Opting to forgo his senior year, Rutgers University wide receiver Kenny Britt declared himself eligible for the 2009 NFL Draft. After a junior year that saw him become the Big East Conference's all-time leading receiver with 3,043 yards in only 34 games, apparently Britt felt that the time was right. A Third-Team Associated Press All-America selection in 2008, Britt closed out his collegiate career at Rutgers with 1,371 yards on 87 catches and seven touchdowns on the season, an average of 15.8 yards per catch. Britt was also selected First-Team All-Big East after leading the league in both receptions and receiving yards. He finished second in the nation in receiving yards per game with 114.2 and eighth in receptions per game with 7.4. Britt was also awarded Rutgers' eighth annual Tri-State Player of the Year Award. This is an honor that was also bestowed upon the likes of Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian Westbrook, as well as Britt's former Rutgers teammate running back Ray Rice, currently with the Baltimore Ravens. Strengths
Weaknesses
Expected draft placementPrior to the 2009 NFL Scouting Combine, Britt was projected primarily as a second-round draft pick. However, his performance at the combine has his stock on the rise, and if there is a run on wide receivers, which there very well could be this year, Britt could be chosen in the latter part of the first round. Any one of the following teams could select Britt in the late first or early second rounds: Philadelphia Eagles, Miami Dolphins, Baltimore Ravens, New York Giants, Tennessee Titans, New England Patriots, Cleveland Browns and Seattle Seahawks. Britt's Pro Day is March 23, and if he is able to continue to improve his numbers, Britt can solidify his status as a late first-round pick. More likely, though, is an early second-round selection for the Scarlet Knights. About John Kotch Jr.
