Quarterback

QB | J.P. Losman | Buffalo Bills | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
BuffaloBills.com reports the Buffalo Bills general manager Marv Levy has put a stop to trade rumors surrounding QB J.P. Losman, denying allegations made by unnamed sources. "There really is no substance to that report. We've made no overtures to anyone. No one has approached us and even if they did, we have a regard for J.P. He's a young quarterback who has put in that learning time. I can name countless others who have gone through this process," Levy said. "… So, as we said before, it's an open competition at quarterback and J.P. is very much a part of it and we fully intend to have him in it."

QB | Jake Plummer | Denver Broncos | Fantasy
Jeff Legwold, of the Rocky Mountain News, reports Denver Broncos QB Jake Plummer said he believes the team's goal for 2006 will be to find some pop in the offense. "I think we lacked some big plays," said Plummer about the 2005 season. "The year before, we had a bunch. Obviously, we have to get the touchdown production up. If we're doing that with our defense, that will lead to hopefully more wins."

QB | Steve McNair | Tennessee Titans | Fantasy
Jim Wyatt, of the Tennessean, reports agent Bus Cook said if talks on a properly restructured contract with the Tennessee Titans for QB Steve McNair do not progress, the team should release McNair. "He is under contract, so they have to do what they have to do,'' Cook said. "But if we can't agree on a new deal that compensates him for 2-3 years on his existing deal, the right thing to do is release him. But that is their choice.'' McNair has one year remaining on his contract, which is scheduled to pay him $9 million in base salary in 2006. He will count $23.46 million against the team's salary cap. Cook said there's little reason to believe contract talks will improve any time soon, though he said he expects to talk to general manager Floyd Reese in the coming days.

QB | Matt Schaub | Atlanta Falcons | Fantasy
Kevin Seifert, of The Star Tribune, reports the Atlanta Falcons are standing pat on their demands for a first-round draft pick in a trade for backup QB Matt Schaub. The Minnesota Vikings and the Falcons have discussed a possible trade for the quarterback but nothing was offered; they could resume talks down the road.

QB | Brett Favre | Green Bay Packers | Fantasy
Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports asked when he thought there might be an announcement from Green Bay Packers QB Brett Favre regarding Favre's future, agent Bus Cook said, "I would think we would have something relatively soon - within the next couple of weeks, I'd guess. But I don't know, I really don't."

QB | Joey Harrington | Detroit Lions | Injury News
Harvey Fialkov, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports a source claims Detroit Lions QB Joey Harrington prefers the Miami Dolphins over the Cincinnati Bengals because he feels he will have more of an opportunity to display his skills while Dolphins QB Daunte Culpepper (knee) recovers from knee surgery. Both Harrington and Culpepper are entering a new system, while Bengals QB Carson Palmer has three years of experience in the Bengals system.

QB | Kerry Collins | Free Agent Players | Free Agency News
Adam Schefter, of NFL.com, reports the Baltimore Ravens were the only team to speak with free agent QB Kerry Collins (Raiders) about playing in 2005. However, the Ravens were not offering Collins enough money to make it worth his while, which could force him into thinking retirement.

Running Back

WR | Ashley Lelie | Denver Broncos | Fantasy

WR | Antonio Bryant | San Francisco 49ers | Fantasy
Charean Williams, of the Star-Telegram, reports San Francisco 49ers WR Antonio Bryant has been on his best behavior since signing with team earlier this offseason. By default, Bryant has become the team's No. 1 receiver. He is participating in the 49ers' off-season program, head coach Mike Nolan said. "I can get criticized for Antonio Bryant, because he has some issues," Nolan said, referring to Bryant throwing his jersey in the face of Dallas Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells. "But I think we have the environment to handle that. Even if it isn't his maturity coming along, we've got the things around him to make it right. I don't think it's his character as much as he's a volatile personality guy."

WR | Terrell Owens | Dallas Cowboys | Fantasy
According to FOXSports.com's John Czarnecki, Dallas Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells was reportedly not keen on the team acquiring WR Terrell Owens. That's not exactly true. Twice in the final week of negotiations with Owens and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, Dallas owner Jerry Jones and his son, Stephen, the club's contract negotiator, asked Parcells if he was OK with Owens; talks heated up, and he gave the thumbs up. A lot of football people believe that Parcells and Owens won't be able to co-exist, but they fail to realize that Owens has always been a very strong practice player besides being very competitive on the field. Now that he has his money in Dallas, Jones and the Cowboys expect Owens to be on his best behavior this season. The 2007 season could be a different story for Owens, but by that time Parcells may retire.

WR | Ricky Proehl | Free Agent Players | Free Agency News
Mike Garafolo, of the Star-Ledger, reports agent Alan Herman has had a preliminary conversation with the New York Giants about free agent WR Ricky Proehl (Panthers). Proehl wanted to return to the Panthers but realized his days in Carolina were over when the team signed WR Keyshawn Johnson. "At this point, I'm just trying to identify the places where Ricky would want to play," said Herman. "Obviously, coming from (New Jersey), the Giants were one of those places. But we haven't had any serious talks with them at this point. We've just touched base." Herman expects Proehl to finalize his list of targets Friday, March 31, or Saturday, April 1, at which point the agent will begin contract discussions with interested teams.

Tight End

TE | Kellen Winslow Jr. | Cleveland Browns | Injury News, Fantasy
Terry Pluto, of the Akron Beacon Journal, reports Cleveland Browns general manager Phil Savage said he expects TE Kellen Winslow Jr. (knee) to return to the field by June, if not sooner. It was a "scope" procedure, and it showed the knee is healing well.

He was injured while working out on his own away from Halas Hall. "It might take me a little longer to get back to full tilt like I've been, but I will be fine," said Johnson. LB | LaVar Arrington | Free Agent Players | Free Agency News
Paul Schwartz, of the New York Post, reports the New York Giants and free agent LB LaVar Arrington (Redskins) have not been able to reach a contract agreement and money appears to be the key issue. The Giants have real interest in Arrington but have engaged in no real substantive talks with his agents since making an offer three weeks ago. Arrington met the Giant coaching staff but did not take a physical or work out for the team. After the visit, the framework of a contract proposal was presented to Arrington's agents, Carl and Kevin Poston. It was considerably less money than what the Poston's were seeking. The Giants have not announced they have ceased negotiations or taken their offer off the table, but the difference in the contract offered and sought is so great that there is not much to talk about.

LB | Chad Brown | Free Agent Players | Free Agency News

The Seahawks have targeted cornerback and safety as need areas entering this next stage of free agency and the NFL Draft later this month.

CB | Ike Taylor | Pittsburgh Steelers | Free Agency News
Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports agent Scott Smith met with Pittsburgh Steelers negotiator Omar Khan Wednesday, April 5, to discuss a long-term contract for Steelers' CB Ike Taylor. Smith expects to stay in Pittsburgh through the weekend to try to come to terms with the club. Taylor is currently a restricted free agent. If Taylor does not sign a long-term deal, he would play for his one-year tender and become an unrestricted free agent in 2007.

CB | Charles Woodson | Free Agent Players | Free Agency News
Ira Kaufman, of the Tampa Tribune, reports free agent CB Charles Woodson (Raiders) could choose the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because of the team's status in the division and because of his familiarity with head coach Jon Gruden and general manager Bruce Allen, according to his agent Carl Poston. Poston said, "Charles wants to win, and that's the bottom line. He went 12-0 his last year at Michigan and won a national championship. Now, he wants that Super Bowl ring and he wants to join a team that's committed to winning." The Buccaneers would likely shift Woodson to safety if he signs with the team.
