In this article KFFL breaks down fantasy football sleepers of the week. We will avoid marquee names, because players of that caliber are rarely benched, regardless of their matchup. Instead, we will focus on the players that make your fantasy lineup decisions stressful each week. Read on to learn which midrange to low-end players that you wouldn't necessarily consider that you need to get into your lineup.

Fantasy football sleepers: Defensive linemen

Justin Smith, San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks

Fantasy value: Weak No. 2 or strong No. 3

  • Smith led 49ers defensive linemen with seven tackles (three solo) and 0.5 sacks in Week 1.
  • The loss of offensive guard Rob Sims (pectoral) could further strain the Seahawks offensive line.
  • The Seahawks gave up 26 total tackles (18 solo) and 4.0 sacks to opposing linemen last week.

Marcus Stroud, Buffalo Bills at Jacksonville Jaguars

Fantasy value: Midrange No. 3

  • Stroud finished with six tackles (three solo) and 0.5 sacks in Week 1.
  • Titans linemen finished with 22 total tackles (18 solo) and a league-leading 6.0 sacks against the Jaguars last week.
  • The Jaguars are missing their starting center Brad Meester (biceps), as well as offensive guards Maurice Williams (biceps) and Vincent Manuwai (knee), which could open up space on the interior of their line.

Charles Grant, New Orleans Saints at Washington Redskins

Fantasy value: Midrange No. 3

  • Grant managed three tackles - all solo - and a lone sack in Week 1.
  • The Redskins allowed 24 total tackles (19 solo) and a single sack to Giants linemen last week.

Fantasy football sleepers: Linebackers

Jarret Johnson, Baltimore Ravens at Houston Texans

Fantasy value: Strong No. 2 or weak No. 3

  • Johnson was the leading tackler among Ravens linebackers with six total tackles (five solo) and 1.0 sack last week.
  • The Houston Texans allowed 31 total tackles (23 solo), 4.5 sacks and one interception to this position in Week 1.

Michael Boley, Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Fantasy value: Midrange No. 3

  • Boley recorded seven tackles (six solo) in Week 1.
  • The Buccaneers gave up 25 total tackles (21 solo) and one interception to this position last week.

Pat Thomas, Kansas City Chiefs vs. Oakland Raiders

Fantasy value: Midrange No. 3

  • Thomas tied for the team lead with seven tackles (five solo) for the Chiefs in Week 1.
  • Broncos linebackers totaled 31 tackles (24 solo) and 1.0 sack against the Raiders in their Week 1 matchup.
  • The Raiders' weak receiving corps could force the team to rely more heavily on the run than usual and their tight ends this week; this could be beneficial to Thomas, the team's middle linebacker.

Fantasy football sleepers: Defensive backs

Tye Hill, St. Louis Rams vs. New York Giants

Fantasy value: Midrange No. 2

  • He finished with six total tackles (all were solo) in Week 1.
  • The Giants allowed 31 total tackles (26 solo), 0.5 sacks and one interception to Redskins defensive backs last week.

Marquand Manuel, Denver Broncos vs. San Diego Chargers

Fantasy value: Midrange No. 2

  • Manuel (thumb) managed six tackles (all solo) against the Raiders last week.
  • The Chargers gave up 23 total tackles (21 solo) to this position in Week 1.

C.C. Brown, Houston Texans vs. Baltimore Ravens

Fantasy value: Midrange No. 3

  • Brown led the Texans defensive backs in tackles with six total tackles (four solo) in Week 1.
  • Against the Ravens last week, Bengals defensive backs finished with 28 total tackles (23 solo).
