Diamondbacks | Mark Trumbo to DL
The Arizona Diamondbacks officially placed OF Mark Trumbo (foot) on the 15-day disabled list Thursday, April 24, and recalled OF Roger Kieschnick from Triple-A Reno in a corresponding move.
Fantasy Tip: Kieschnick will provide the Snakes with outfield insurance. He can be ignored in most formats. Be prepared for a long absence for Trumbo. More here.
Padres | Chase Headley expected to miss 2-3 weeks
Updating a previous report, San Diego Padres 3B Chase Headley (calf) is expected to miss two to three weeks. It's not the same calf he injured in spring training, and Headley said this injury isn't as bad, but he'll still need to go on the disabled list. The team is expected to disable him Friday, April 25, and call up INF Jace Peterson from Double-A San Antonio.
Fantasy Tip: Not good news for Headley owners. Alexi Amarista would likely take over the majority of the starting duties at the hot corner. The tiny utility infielder makes plenty of contact, but doesn't offer much else. He's a warm body as middle infield depth in NL-only leagues with consistent PT.
Rangers | Shin-Soo Choo improving
Texas Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo (ankle) is reporting improvement in his sprained left ankle, and the team is hoping he'll avoid the disabled list.
Fantasy Tip: Choo remains day-to-day and could play Friday, but if he's unable to play by this weekend, expect the Rangers to seriously consider putting him on the DL. Keep Choo on your bench until further notice.
Athletics | Yoenis Cespedes expected to miss some games
Updating a previous report, Oakland Athletics OF Yoenis Cespedes (hamstring) suffered a left hamstring injury during the game Thursday, April 24, and likely will miss a few games.
Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor the situation in case Cespedes needs to go on the disabled list because of the injury. OF Craig Gentry could see more playing time if Cespedes misses an extended period of time and could be a short-term option in AL-only and deeper leagues.
