Fantasy Football Daily Rundown: Tuesday, Nov. 19

by KFFL Staff on November 19, 2013 @ 13:04:29 PDT

QB | Andy Dalton | Cincinnati Bengals | Fantasy
Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton is confident in the midst of a rough three-game stretch. "I'm confident as ever," Dalton said. "You have to have confidence. For us, as a team, we feel like we're in control of everything and that's where we want to be at this point." He had three touchdowns against the Cleveland Browns in Week 11 but compiled just 93 yards passing for a 48.1 percent completion rating, a 62.7 passer rating and a career-low 3.7 QBR rating. Dalton has tossed at least one interception in his last four games, including eight in his last three.

Dalton has shown signs of taking the next step this year, only to take two steps back. With the right matchup, he's a midrange QB1, but he's better left as a capable backup in your fantasy leagues.

QB | Michael Vick | Philadelphia Eagles | Injury, Fantasy
Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick (hamstring) said he expects to be fully healthy following the team's Week 12 bye. He was limited in practice Tuesday, Nov. 19.

Vick isn't guaranteed to get the starting QB job back if he's healthy, however, based on the way Nick Foles has played in his absence. Leave Vick on your bench or send him to the waiver wire if you need an extra spot.

QB | Matt McGloin | Oakland Raiders | Injury, Fantasy
Oakland Raiders head coach Dennis Allen said he hasn't decided if QB Matt McGloin will receive his second straight start over QB Terrelle Pryor (knee). McGloin was 18-for-32 for 197 yards and three touchdowns in the Week 11 win over the Houston Texans. Allen will gauge Pryor's health this week before making a decision.

QB | Robert Griffin III | Washington Redskins | Fantasy
Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said opposing teams are trying to stop the pass first against them this year, with more seven-man boxes to help with downfield coverage. QB Robert Griffin III complained after their Week 11 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles that it seemed as though they always knew what was coming in the passing game. "Our first year everyone played us with eight-man fronts, sometimes almost nine-man fronts," Shanahan said. "When you do that you have guys wide open like we did last year. That's one reason the play-action was so good. This year (teams are saying), 'We're playing you more passing and you have to earn the right in that run game.'"

QB | Jay Cutler | Chicago Bears | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler (ankle) said he hopes to be able to play in the team's Week 13 game but is not sure if he will able to play that week because there are some ligament issues in his injured ankle.

QB | Geno Smith | New York Jets | Fantasy
New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said the team will stick with QB Geno Smith as the starter in Week 12 against the Baltimore Ravens. "Without question, Geno's going to start this game," Ryan said. However, Ryan said he could give QB Matt Simms more first-team repetitions in practice this week.

Smith has been wildly inconsistent in his rookie season, which wasn't unexpected. Smith should be nothing more than a crapshoot as a backup QB for fantasy purposes.

QB | Case Keenum | Houston Texans | Fantasy
Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said QB Case Keenum will be the starting quarterback Week 12.

Running Back

RB | Joique Bell | Detroit Lions | Injury, Fantasy
Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (ankle) and S Glover Quin (ankle) are not dealing with season-ending injuries. "They're all short-term, day-to-day, week-to-week guys," head coach Jim Schwartz said. CB Chris Houston (hand) also left the Week 11 game with a hand injury but returned.

RB | Theo Riddick | Detroit Lions | Fantasy
Detroit Lions RB Theo Riddick, who has a similar running style to RB Reggie Bush, saw more playing time in Week 11 against the Pittsburgh Steelers after Bush lost his second fumble in the last three games. However, head coach Jim Schwartz refuses to say that Bush was benched in the contest. "It was just a couple of plays," Schwartz said. "We didn't have Joique Bell at that time, he had gone out of the game. Reggie had been taking a lot of reps. We wanted to take a little bit of that load off of him. It wasn't more than anything there."

RB | Shane Vereen | New England Patriots | Fantasy
New England Patriots RB Shane Vereen led the team with eight catches and 65 yards on 11 targets in the team's Week 11 loss to the Carolina Panthers Monday, Nov. 18, and he was lined out wide several times.

Vereen had only one rush for seven yards, but the involvement in the passing game in his first action since early this year was a bit surprising. This just speaks to the fact that he will be a PPR force for the remainder of the season and should be a weekly lineup mainstay from here on out.

RB | Trent Richardson | Indianapolis Colts | Fantasy
Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson said he doesn't think he's having that bad of a season since being traded to the Colts, despite averaging only 2.8 yards per carry. "I'm not frustrated at all because I think I've been playing good," Richardson said. "If you turn on the film, I don't have any missed assignments. I haven't had any missed reads. I've been playing good. Stuff just hasn't matched up like we thought it would when I'm in there. I think teams match up differently when I come in." Head coach Chuck Pagano also somewhat agrees that opposing defenses have sold out against the run when Richardson is on the field. RB Donald Brown remains the complementary back to Richardson, and he's stated his case for a bigger role on offense with his performances the past few weeks.

Whichever way you want to look at it, Brown is gaining momentum and more touches out of the backfield, making Richardson more of a weak RB2 or flex play each week. However, he may retain some value in point-per-reception leagues if they continue to look to get him in space with short passes like they did in Week 11.

RB | Stevan Ridley | New England Patriots | Fantasy
New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley only played on six snaps after his lost fumble in the second quarter in Week 11. RB LeGarrette Blount played on 19 snaps.

RB | Darren Sproles | New Orleans Saints | Injury, Fantasy
New Orleans Saints RB Darren Sproles (ankle, knee) was listed as a limited participant for practice Monday, Nov. 18.

Sproles was forced out of the Week 11 game against the San Francisco 49ers early, but was able to return after treatment.

