Network Radio interview that four teams are interested in his services and he has one offer on the table.

RP | Fernando Rodney | free agent | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
The Baltimore Orioles are expected to stay in-house to fill their vacancies at second base and closer, unless RP Fernando Rodney (Rays) lowers his asking price. RP Tommy Hunter appears to be the favorite to close games at the moment, with INF Ryan Flaherty expected to have the upper hand over INF Jemile Weeks for the second base job.

RP | Chris Perez | free agent | Free Agents, Fantasy,
The Baltimore Orioles are not interested in free-agent RP Chris Perez (Indians), and it appears as though free-agent RP Fernando Rodney (Rays) or an in-house candidate will be their closer next season.

RP | John Axford | Cleveland Indians | Fantasy,
Cleveland Indians RP John Axford can make an extra $1.75 million in incentives next year based on games finished: $250,000 for 38 and $300,000 each for 43, 48, 53, 58 and 63.
