Pros: The burly running back posted 1,042 rushing yards in just 12 games, which would have put him on pace for nearly 1,390 yards. It was his fourth straight year surpassing the 1,000-yard mark. The Rams are expected to feature a modified version of the West Coast offense - think a run-first version of what the Philadelphia Eagles employ. Jackson said he is conditioning himself better to help avoid injuries, and he is also working on his route-running skills. The Rams upgraded their offensive line with the second overall selection of offensive tackle Jason Smith and the signing of Jason Brown at center. The return of tight end Randy McMichael (leg) helps the run blocking considerably, too. Jackson has averaged no less than 4.1 yards per carry in his career, and he has caught 3.8 passes per game over the past four years.

Cons: Injuries. Jackson has played a full slate of games just once (2006) in his five NFL seasons. The Rams' offense isn't loaded with talent at the skill positions, and Jackson has to learn a new system this offseason. He has struggled to find the end zone with regularity during the past two years, scoring 14 total times in 24 games after a 16-touchdown effort in 16 contests in 2006. Opposing defenses probably won't respect maligned quarterback Marc Bulger or the team's mediocre receiving corps, which should allow them to key in on Jackson - at least early on.

Fantasy tip: Fantasy owners like Jackson, who turns 26 July 22, around the No. 5 overall spot, but it is a risky proposition. We like Jackson and feel he is interchangeable with the Carolina Panthers' DeAngelo Williams, because fantasy owners are assuming a near equal number of risks with both players. In point-per-reception leagues, Jackson could thrive. He may end up catching close to 75 passes since the offense has so few reliable targets.
