QB | Brett Favre | Retired | Draft Information
Jay Glazer, of, reports the Green Bay Packers have no intention of releasing QB Brett Favre, according to sources. Sources say the team is prepared to welcome Favre back to the team as a backup to QB Aaron Rodgers. The Packers would likely trade Favre before releasing him, sources have stated. Favre informed the team that he wanted to play again in late March during the NFL Owners Meeting, according to sources, who have spoken to Head coach Mike McCarthy and general manager Ted Thompson agreed that Favre has what it takes to play again and were going to charter a jet to Mississippi to announce that Favre would be back in 2008. Two days before the announcement, Favre notified McCarthy that he changed his mind and wanted to remain retired. Team officials were shocked at Favre's decision to stay retired but decided to move on and head into the NFL Draft, with the team drafting QB Brian Brohm and QB Matt Flynn. A few weeks ago, Favre spoke with the team via phone and said that he wanted to play again. The team had already decided to move on with QB Aaron Rodgers expected to be the starting quarterback.

Dan Martin, of the New York Post, reports New York Giants DL Justin Tuck knows several players on the team will have to step up and lead the team after the retirement of DL Michael Strahan. Tuck thinks QB Eli Manning needs to be the main leader of the team for them to be successful this year. "I think the No. 1 candidate to really make a difference will be our quarterback, especially after the run he had in the playoffs," Tuck said. "He's still growing and I don't think anyone looks at him as Peyton's little brother anymore. I'm pulling for him."

Josina Anderson, of, reports free-agent RB Travis Henry (Broncos) has tested positive for marijuana, according to a highly placed league source. "He is coming up for a year suspension," the source said. This is the second time Henry is facing a possible one-year suspension from the NFL.

Steve Yingling, of The Denver Post, reports Denver Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan still has faith in WR Brandon Marshall and has not given any indication that he will suspend Marshall. "I can't go into great detail, for obvious reasons, but Brandon has a good upside and he's a real good kid," said Shanahan. "I feel very good where Brandon's at. I think he'll be fine."

He was booked on a charge of possession of a controlled substance early Thursday, July 10.
