8) SP Justin Masterson, Cleveland Indians
Rudy Gamble, Razzball | Roster
I love Masterson at the price I have gotten him in LABR (14th round) and in this draft. He had a great 2013, good K rate and great GB rate. Anything close to 2013 numbers make this a great value. My expectations are 3.80/1.30 with close to 8.00 K/9.
9) 2B Brian Dozier, Minnesota Twins
Mark Bloom, RotoExperts | Roster
Taveras should debut
It looked like I could use another MI. Thus, I picked Dozier. He is a poor man's Jason Kipnis. Or maybe a rich man's Gordon Beckham. Either way, he will add power and speed to my roster.
10) OF Alfonso Soriano, New York Yankees
Nicholas Minnix, KFFL | Roster
I hadn't taken an OF since Round 4, just an FYI. There's widespread concern about OF depth, even in mixed leagues, this year, but. ... Not that I expect Soriano to repeat 34 home runs, 18 thefts or even 600-plus PAs, but when I can nab him this late and hope for something close, it feels kind of lucky.
11) 2B Neil Walker, Pittsburgh Pirates
Ryan Bloomfield, Baseball HQ | Roster
Walker stood out to me as the top remaining MI option. Coming off a down year but has been a consistent double-digit HR guy with decent AVG. Can't hurt this late.
12) OF Dexter Fowler, Houston Astros
Jeff Paur, RTSports | Roster
I almost took Fowler instead of Yelich a few rounds back, so I'm more than happy to get him two rounds later. Fowler has plenty of potential with his move to Houston. I expect his home run totals and average to increase some this season.
13) RP Tommy Hunter, Baltimore Orioles
Howard Bender, FanGraphs | Roster
Stunned that Jones was taken, I was forced into taking Hunter, who has the better job security of the two remaining closers on the board. His move to the pen last year was a success and the spike in velocity only breeds more hope for success as a closer.
14) OF Oscar Taveras, St. Louis Cardinals
Andrew Martinez, Rotowire | Roster
With only two OFs to this point, I really needed to address the position and don't want to pass up on Taveras' upside.
15) SP Matt Garza, Milwaukee Brewers
Steve Gardner, USA TODAY/Sports Weekly | Roster
I needed a starting pitcher with only three on my roster through 14 rounds. The best pitcher left on my board was clearly Garza, who has a solid strikeout rate and shouldn't hurt my ratios.
