Quarterback

QB | Tarvaris Jackson | Minnesota Vikings | Depth Chart Tidbit
Judd Zulgad and Chip Scoggins, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, report Minnesota Vikings QB Tarvaris Jackson said he does not believe he has any advantage over QB Sage Rosenfels in the quarterback competition even though he finished last season as the starter. "I don't think they're going to show me any favoritism just because I ended the year as a starter. I just think it's 50-50 and we're going to fight for it as hard as we can," Jackson said.

QB | Tom Brady | New England Patriots | Injury News
Karen Guregian, of the Boston Globe, reports New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (knee) said during a radio interview that he likely will be a little apprehensive during games early in the season when players will be falling around his legs. "I'm sure there's some aspect of that. I couldn't imagine there wouldn't be. Obviously, in this camp here, I haven't noticed that at all. How much, and to what degree remains to be seen. I'm anticipating going out there and feeling great and trying to do my best to lead those guys without any apprehension. If you do doubt, it will have an effect, sometimes noticeable, sometimes not noticeable. I'd love to get to the point where I completely forget about it. I'm inching toward that every time I take the field either in practice or off-field conditioning. That's when you really want to move past it," Brady said.

QB | Aaron Rodgers | Green Bay Packers | Fantasy
The Green Bay Press Gazette reports Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers is working hard to improve his game and hopes it leads to more wins in 2009. He realizes that despite his eye-popping statistics as a first-year starter, it all comes down to wins and losses. Rodgers places a high priority on teamwork, so he spent time this offseason hanging out with teammates. He also plans to invite players over for catered dinners, which is a practice he started a year ago. During the first two OTA practices, Rodgers has looked sharp. He is throwing the deep ball very well and hooked up with WR Greg Jennings on some impressive completions Thursday, May 28.

QB | Luke McCown | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Depth Chart Tidbit
PewterReport.com reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski said the team's quarterback competition is primarily between QBs Luke McCown and Byron Leftwich. "Their (Leftwich and McCown) recall is really good. [Quarterbacks coach Greg Olson] is doing a fantastic job with both those quarterbacks and I expect a great competition. That is good. Having good competition brings out the best. They are both making plays out here and they both running the offense efficiently. I'm real pleased about that," Jagodzinski said.

QB | Kurt Warner | Arizona Cardinals | Injury News, Fantasy
Bob Young, of The Arizona Republic, reports Arizona Cardinals QB Kurt Warner (hip) said his surgically repaired hip is getting better and the pain is lessening. "It's getting better, the pain is lessening - small increments, but it's lessening. As far as functionally though, I feel great. I feel strong.... It's just a matter of pain," Warner said.

QB | Trent Edwards | Buffalo Bills | Fantasy
Allen Wilson, of The Buffalo News, reports Buffalo Bills QB Trent Edwards spent more than 20 minutes following the conclusion of the team's OTA Wednesday, May 27, throwing extra passes to WRs Terrell Owens and Lee Evans. The three are trying to get their timing down better. "I think it's very, very important, especially for me being new to the system," Owens said. Owens, who admitted he is still making some mistakes, added the two are trying to get a sense of chemistry and he is trying to get used to how Edwards throws the ball. Edwards encouraged the extra work due to some sloppy play during the OTA.

Running Back

RB | Shonn Greene | New York Jets | Injury News
Ohm Youngmisuk, of the New York Daily News, reports New York Jets RB Shonn Greene (hamstring) participated in practice Thursday, May 28.

RB | Marshawn Lynch | Buffalo Bills | Fantasy
Mark Gaughan, of The Buffalo News, reports Buffalo Bills RB Marshawn Lynch appears stronger than ever during spring practices. He has bulked up to 230 pounds. "I put some mass on," Lynch said. "I'll see how that's going to work." Lynch is up a good 10 pounds from last year's listed weight of 215 pounds, but he said he still feels good about his speed and hasn't lost a step. Lynch feels the extra weight will allow him to maintain a good playing weight during the season.

RB | Ryan Moats | Houston Texans | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Brooke Bentley, of HoustonTexans.com, reports Houston Texans RB Ryan Moats has been getting the job done working as the No. 2 back during practice and rotating with RB Chris Brown in the spot. Head coach Gary Kubiak has called Moats and Brown his "2a and 2b" backup running backs. Moats has been getting the edge in the competition because he has shown tremendous speed during OTAs and played last season. Moats, at 5-8 and 210 pounds, doesn't have great size and doesn't fit the big-back prototype the Texans have wanted in short-yardage situations. Moats, however, believes he can accomplish the job through his running style.

RB | J.J. Arrington | Free Agent | Injury News, Free Agency News
Frank Schwab, of the Colorado Springs Gazette, reports Denver Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels said the team would be open to re-signing unrestricted free-agent RB J.J. Arrington (knee) at some point.

