Texas Rangers SS Michael Young to miss about a week

Richard Durrett, of The Dallas Morning News, reports Texas Rangers shortstop Michael Young (finger) fractured his right ring finger Monday, July 28, and will miss at least five to seven days. The All-Star is having another solid season with a .298 average, eight homers, 58 RBIs and seven steals.

Young said he hopes to return before the five-to-seven-day window. It's unlikely the team would place him on the disabled list because that knocks him out a minimum of 15 days. Therefore, fantasy owners should place him on their bench until he returns to the lineup.

Rangers utilityman Ramon Vazquez is having a career year with a .309 average, five homers and 31 RBIs in 220 at-bats. He will probably fill in for Young at shortstop and may have minimal fantasy potential based on the matchups; he hits right-handed pitching (.328, all five of his home runs in 186 at-bats) much better than left-handed pitching (.206 in 34 at-bats).
