The Associated Press reports Arizona Cardinals head coach Dennis Green announced rookie QB Matt Leinart will start the Week 5 game against the Kansas City Chiefs. QB Kurt Warner said, "I'm going to do whatever I can to help him. Maybe he can turn things around. Obviously, I was disappointed and frustrated. I wasn't making enough plays to help us win."

QB | Drew Brees | New Orleans Saints | Fantasy
The Associated Press reports New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees was 28-of-38 passing for 349 yards and a touchdown during the Saints' Week 4 loss to the Carolina Panthers. It was the Saints first defeat of the year and the team is now 3-1 on the season. Brees made the game interesting with an 86-yard touchdown pass to rookie WR Marques Colston late in the game. Followed by Brees's pass to WR Joe Horn on the 2-point conversion, the score was 21-18 with 1:15 left in the game. Panthers RB Nick Goings recovered the onside kick to end the game and even the Panthers record at 2-2.


Running Back

Mike Sando, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports Seattle Seahawks RB Shaun Alexander (foot) is expected to miss the team's Week 6 game. He has another X-ray and possibly another MRI schedule for Monday, Oct. 9.

Randy Lange, of the Bergen Record, reports New York Jets RB Cedric Houston (knee) suffered a left knee injury during Week 4. He could not put any pressure on his leg as he left the field but was able to put more pressure on it following the game. He left the game with his knee splinted and on crutches. He is expected to undergo an MRI. Head coach Eric Mangini did not offer any updates on his status Monday, Oct. 2.

Albert Breer, writing for the Boston Herald, reports New England Patriots RB Laurence Maroney ran for 125 yards on 15 carries during the team's Week 4 win against the Cincinnati Bengals. Maroney's numbers were the most by a Patriots rookie since former Patriots RB Robert Edwards, who had 24 carries for 196 yards Dec. 13, 1998. Maroney also scored two touchdowns in the game which made him the first rookie to score on the ground multiple times since former Patriots RB Curtis Martin did it five times in 1995. Maroney was a part of one of the team's most productive ground attacks since Dec. 26, 1993 when the team had 257 yards on 58 carries. The Patriots had 238 yards on 4 carries during the Week 4 game.

That's where I noticed the difference: Guys doing it the way they're asked to do it. I didn't have to worry about the guy taking off his helmet on the field and things like that. He was taken for X-rays following the game, but the team has not released the results. Coles said in the locker room following the game that he was OK and he left the game carrying bags in both arms. Head coach Eric Mangini did not comment on his status Monday, Oct. 2.