RB | Ronnie Brown | Miami Dolphins | Fantasy
Harvey Fialkov, of the South Florida SunSentinel, reports Miami Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano said he has been impressed with RB Ronnie Brown's conditioning this offseason and believes he will play well this season because he is 18 months removed from reconstructive knee surgery.

RB | Cedric Benson | Cincinnati Bengals | Fantasy
Joe Reedy, of The Cincinnati Enquirer, reports Cincinnati Bengals RB Cedric Benson doesn't feel like he has established himself yet. "I've showed glimpses, but I have a lot still to do," Benson said. He is looking forward to taking on a larger workload this year. "I can take the load," Benson said. "It's something I know how to do and I enjoy it." He said head coach Marvin Lewis has reiterated the team is going to run the football this year and they have been working on that during OTAs a lot. Offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski is looking for Benson to improve on some footwork issues and become more consistent in the running lanes.

Fullback

FB | Sammy Morris | New England Patriots | Injury News
Karen Guregian, of the Boston Herald, reports New England Patriots LB Tedy Bruschi, LB Jerod Mayo, FS Brandon Meriweather, RB Sammy Morris, DL Jarvis Green and DE Ty Warren (abdomen) were not present for the Patriots' organized team activity Thursday, May 28.

FB | Peyton Hillis | Denver Broncos | Fantasy

Wide Receiver

WR | Miles Austin | Dallas Cowboys | Injury News, Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Mac Engel, of The Fort Worth Star-Telegram, reports Dallas Cowboys WR Miles Austin (6-3, 218 pounds) has the size to become a clone of Terrell Owens (6-3, 224) in the Cowboys' offense. Austin said he is trying to work hard and improve every day. The team's No. 2 receiver role is technically held by WR Patrick Crayton, but there is an unofficial opening for it. Austin could have a chance to be the team's speed threat. "The guy can play," WRs coach Ray Sherman said. "Physically the guy is a beast. I've liked him since he came out of Monmouth when I was with the Titans." Sherman noted Austin is bigger, stronger and his route running has improved. Plus, he is 100 percent recovered from last year's knee injury. "I think he's ready to break out," Sherman said. Crayton, who may be better suited for the slot, has proven to be an NFL-caliber receiver, but does not possess speed to make a cornerback backpedal.

WR | Brandon Marshall | Denver Broncos | Injury News, Fantasy
The Denver Post's Mike Klis reports Denver Broncos WR Brandon Marshall (hip) is an unofficial holdout. He has moved his rehabilitation away from the Broncos' headquarters with hopes the Broncos will be forced to restructure his contract. The Broncos were given Marshall's request for a raise last week, but they are not willing to accommodate due to his off-the-field legal issues and injury issues. Marshall has been involved in 13 police-related incidents since Oct. 31, 2004. "Brandon is not a holdout," his attorney Harvey Steinberg said. "He went back to Orlando so he could continue rehabbing from his surgery." Technically the current passing camp is voluntary, but the team's other injured players are showing up daily to rehab. Marshall is in the final year of a four-year deal. Through incentives, he pushed his $535,000 base salary to $2.2 million for 2009.

WR | Donald Driver | Green Bay Packers | Fantasy
Jason Wilde, of The Wisconsin State Journal, reports Green Bay Packers WR Donald Driver is absent from the team's OTAs because he is looking to have his contract reworked. Driver has two years remaining on his contract, which calls for a $3.9 million base salary this year and a $4 million base salary next year. According to a team source, this is the fourth consecutive year Driver has gone to the team about reworking his contract.

WR | Plaxico Burress | Free Agent | Free Agency News

WR | Terrell Owens | Buffalo Bills | Fantasy

WR | Matt Jones | Free Agent | Free Agency News
Vaughn McClure, of the Chicago Tribune, reports the Chicago Bears are unlikely to pursue free-agent WR Matt Jones (Jaguars). General manager Jerry Angelo said, "He was a first-round draft pick and he is a very talented player, but it's case by case. We're not quick to move on any player." Angelo added, "Guys make mistakes, move on, and become better people. Some guys have patterns of bad behavior and continue to have those patterns. I'm not saying that about Matt Jones. What I'm saying is we have to do our homework. And then you have to look at what value that person brings to your football team irrelevant of his off-the-field issues."

SS | Clinton Hart | San Diego Chargers | Depth Chart Tidbit
Kevin Acee, of The San Diego Union-Tribune, reports San Diego Chargers SS Clinton Hart may spend half of the snaps on the sideline in 2009 because the Chargers are not working with their base defense much. Hart feels the Chargers have lost a little confidence in him during certain situations. "It's up to me to gain it back," he noted.
