Elizabeth Merrill, of The Kansas City Star, reports the NFL said Cincinnati Bengals LB Robert Geathers did not have complete control of his body when his shoulder hit Kansas City Chiefs QB Trent Green (concussion) during a slide. Video of the play showed that Geathers hit Green as a result of a block in the back. NFL senior vice president Ray Anderson said Geathers twisted his torso to avoid a helmet-to-helmet collision and added, "The injury ... was unfortunate and has drawn much commentary, but it is not a foul. In other instances, this contact might be illegal, since a defensive player has the responsibility to avoid unnecessary contact even when he is blocked by an opponent. However, in this case, the late slide and the block in the back were mitigating factors."

Updating a previous report, Geoff Hobson, of Bengals.com, reports Cincinnati Bengals WR Chris Henry will have to get approval to travel to games while on a two-year probation, and he will not be allowed to consume any alcohol during that time. Henry might also avoid being suspended without pay by the NFL as a player can only be suspended after he has admitted guilt for two criminal violations. Henry has a pending DUI case, set for Thursday, Oct. 19, where if he pleads guilty he would likely face a fine, which is the traditional penalty for that type of infringement.