RB | Darren McFadden | Oakland Raiders | Injury, Fantasy
Oakland Raiders head coach Dennis Allen said he is not sure where RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) is at in terms of his recovery from his hamstring injury but will know more Wednesday, Nov. 20.

Owners should wait to see if he will be able to practice this week before deciding on their starting lineup.

FB | Marcel Reece | Oakland Raiders | Fantasy
Oakland Raiders FB Marcel Reece became a focal point of the offense in the team's Week 11 victory over the Houston Texans after averaging just three touches in the first nine games of the year. Reece ran the ball four times for six yards and caught two passes for 17 yards.

Reece's additional playing time was likely due to Darren McFadden's (hamstring) absence. With DMC uncertain again this week, Reece could see a similar workload, but probably not enough to warrant a starting spot in your lineup.

Wide Receiver

WR | Percy Harvin | Seattle Seahawks | Fantasy
Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll admitted that WR Percy Harvin won't be limited at all when the team returns from their Week 12 bye, but they won't change the offense around to accommodate him in a bigger role, either. "We don't have to hold back and count plays and stuff like that. He'll play a regular amount as we go. He won't play every play; we're going to still rotate our guys. We're not changing the offense," Carroll said. "I told Percy that the first night I talked to him. I told him we're not going to change because you're coming to our team, we're just going to add you in and hope you can be a factor to help us, which he's going to be."

WR | Joshua Morgan | Washington Redskins | Injury, Fantasy
Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said WR Joshua Morgan, who was inactive in favor of WR Nick X. Williams as a punt returner in Week 11, could return to the starting lineup if WR Leonard Hankerson (knee) needs surgery to fix a torn lateral collateral ligament in his knee. "I've got a lot of belief in Josh Morgan," Shanahan said. "I have a lot of confidence in Josh that he'll come back strong and help us this week as a receiver. But I explained to him what he needs to do in both special teams and wide receiver to get to a level that I think he can get to. I think he has the ability to be a Pro Bowl player and I want to get that out of him." Williams muffed a punt and failed to field another against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Morgan would be, at best, a flex player in deeper leagues if Hankerson is out for extended time.

WR | Jerricho Cotchery | Pittsburgh Steelers | Fantasy
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Jerricho Cotchery caught his career-high seventh touchdown pass of the year in the team's Week 11 win over the Detroit Lions, and he remains one of QB Ben Roethlisberger's most consistent targets. "Jerricho is a conversion van. He's always going to be there. He's going to tote the family well. He's going to be safe. He makes every catch he's supposed to and makes all the plays he should make. He's an awesome player. He's underrated in this league but he's eating people up in the slot," FS Ryan Clark said.

WR | Emmanuel Sanders | Pittsburgh Steelers | Injury, Fantasy
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Emmanuel Sanders (foot) will be limited in practice this week but is expected to play in Week 12.

WR | Stevie Johnson | Buffalo Bills | Injury, Fantasy
Buffalo Bills WR Stevie Johnson (groin) said he'll play after the Week 12 bye.

WR | Miles Austin | Dallas Cowboys | Injury, Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said WR Miles Austin (hamstring) is ready to return.

He could still be a flex option with the right matchup. Keep an eye on him.

WR | Wes Welker | Denver Broncos | Injury, Fantasy
Sources are saying that Denver Broncos WR Wes Welker (concussion) is expected to be OK for Week 12 against the New England Patriots. He'll undergo baseline concussion testing Monday, Nov. 18, and will likely be limited in practice all week. He was checked by the team's training staff after suffering the injury but re-entered the game for five games. "My understanding is we followed protocol, he was cleared to return, he had symptoms that came up and he was pulled," interim head coach Jack Del Rio said Monday. "He'll go through the protocol this week ... (Doctors) checked him, allowed to return, symptoms came that were problematic and he was pulled."

WR | Keenan Allen | San Diego Chargers | Injury, Fantasy
San Diego Chargers head coach Mike McCoy said WR Keenan Allen (knee) will be fine after suffering a knee injury in the team's Week 11 game.

WR | Stephen Hill | New York Jets | Fantasy
New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said the team will consider removing WR Stephen Hill from the starting lineup.

WR | Greg Jennings | Minnesota Vikings | Injury, Fantasy
Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said he was surprised WR Greg Jennings (heel) was unable to play in Week 11 against the Seattle Seahawks, and Frazier is unsure if he'll be able to play in Week 12 against the Green Bay Packers, his former team. "I have to be careful to predict that now, because I really felt like he'd be able to go in this last ball game and it didn't work out," Frazier said. "So I have to watch him go through practice and see him do some things to be certain." Jennings is hoping to be able to play against the Packers.

Jennings is a weak WR3 or flex play if he makes it back this weekend. The uncertain quarterback situation in Minnesota isn't doing him any favors.

Tight End

TE | Tony Gonzalez | Atlanta Falcons | Injury, Fantasy
Atlanta Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez (toe) was not seen on the practice field Tuesday, Nov. 19.

TE | Michael Hoomanawanui | New England Patriots | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, New England Patriots TE Michael Hoomanawanui (knee) left the Week 11 game against the Carolina Panthers and he was unable to return due to his knee injury.

TE | Jimmy Graham | New Orleans Saints | Injury, Fantasy
New Orleans Saints TE Jimmy Graham (elbow, foot) was listed as a limited participant for practice Monday, Nov. 18.

TE | Kellen Winslow | New York Jets | Fantasy
New York Jets TE Kellen Winslow said Monday, Nov. 18, that he is not bothered by his lack of playing time following the Week 11 game against the Buffalo Bills. He played a season-low 19 percent of the snaps in the team's loss, on the field for just 11 players while catching the only ball thrown his way. "I'm in the league and I'm happy, man. I'm feeding my family and I'm good," Winslow said.
