Umenyiora could also lose a $500,000 escalator on his base salaries in each of the last three seasons of his contract if he recorded two seasons of 13 or more sacks from 2007-09. He will have to record at least 13 sacks next season if he wants to activate that escalator. Finally, he will lose another $100,000 because he did not attend 90 percent of the team's offseason workouts. In total, Umenyiora will lose $600,000 and possibly as much as $2.1 million.
