1B | Clint Robinson | Los Angeles Dodgers | Transaction
The Los Angeles Dodgers signed free-agent 1B Clint Robinson (Blue Jays) to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training Sunday, Nov. 17.

Second Baseman

2B | Robinson Cano | free agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
The New York Yankees are making it clear to free-agent 2B Robinson Cano (Yankees) and his representatives that they are not willing to re-sign him for the $310 million he is requesting. "We want Robbie back; we think Robbie is terrific," president Randy Levine said. "But we have no interest in doing any 10-year deals and no interest in paying $300 million to any player. Until he gets a little more realistic, we have nothing to talk about." Cano's agents are trying to market him as "the next Michael Jordan."

2B | Skip Schumaker | Cincinnati Reds | Transaction, Fantasy
The Cincinnati Reds agreed to an undisclosed two-year deal with free-agent 2B Skip Schumaker (Dodgers) Monday, Nov. 18.

Shortstop

SS | Chris Valaika | Chicago Cubs | Transaction
The Chicago Cubs signed free-agent SS Chris Valaika (Marlins) to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training Monday, Nov. 18.

SS | Yonauris Rodriguez | New York Yankees | Transaction, Fantasy
The New York Yankees are planning to splurge on foreign amateurs during the 2013-14 signing period, according to rival international scouts. The team already signed Dominican OF Leonardo Molina for $1.4 million, and Dominican SS Yonauris Rodriguez for $550,000, according to reports. The signing period began July 2, and will continue into next summer.

SS | Ian Desmond | Washington Nationals | Transaction, Fantasy
Washington Nationals SS Ian Desmond is just two years away from free agency, and a candidate for a contract extension this offseason. According to Fangraphs.com, Desmond has produced 10.0 Wins Above Replacement (WAR) the past two seasons, the most of any major league shortstop, and 3.2 ahead of Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus, the next-closest player at the position.

SS | Yuniesky Betancourt | free agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
Free-agent SS Yuniesky Betancourt (Brewers) is drawing interest from five teams as a second and third baseman, according to his agent, Alex Esteban.

SS | Stephen Drew | free agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
The New York Yankees are interested in free-agent SS Stephen Drew (Red Sox), but it's unclear if Drew would want to split time with SS Derek Jeter or 3B Alex Rodriguez.

SS | Jhonny Peralta | free agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
The New York Yankees have shown interest in signing free-agent SS Jhonny Peralta (Tigers), according to sources.

Third Baseman

3B | Juan Uribe | free agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
The Los Angeles Dodgers are interested in re-signing 3B Juan Uribe, but he is seeking a three-year contract.

Catcher

C | Matt Kennelly | Atlanta Braves | Transaction
The Atlanta Braves signed free-agent C Matt Kennelly to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training Monday, Nov. 18.

C | Carlos Ruiz | Philadelphia Phillies | Transaction, Fantasy
The three-year, $26 million contract signed by Philadelphia Phillies C Carlos Ruiz contains another option other than the fourth year in 2017. Ruiz can earn an extra $500,000 each season that he catches 125 games or more.

C | Matt Wieters | Baltimore Orioles | Fantasy
A column by ESPN.com baseball writer Buster Olney suggests Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters asked for a contract similar to the eight-year, $184 million deal given to Minnesota Twins C Joe Mauer in spring training. Olney said the asking price is liable to come down following Wieters' 2013 season, but it also illustrates the sides being far apart.

C | Edward Easley | St. Louis Cardinals | Transaction
The St. Louis Cardinals signed free-agent C Edward Easley (Diamondbacks) to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training Monday, Nov. 18.

Outfielder

OF | Raul Ibanez | free agent | Free Agents
The New York Yankees are interested in free-agent OF Raul Ibanez (Mariners) to be the DH against right-handers.

OF | Kyeong Kang | Baltimore Orioles | Transaction, Fantasy,
The Baltimore Orioles signed RPs Nick Additon, SP Brock Huntzinger and OFs Chih-Hsien Chiang and Kyeong Kang to minor league contracts over the weekend.

