Matchup notes

2B Scooter Gennett, Milwaukee Brewers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks (May 5-7)

With his high-BA game and destruction of right-handed pitching, the keystoner has left Rickie Weeks in the dust. He'll get to his at his advantageous home park in this trio while also lining up against three righty members of Arizona's woeful rotation: Mike Bolsinger, Josh Collmenter and Bronson Arroyo.

OF David Murphy, Cleveland Indians vs. Minnesota Twins (May 5-8)

Murphy, as per usual, has fared much better versus right-handed pitchers (.308/.403/.481 in 52 AB) than southpaws (.231/.259/.346 in 26 AB). The Twinkies don't have a left-hander in their quintet, which has been awful on the road, so expect Murphy to have plenty of chances to go to town.

OF Andre Ethier, Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Francisco Giants (May 8-11)

Don Mattingly has been playing matchups with his outfielders, and Ethier has pulled ahead of fellow LHB Carl Crawford. Expect Ethier to get more time against the Giants, whom he has punished with a .295 BA with a .372 on-base percentage in 448 at-bats over his career. He's faced Matt Cain more than any other pitcher and has tagged him for a .429-1-6 line in 70 AB.
