Fantasy Football and NFL News, Rumors and Injury UpdatesNFC East Fantasy Outlook
By Ben Rubin Note: All statistics appearing in this article are from Weeks 3-6, unless otherwise noted. Do Not Bench List - All Positions
Quarterbacks
McNabb - Following a 333-yard performance against the Minnesota Vikings, McNabb will take on the Dallas Cowboys in a game of division rivals. McNabb played great last week, though he only threw for one touchdown, and this week he is a strong play. Campbell - Just when it seemed that Campbell was adapting nicely to the starting quarterback role, he had to go and face arguably the toughest team in the NFL. It was clear that he'll need to improve if he wants his team to advance into the playoffs this year, and his stats further exemplify this. He lost three fumbles against the New England Patriots in Week 8, while keeping his passing yards from topping 200. Campbell is a decent No. 1 option, but is better suited to remain on your bench. Running Backs
Jones - You're probably a bit disappointed if you've had Jones on your fantasy roster this season. Only averaging forty yards per game, Jones has yet to reach the end zone in his last three games. This week as the Cowboys take on the Philadelphia Eagles, Jones is a weak play. Barber - Barber has slowed down quite a bit from his early season success, but he's still putting up pretty decent numbers. Coming off the bye week, the Cowboys may hold up on their running game a bit, due to the Eagles success at stopping the run. Considering that he has a tougher challenge ahead of him this week, and he is a weak play against the Eagles. Portis - If there's one team the Redskins would've wanted to play following their humiliating defeat against the Patriots, it's the 1-7 New York Jets. There 27th ranked rushing defense in the NFL is good news for Portis, as well. He only rushed for 27 yards last week, while he had double that receiving. Portis did suffer a minor hand injury that kept him out for a couple of series, but he is expected to be fine. He's a strong play this week against the Jets. Betts - Though Portis struggled, Betts still didn't receive many carries in Week 8, recording only three for nine yards. Though Betts did return kicks for the Redskins, that shouldn't be enough to boost him into your lineup. Unless Portis continues to struggle, or gets injured, keep Betts on your bench. Wide Receivers
Crayton - Crayton is catching more touchdowns than he had previously, but his receiving yards are still a little low. His Hamstring kept him out of some recent practices, so check up on his status as the week progresses to be sure he's playing. Otherwise, he's a weak play against the Eagles, but he should still be a decent No. 2 or 3 receiver for you. Brown - The biggest fantasy disappointment over the early part of the season has really turned it around lately. Though he has yet to find the end zone, he has made significant progress. Last week marked the first time he caught for over 100 yards. Against the Cowboys in Week 9, Brown is a strong play. Curtis - As McNabb continues to get used to his receivers, their seasons continue to improve. Curtis is averaging 86.3 yards receiving per game over the last four weeks, and he seems to be one of McNabb's main targets in the end zone. Expect him to keep this up, and consider him a reliable No. 2 receiver and a strong play this week. Moss - As the Redskins offense continues to struggle, so does the production of its wide receivers. Even though he still hasn't completely healed from his groin and hamstring injuries, he is only averaging 16.3 yards receiving over his last three games. At this point it's best to keep him on your bench. Randle El - It hasn't been a great year to be a Redskins wide receiver, as Campbell has yet to throw a touchdown pass to one. Tough to be good fantasy receivers when you can't get a touchdown pass all year, as has been the case for Randle El. He hasn't had that bad of games, but he still has yet to catch for a touchdown. He is, however, a strong play this week against the Jets. Tight Ends
Witten - Witten is having one of the better seasons of all tight ends so far this year. He's averaging 78.7 yards receiving over his last three games, which is very good for a tight end, and he's catching touchdowns as well. Overall, you can't be disappointed with Witten so far, and he doesn't show any signs of slowing down. He's a strong play this week against the Eagles. Smith - Between injuries and surgeries, it's been a dreadful year for Smith thus far. He was supposed to be healthy in this game, but didn't even catch one pass. It's been a terrible season if you've had him on your team, and even though he is supposed to be healthy now, it's best to keep him on the bench until he shows any progress. He's a weak play against the Cowboys this week. Cooley - Contrary to Redskins receivers, it's been a great season for Chris Cooley. He is getting into the end zone often for the Redskins, and he's often their whole passing offense, averaging 0.75 touchdowns a game. Cooley is a good No. 1 option, but against the Jets Cooley is a weak play. Place Kickers
Folk - Folk has hit seven of eight field goals in his last three games, and he looks to keep up the pace against the Eagles this week. In addition to the field goals, he averages 2.33 extra points per game, making him a pretty good kicker for your fantasy team. He's a No. 1 option for your team, and a strong play this week. Akers - A consistent fantasy best, Akers has continued to produce in 2007. He's averaging three field goals per game, and he could keep that up this week against the Dallas Cowboys. He's the No. 1 rated fantasy kicker this week, and he is a strong play against the Cowboys. Suisham - Suisham has not put up anything close to good numbers this year, hitting only one field goal in his past four games. There is no reason for you to start him unless your No. 1 kicker is injured. Defensive Teams
Cowboys - The Philadelphia Eagles offense isn't something the Cowboys should be scared of, but it's also not an offense to overlook. Their receivers are starting to pick up in production, McNabb is settling in nicely again, and Westbrook is always a threat. The Cowboys are really more of a bye week replacement or bench option for your team, and that's how they should be treated this week. They should only start if your regular defense is on its bye week. Eagles - The Eagles are a pretty good defense, holding opponents to only 14.7 points per game over their last three. Still, the Cowboys are a threat they need to take seriously, and this week may not be the best week to play them. They are typically a No. 1 defense or bye week replacement. Redskins - The Redskins D should be thrilled with their match up this week; A New York Jets offense that is averaging only 284.2 yards per game, and hasn't scored a touchdown their last two home games. They are a No. 1 defense and a strong play this week. More Articles You Will Like
