Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman will make $135 million over his eight-year contract extension.

The New York Mets remain interested in free-agent SS Stephen Drew (Red Sox) but are considered long shots to sign him at this point.

New York Yankees pitching coach Larry Rothschild said SP CC Sabathia increased his throwing program this offseason in order to increase his arm strength and stamina. "The last couple winters, three or four really, he hasn't been able to do a lot with going back to his knee and then the elbow last winter," Rothschild said. "He's been able to do a lot more this winter, so coming into spring training I think he'll be in a little different place than he has been the last couple years."

The Atlanta Braves are unlikely to work out a long-term deal with RP Craig Kimbrel before the two sides head to a salary arbitration hearing. He asked for $9 million, while the Braves countered at $6.55 million.

New York Yankees RP David Robertson isn't worried about becoming the new closer after the retirement of RP Mariano Rivera. "It's the same deal," Robertson said Tuesday after a pre-spring training workout at the Yankees' minor league complex. "Throwing the eighth or ninth inning, you've still got to get three outs. You've got to be effective. You can't give up a lead. I'm not going to try to overthink the whole situation."
