Fantasy Football and NFL News, Rumors and Injury UpdatesNFC East Fantasy Outlook
By Ben Rubin Note: All statistics appearing in this article are from Weeks 8-11, unless otherwise noted. Do Not Bench List - All Positions
Quarterbacks
McNabb - McNabb (ankle, thumb) was off to a terrible start before getting injured against the Dolphins in Week 11. He had thrown two interceptions and completed only three of 11 passes. His status is still unknown, so be sure to check back with KFFL for the latest update before starting him. If he's not able to start, backup A.J. Feeley is expected to take his place. If McNabb does play he is a low-end No. 1 or bench option. Manning - A solid performance from Manning was what the Giants needed, and it's what they got in a win over the Detroit Lions. Manning threw for 283 yards and a touchdown, and he didn't throw an interception. He hasn't put up the greatest numbers this year, but he's getting the job done for the Giants. Manning is a decent No. 1 or bench option but he's a strong play against the Minnesota Vikings. Campbell - Campbell had a good game against the Cowboys in a loss last Sunday, throwing for 348 yards and two touchdowns along with an interception. The interception was a costly one though, coming late in the fourth quarter to wrap up the victory for the Cowboys. This was, however, Campbell's first career 300-yard game, and he threw a touchdown to a wide receiver for the second consecutive game. Campbell is a decent No. 1 quarterback but a weak play this week against the Buccaneers. Running Backs
Jacobs - Jacobs (hamstring) left the Lions game in the third quarter with a hamstring injury. He may or may not be able to play this week, so be sure to keep updated on his status to see if he will be playing. If he gets the green light go ahead and start him as a No. 1 or No. 2 back. Droughns - If Jacobs misses the Giants next game, Droughns will likely be the starter. He had 26 yards on only three carries last week, and he could get some red zone opportunities this week. The Vikings are averaging 0.75 rushing touchdowns allowed to running backs over the past four weeks, something Droughns could capitalize on. He is a strong play as a No. 3 or injury replacement this Sunday. Portis - The Redskins threw the ball 54 times last week, which may have had a lot to do with them losing the game. As a result, Portis carried the ball only 12 times for 36 yards. The Redskins probably realize their mistake and may come out running more often next week, but against a defense that's allowed only 66.7 yards per game to running backs over the last four weeks, Portis may be in for some trouble. As a result, Portis is a decent No. 1 running back with a weak play this week. Betts - As usual, Betts didn't do much of anything last Sunday. He had only two carries for eight yards, and unless something happens to Portis, Betts probably won't do much for the rest of the year. Keep him on the bench. Wide Receivers
Burress - After finally returning to practice, it appears that Burress (ankle) will once again sit out before Week 12's game against the Vikings. While he will probably still play, his numbers have certainly decreased as nagging injuries seem to be bothering him. As a result, he's best suited as a No. 3 or injury replacement option with a strong play. Make sure to be positive he's starting before you put him in your lineup. Toomer - Toomer hasn't been playing as well as he was earlier in the season, as he's now averaging less than 30 yards receiving per game. Until he picks up his play he should be strictly bench material. Brown - Brown had another disappointing week last week catching only two passes for 18 yards. After his stats had increased towards the middle of the season, his receptions per game gave decreased dramatically and now so have his total yardage. This week isn't looking like a great rebound week as Brown, a No. 2 or 3 receiving option is a weak play against the New England Patriots. Curtis - After catching five passes for 69 yards against the Dolphins, Curtis and the Eagles head to New England to play a Patriots pass defense that has allowed only 102.7 yards and 0.33 touchdowns per game to wide receivers over the last four weeks. Certainly not an easy task for him or any Eagles receiver this week, and because of that, Curtis, a No. 3 or injury replacement option is a weak play this Sunday. Moss - Moss (heel) finally notched his first touchdown of the season in a loss against the Cowboys last Sunday. He also had his first 100-yard game of the season, catching nine passes for 121 yards and a touchdown. His heel is still not close to 100 percent, but he is expected to play this week against the Buccaneers. Moss is a No. 2 or 3 option but a weak play this week. Randle El - Randle El (shoulder, upper chest) got involved in just about everything this past week. He completed a pass for 19 yards, attempted a rush (for no gain) and caught seven passes for 53 yards. He still has a shoulder problem, and also injured his chest during the Cowboys game, but he is expected to play in Week 12. Randle El is an injury replacement or bench option, and is a weak play against the Buccaneers this week. Tight Ends
Smith - Smith seems to finally be putting up the numbers expected of him earlier in the season. He had four more catches for 49 yards against the Dolphins last Sunday, and he's a decent No. 1 or injury replacement option at tight end. Smith is a weak play this week against the Patriots. Shockey - Shockey had five receptions in a win over the Lions, but only 41 yards to show for it. Shockey continues to get the ball, a good sign that his 129-yard, one-touchdown performance against the Cowboys in Week 10 was no fluke. Play Shockey as a No. 1 tight end this week and look for the yards to pick up the Giants play the Vikings at home. Place Kickers
Tynes - Tynes hit all three field goals he attempted in the Giants win over the Lions. He's a great No. 1 kicking option, and he's a strong play against a Vikings defense that is allowing 2.75 field goals and 2.25 extra points per game over the last four weeks. Akers - Akers is still a very consistent kicker, but he's not scoring enough to be as productive as he once was. He's only hit two field goals from further than 40 yards this year. He's best suited to stay on your bench this week as a weak play. Suisham - After hitting three of four field goals last Sunday, Suisham has now hit 10 field goals in four games. This week, Suisham heads to Tampa Bay where he is a weak play as a low-end No. 1 kicker. Defensive Teams
Giants - The Giants take on the Vikings, one of the NFL's premiere rushing teams, this week. Even without star rookie running back Adrian Peterson (knee), fellow running back Chester Taylor is a serious threat in his place. The Giants defense has been good though, and it will be interesting to see if they can shut down the Vikings rush offense. They are a strong play as a top-tier No. 1 defense this week. Eagles - The Eagles get the unfortunate task of playing the league's most dominant offensive team on the road this week. The Patriots, who are averaging 40.0 points per game over the last four weeks, haven't gone easy on anybody after taking a lead, and they look to continue scoring without turning the ball over throughout the game. The Eagles should certainly stay on your bench this week as a weak play. Redskins - The Buccaneers are scoring 21.7 points per game over the last four weeks, turning the ball over 1.7 times per game and allowing 2.0 sacks per contest as well. While all of those categories add up to be worth more points than the Redskins current averages on defense, those current averages are not good at all. Don't get fooled into starting Washington this week and keep them on the bench as a weak play. More Articles You Will Like
