WR Torry Holt signs with the Jacksonville Jaguars

Steve Wyche, of the NFL Network, reports the Jacksonville Jaguars have signed free-agent wide receiver Torry Holt (St. Louis Rams) to a three-year deal. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

Holt, who will turn 33 this June, is coming off his worst season since his rookie year. He managed to play in all 16 games with the St. Louis Rams last year, but he caught just 64 passes for 796 yards. His three touchdown receptions were the lowest for a season in his career. It was the first time since 1999 that Holt failed to catch at least 65 passes or reach 800 yards receiving.

Even with the poor season last year, Holt is still the team's best receiving option and should improve their passing game. He will likely be a starter for the Jaguars next year. Who starts opposite him is still in question. The team's leading receiver last year, wide receiver Matt Jones, was released earlier this year, shortly after he violated his probation by drinking alcohol.

While Holt may still have some solid seasons left under his belt, he is no longer the dominant fantasy receiver he was from 2003 through 2006. At best, he's worth grabbing as a midrange No. 3 option in fantasy leagues next season. The Jags are still a run-first offense with a shaky fantasy quarterback and a poor supporting cast at receiver.
