First Baseman

1B | James Loney | free agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
Free-agent 1B James Loney (Rays) is believed to be seeking a deal around three years for $27-30 million. He began the winter searching for a four-year deal worth around $40 million.

1B | Paul Konerko | Chicago White Sox | Transaction, Fantasy
The Chicago White Sox have agreed with DH Paul Konerko, likely to a one-year deal. He will likely have a reduced role in what could be his final season.

Second Baseman

2B | Kelly Johnson | New York Yankees | Transaction, Free Agents, Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, the New York Yankees officially agreed to sign free-agent INF Kelly Johnson (Rays) to a one-year deal in the $3 million range pending a physical. He has been signed to play either second or third base. He will play third base if 3B Alex Rodriguez opens the season suspended, and second base if 2B Robinson Cano is not brought back.

Third Baseman

3B | Ryan Zimmerman | Washington Nationals | Injury, Fantasy
Washington Nationals 3B Ryan Zimmerman (shoulder) said Wednesday, Dec. 4, that he feels physically and mentally over last winter's shoulder operation.

3B | Yan Gomes | Cleveland Indians | Fantasy
Cleveland Indians C Carlos Santana will play some third base in the Dominican Republic Winter League this offseason, but manage Terry Francona described it as more of an experiment than anything. "He's going to go over there and play a little third, just to see. He came up as a third baseman, but I think he's about eight years removed. It can't hurt anything. He wanted to get some at-bats anyway. If he wants to go over there and do that, all that can really happen is positive," Francona said.

Santana was used more as a designated hitter and first baseman with C Yan Gomes emerging as a better defensive catcher last season. Santana expressed late last year that serving as the DH wasn't ideal for him. "We don't want him to be a full-time DH," Francona said. "It's actually kind of a unique situation. His ability to move around impacts everybody else. His bat, we want it right in the middle of our batting order. And his ability to play first and catch, that's kind of a unique skillset. The more positions he can play, it just allows us to get more bats into the lineup. He's open to it, so we're willing to be open also."

3B | Miguel Cabrera | Detroit Tigers | Fantasy
Detroit Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski said 3B Miguel Cabrera will play at first base next season and OF Nick Castellanos will be the starting third baseman.

Catcher

C | J.P. Arencibia | free agent | Transaction, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, the Texas Rangers had serious trade discussions with the Toronto Blue Jays about C J.P. Arencibia before he was non-tendered Monday, Dec. 2, according to industry sources. However, while the trade was close, the Rangers were reluctant to add another arbitration-eligible player.

C | Carlos Santana | Cleveland Indians | Fantasy
Cleveland Indians C Carlos Santana will play some third base in the Dominican Republic Winter League this offseason, but manage Terry Francona described it as more of an experiment than anything. "He's going to go over there and play a little third, just to see. He came up as a third baseman, but I think he's about eight years removed. It can't hurt anything. He wanted to get some at-bats anyway. If he wants to go over there and do that, all that can really happen is positive," Francona said.

Outfielder

OF | Shin-Soo Choo | free agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
The Baltimore Orioles are active in free-agent talks for bats and arms, according to sources. The team has interest in free-agent OF Shin-Soo Choo (Reds), OF Nelson Cruz (Rangers) and SP Ubaldo Jimenez (Indians).

OF | Matt Kemp | Los Angeles Dodgers | Transaction, Fantasy
The Boston Red Sox would eat some money in the right deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers for Matt Kemp, according to beat writer Nick Cafardo.

OF | Curtis Granderson | free agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
The New York Mets, Chicago White Sox and Seattle Mariners have the most interest in signing free-agent OF Curtis Granderson (Yankees).

OF | Jackie Bradley | Boston Red Sox | Fantasy
Boston Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington said OF Jackie Bradley is a candidate to take over in center field after the departure of OF Jacoby Ellsbury to the New York Yankees.

OF | Yoenis Cespedes | Oakland Athletics | Fantasy,
The Arizona Diamondbacks discussed a trade that would have sent them Oakland Athletics OF Yoenis Cespedes in exchange for SP Tyler Skaggs, OF A.J. Pollock and others, but neither team was comfortable with the deal. The A's are only willing to trade Cespedes for a larger package in return.

OF | Mark Trumbo | Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim | Fantasy
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Mark Trumbo is unlikely to be traded this offseason. The team had been seeking an elite young starter in return.

Starting Pitcher

SP | Ryan Vogelsong | San Francisco Giants | Fantasy,
San Francisco Giants SP Ryan Vogelsong will receive $5 million in guaranteed money in 2014, and incentives can take the total value of as high as $7.5 million. The team declined a $6.5 million option.

Relief Pitcher

RP | Aroldis Chapman | Cincinnati Reds | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy,
Cincinnati Reds general manager Walt Jocketty indicated in a conference call Wednesday, Dec. 4, that the team is leaning towards keeping RP Aroldis Chapman in the closer's role rather than starting him. While manager Brian Price wasn't ready to commit on Chapman's role, he said he is "comfortable" with Chapman in the bullpen. "We've had some internal dialogue on that," Price said. "I don't think it's something where I feel comfortable saying 'this is exactly what we're going to do'. I have my opinion on it. I know that his value for us that last couple of years has been as a closer."

RP | Joe Nathan | Detroit Tigers | Fantasy,
Detroit Tigers RP Joe Nathan will make $9 million next year and $10 million in 2015. His deal includes a $10 million option for the 2016 season with a $1 million buyout. He's guaranteed $20 million.
