Bob Brookover, of The Philadelphia Inquirer, reports if the Philadelphia Eagles decide to give QB Donovan McNabb a contract extension, it is possible backup QB Kevin Kolb never will be given a chance to be the team's starting quarterback. Kolb is signed through next season.

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid said the team has to wait to see how RBs Lorenzo Booker and LeSean McCoy (thumb) progress before the team alters their approach with how they use RB Brian Westbrook (ankle) in 2009. "If the other guys are capable of getting in there and doing their thing, then that's what we'll do. We'll rotate them in there," Reid said.

St. Louis Rams RB Steven Jackson said he is definitely a lot stronger now after hitting the weights a lot more this year. "I hope my speed don't leave," Jackson said. "I hope I'm able to still use that. Really, to be honest with you, I'm really working on being a complete running back." Jackson said he has spent time working with the wide receivers to become a better route runner. In regards to his health, he realizes it's talked about a lot. "Of course I want to be healthy, but I don't think it's really something you can prepare for. A torn groin or a torn hamstring -- it just happens," Jackson said.

Betts has focused on building strength in his legs during the offseason as a precautionary measure against future injuries similar to the one he dealt with last season. Betts said, "I'm 100 percent. I feel like my old self, like I was last year at the beginning of the year; I feel good."

He's learning some of the elementary things that had he been able to go the whole year [last season], he would have down as second nature. The best thing for us is that he participated every day. We want to be smart with what he's doing. He'll be practicing next week as he was this week."

Updating an ongoing story, The Associated Press reports Cleveland Browns WR Donte' Stallworth is pleading not guilty to DUI manslaughter charges. Stallworth entered the plea during a brief court hearing Thursday, June 4. He did not appear in court and a trial date has not been set. Stallworth faces up to 15 years if convicted.

David Elfin, of The Washington Times, confirmed the Washington Redskins saved nearly $1.75 million against the salary cap by restructuring the contract of WR Santana Moss. The Redskins extended his contract through 2013, and converted his base salary this year and next into a signing bonus. The conversion guarantees Moss almost $6.3 million.

Updating a previous report, The Nashville Tennessean reports Jacksonville Jaguars DT John Henderson (shoulder) said he was upset with head coach Jack Del Rio's comments about him not practicing because of his shoulder injury but the two have talked and everything is good. "I was a little upset, but we talked about it and everything is all right," Henderson said. "We talked like men. I let him know about the shoulder. He saw the X-rays. He was good on it. We're both good and we're getting back to work."


Linebacker
