Philadelphia Phillies agree with OF Raul Ibanez

ESPN.com's Jayson Stark reports the Philadelphia Phillies agreed with free-agent outfielder Raul Ibanez (Seattle Mariners) on a three-year, $30 million deal.

Ibanez will become the team's everyday left fielder, and the left-handed hitter should greatly benefit moving from spacious Safeco Field to hitter-friendly Citizens Bank Park. Ibanez hit .293 with 23 homers and 110 RBIs last season for Seattle. Earlier in the offseason, an official for an unnamed team said the 36-year-old was in better shape than a lot of 25-year-olds. Ibanez has played at least 149 games in each of the last four years.

Ibanez will probably hit fifth in one of the most dangerous lineups in the National League. He's a career .286 hitter who has clubbed at least 21 homers and driven in at least 105 runs - on what was much of the time a bad team - in each of the last three years. Ibanez could approach 30 home runs and drive in more than 100 runs again in 2009. He isn't a big name, but he is a consistent fantasy weapon and makes a good No. 2 outfielder who you can probably draft early in the middle rounds.
