1) Jose Reyes, SS, Toronto Blue Jays

Team: Pasko Varnica, Mastersball | Roster

I hear expectations of Reyes having a monster season, playing on top of a very good Toronto lineup. Reyes is one of the tougher risk versus reward calls on the board. Will his body withstand moving off grass? In my opinion, the reward outweighs the risk.

2) Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado Rockies

Team: Howard Bender, FanGraphs | Roster

Surprised to see him here, especially when Pasko took a shortstop with his turn pick. The injury risk is obviously in the forefront of everyone's mind, but there's a degree of injury risk with everyone. When healthy, he's the best shortstop out there and given the lack of depth at the position, he's a no-brainer. Thought about Buster Posey for a fleeting moment.

3) Justin Verlander, SP, Detroit Tigers

Team: Nicholas Minnix, KFFL | Roster

So, clearly I was mistaken that Jose Reyes would be available here. Taking a pitcher this early is very unusual for me, but I like to try different things. The top few pitchers project to earn more than any position player remaining, by quite a bit. It was either Verlander or Clayton Kershaw, and I'm not too worried about the Motown righty's workload yet.

4) Justin Upton, OF, Atlanta Braves

Team: Tim Heaney, KFFL | Roster

Briefly thought about Evan Longoria or Buster Posey, but Upton continues my five-category theme. I'm hardly worried about Turner Field's park factor. This Bravos lineup should pile up runs, and a fresh start with his brother alongside him should rejuvenate J-Up's 30-30 potential. Plus, last time I bought him after a down year ... ca-ching.

5) Evan Longoria, 3B, Tampa Bay Rays

Team: Mark Chamberlin, Baseball Sharks | Roster

Mr. Longoria, we meet again. BAD was the only league last year in which I did not own Longoria - not complaining about it either. He may be deserving of an injury-prone tag, but with his upside he is still worth the dice roll, especially when you look at the 3B player pool.

6) Jason Heyward, OF, Atlanta Braves

Team: Steve Gardner, USA TODAY/Sports Weekly | Roster

I considered Jose Bautista, but opted for a better-rounded outfielder in Heyward. At only 23 years old, I expect him to put up even better numbers than the .269 average, 27 homers and 21 stolen bases he had last season. The Braves offense is better; his runs scored and RBI totals could rise as well.
