Fantasy Football Draft Guide - Player Profiles and AnalysisDustin Keller, TE, New York Jets
By KFFL Staff Dustin Keller | New York Jets | 6-foot-2, 248 pounds | 2nd year
Pros: Keller is very fast, athletic and has good hands. In his rookie campaign last year, the former Purdue Boilermaker snagged 48 passes for 545 yards and scored three times. The Jets are expected to start first-round pick Mark Sanchez at quarterback in 2009, which bodes well for Keller since young signal callers usually look to the tight end when trying to escape danger. With wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery the only established target in the passing game, Keller is in line to see more looks in 2009. He was thrown to 83 times last year, good for the No. 10 spot in the league. Cons: As with any player with one year of production, the track record isn't strong for Keller. The Jets figure to run, run and run some more in 2009 to alleviate the stress on Sanchez. The AFC East is a tough division with a horde of talented linebackers to contend with. Keller scored only one time in the final 12 games of the year. Fantasy tip: Keller is a risky pick for your team as a No. 1 tight end, but if you wait for all of the other top-flight options to go, we feel you can do worse than this second-year potential dynamo. He should come off the board nearing the late 10th round or in the dawn of the 11th, on average.
