KFFL's Fantasy Baseball Rankings Report gives fantasy baseball players the scoop on any happenings that have significantly affected KFFL's fantasy baseball rankings and projections.

How much does injury news affect two of fantasy baseball's top stars, Alex Rodriguez (hip) and Johan Santana (elbow)? Enough. Baseball's most coveted free agent finally signed, in case you hadn't heard. Several other fantasy-relevant names are making a move this week, too.

Outfielders

Manny Ramirez, Los Angeles Dodgers

Manny is still being Manny - his value doesn't change much because this move was foreseeable. The difference: fantasy baseball owners can draft him with more confidence now that he's in a locale where he should - should - be content. Don't overlook his age and recent injury history, though.

Torii Hunter, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

The original projection for Hunter was a little too skeptical on his playing time. He remains a dangerous fantasy option and is coming off a slightly disappointing season, so he could actually be a solid value pick as a No. 3 outfielder in mixed formats.

Willy Taveras, Cincinnati Reds

There was reason to be skeptical of his league-leading steals total (68) from last season. It seemed like an outlier. There are positive signs for this Fast Willy, though. He's supposedly focusing more on ways to get on base, and Cincy is expected to place more emphasis on thievery this year. He's still a one-trick pony, but his one trick can earn him a bit more face time.

Starting pitchers

Josh M. Johnson, Florida Marlins

Johnson's fast start this spring served as notification: Hey, this kid could be dynamite. His original projection didn't give him enough credit for the growth he showed - after he had returned ahead of schedule from Tommy John surgery. He's still not incredibly safe, but there is plenty of upside in this fantasy No. 4 starter type.

Jose Contreras, Chicago White Sox

The Cuban's original prognosis for his ruptured Achilles' tendon had him back sometime in July or August. The ChiSox staff continues to voice its amazement at the right-hander's progress, though; they believe there's a chance he could make the Opening Day rotation.
