"We'll go on from there." Asked if Williams was better but just not where he needs to be yet, Marinelli said: "Right." Later, Marinelli said: "There are certain standards we want, and we're going to keep pushing it." Marinelli declined to tell the media why Williams wasn't good enough, and there is a disagreement over whether anyone has told Williams. Williams said Marinelli and offensive coordinator Mike Martz met with him at the end of last week., but he said he still didn't know exactly what he needed to do to get onto the field.

His recovery time is estimated at two to four weeks, but he's likely to do all he can to rejoin the Dallas Cowboys in 20 days for his much-anticipated return to Philadelphia. The Cowboys are off this Sunday, Sept. 24, and then play at Tennessee before the game against the Eagles. If things go well, perhaps Owens plays against the Titans.
