First Baseman

1B | Garrett Jones | Pittsburgh Pirates | Transaction, Fantasy
The Baltimore Orioles are thought to have little interest in Pittsburgh Pirates 1B Garrett Jones, who was designated for assignment on Monday, Nov. 25.

1B | Mitch Moreland | Texas Rangers | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
The Tampa Bay Rays appear to have interest in Texas Rangers 1B Mitch Moreland, who may be expendable following the trade for 1B Prince Fielder from the Detroit Tigers. It is thought the Rays might want to trade SP David Price, and the Rangers have expressed interest.

1B | Justin Morneau | free agent | Free Agents
The Colorado Rockies have strong interest in free-agent 1B Justin Morneau (Pirates).

Second Baseman

2B | Omar Infante | free agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
The New York Yankees are interested in free-agent 2B Omar Infante (Tigers).

2B | Robinson Cano | free agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
The New York Yankees met with free-agent 2B Robinson Cano's (Yankees) agents Tuesday, Nov. 26, but "the gap is still very substantial."

Shortstop

SS | Jed Lowrie | Oakland Athletics | Transaction, Fantasy
There has been significant interest in teams asking about the availability of Oakland Athletics SS Jed Lowrie, but the team has no other big-league options at that position, and acquiring a good everyday major-league shortstop is difficult, so moving Lowrie seems highly unlikely.

SS | Ruben Tejada | New York Mets | Fantasy
New York Mets SS Ruben Tejada may return next year as the starting shortstop. General manager Sandy Alderson said there isn't much attractive at the position on the open market, although a trade was always a possibility. Tejada hit just .202 in 208 at-bats before being sent to the minors last year.

Third Baseman

3B | Chase Headley | San Diego Padres | Transaction, Fantasy
There hasn't been any evidence of substantive contract talks between the San Diego Padres and 3B Chase Headley. The agent for Headley could not be reached, and Headley has not said whether this will become a distraction in the offseason. Word going around is that there's zero traction in contract talks after a brief conversation or two earlier this month. It is appearing less likely that a long-term deal will be done with the Padres, and the team could potentially trade him.

Catcher

C | Jarrod Saltalamacchia | free agent | Transaction, Free Agents, Fantasy
The Chicago White Sox are surveying the catching market, but are not viewed as a fit for free-agent C Jarrod Saltalamacchia (Red Sox).

C | Joe Mauer | Minnesota Twins | Transaction, Free Agents, Fantasy
The Minnesota Twins are one of a handful of teams that might be able to pry free-agent C Jarrod Saltalamacchia from the incumbent Boston Red Sox. The team had to move C Joe Mauer to first base, so they have an opening behind the plate.

C | Wilin Rosario | Colorado Rockies | Transaction, Free Agents, Fantasy
The Colorado Rockies have been identified as one team that might be interested in signing free-agent C Jarrod Saltalamacchia (Red Sox). The team has tossed around the idea of moving C Wilin Rosario to the outfield.

C | Mike Napoli | free agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
The Miami Marlins have discussed signing free-agent C Mike Napoli (Red Sox). Napoli is a South Florida native.

Outfielder

OF | Curtis Granderson | free agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
The New York Mets are thought to be pursuing OF Nelson Cruz and OF Curtis Granderson in free agency, according to sources. Mets general manager Sandy Alderson checked in on OF Ryan Braun with the Milwaukee Brewers but was told Braun was unavailable.

OF | Mark Trumbo | Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim | Fantasy
The Colorado Rockies have talked with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim about acquiring 1B/OF Mark Trumbo. Several other teams are interested in Trumbo at this point. The Rockies are also talking about relief pitchers with the Kansas City Royals.

OF | Carlos Beltran | free agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
There is mutual interest between the New York Yankees and OF Carlos Beltran, but it is thought Beltran will not make a decision this week on where to sign. The holdup between the two sides is that Beltran and his representatives at MVP Sports Group are currently seeking a three-year deal, and the Yankees would prefer to sign him for two years, according to team sources. However, the addition of a third year isn't a deal-breaker for the Yankees.

OF | Jacoby Ellsbury | free agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
The Seattle Mariners' free-agent wish list includes, to varying degrees, OF Nelson Cruz, OF Carlos Beltran, OF Jacoby Ellsbury and OF Shin-Soo Choo. The team also wants to add a starting pitcher and a closer, but offense is the priority. The Mariners are casting the widest net possible, fearing they still might get shut out.

OF | Byron Buxton | Minnesota Twins | Injury, Fantasy
Minnesota Twins OF Byron Buxton (shoulder) is nursing a strained left shoulder, and he is expected to continue resting through the Thanksgiving weekend. He might resume baseball activities next week.

OF | Chris B. Young | New York Mets | Fantasy
New York Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said OFs Juan Lagares and Chris B. Young will compete for the center field spot next season, but he also left with a strong impression that it's Lagares' job to lose. "So I think Chris is in a competition for center field. … I think, realistically, we'll see what Juan does offensively in spring training and go from there. I won't be surprised to see Juan Lagares in center for the first exhibition game and Chris in right or left." Young is expected to bat somewhere between fifth and seventh in the lineup.

Starting Pitcher

SP | Brett Anderson | Oakland Athletics | Transaction, Fantasy,
The Toronto Blue Jays are among several teams expressing an interest in trading for Oakland Athletics SP Brett Anderson.

SP | Bartolo Colon | free agent | Free Agents, Fantasy,
The Oakland Athletics continue to work to re-sign free-agent SP Bartolo Colon (Athletics), although nothing is imminent.

SP | Matt Garza | free agent | Free Agents, Fantasy,
The Minnesota Twins are interested in pretty much all free-agent pitching this offseason, with SPs Bronson Arroyo (Reds), Ricky Nolasco (Dodgers) and Matt Garza (Rangers) being linked to them the most. They've also asked about free-agent SPs Ervin Santana (Royals) and Ubaldo Jimenez (Indians), as well as SPs Phil Hughes (Yankees), Scott Feldman (Orioles) and Mike Pelfrey (Twins).

Relief Pitcher

RP | Pedro Strop | Chicago Cubs | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy,
Chicago Cubs pitching coach Chris Bosio suggested Tuesday, Nov. 26, that RPs Pedro Strop and Hector Rondon could compete for the closer's job.

RP | Jose Veras | free agent | Free Agents
The Colorado Rockies have free-agent RP Jose Veras (Tigers) as one of their top targets.