OF | Daniel Nava | Boston Red Sox | Free Agents, Fantasy
The Boston Red Sox are likely to rebuff all trade proposals involving OF Daniel Nava this offseason. As long as the club believes Nava can play either corner outfield spot, it gives the Red Sox extra flexibility when pursuing free agents.

OF | Grady Sizemore | free agent | Injury, Transaction, Free Agents
The Philadelphia Phillies could consider making a run at free-agent OF Grady Sizemore (Indians) (knee), who has not played since 2011 due to knee injuries. However, he intends to resume his career in 2014.

OF | Peter Bourjos | Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim | Transaction, Fantasy
The Philadelphia Phillies are looking for one more outfielder, even after signing free-agent OF Marlon Byrd. The Philadelphia Phillies have long coveted Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Peter Bourjos, but a deal hasn't happened in the past because a match doesn't exist between the teams. The Angels are looking for young, affordable starting pitching, and the Phillies are considered thin at that spot. If the teams are to agree on a deal, it likely will require a third team getting involved.

Starting Pitcher

SP | Tim Hudson | San Francisco Giants | Fantasy,
Updating other items, San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson will be paid $11 million in 2014 and $12 million in 2015 as part of his two-year, $23 million deal, which also includes a no-trade clause.

SP | Jordan Zimmermann | Washington Nationals | Transaction, Fantasy,
Washington Nationals SP Jordan Zimmermann is considered a candidate for an offseason contract extension, as he is just two years away from free agency. He is ninth in the majors in ERA and 13th in ERA-plus over the past three seasons. Looking at deals of comparable guys in comparable situations, Detroit Tigers SP Justin Verlander signed for five years and $80 million and Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez for five years and $78 million when each had two years of arbitration left entering the 2010 season.

SP | Josh Johnson | free agent | Free Agents, Fantasy,
Free-agent SP Josh Johnson (Blue Jays) told the San Francisco Giants and San Diego Padres they were at the top of his list because of the proximity to his Las Vegas home.

SP | Roy Oswalt | free agent | Free Agents, Fantasy,
Free-agent SP Roy Oswalt (Rockies) intends to pitch again in 2014, but he plans on signing this offseason and taking part in spring training, unlike years past. Oswalt still prefers to start but is open to pitching in relief. He continues to look for a major league deal.

SP | Bronson Arroyo | free agent | Free Agents, Fantasy,
Free-agent SP Bronson Arroyo (Reds) is seeking a three-year deal on the free-agent market.

SP | Jeff Niemann | free agent | Transaction, Free Agents, Fantasy,
Tampa Bay Rays SP Jeff Niemann has elected free agency after declining his outright assignment to the minors.

SP | Max Scherzer | Detroit Tigers | Fantasy,
Detroit Tigers SP Max Scherzer said he would like to remain with the team amid trade rumors this winter. "I don't want to be traded," Scherzer said. "I got a great thing going in Detroit, we have a great team. I hope they don't mess with it. I want to be a Detroit Tiger and hopefully get back to the playoffs and try to do the ultimate goal and win something for the city of Detroit." Scherzer said the team hasn't approached him with discussions for a contract extension.

Relief Pitcher

RP | LaTroy Hawkins | Colorado Rockies | Fantasy,
Updating a previous item, Colorado Rockies RP LaTroy Hawkins will be paid $2.25 million for the 2014 season, but his contract also carries a $2.25 million option for 2015 or a $500,000 buyout. The deal will be official on Thursday, Nov. 21, if Hawkins passes a physical.

RP | Jim Johnson | Baltimore Orioles | Fantasy,
MASN.com sports columnist Steve Melewski believes the Baltimore Orioles would not cut CL Jim Johnson from the roster by non-tendering him later this week. Even though Johnson is owed a $10.8 million projected salary if tendered, Melewski speculates Johnson is a calming clubhouse presence and has the full trust of manager Buck Showalter.

Although Johnson did regress a bit this season, the Orioles' relief corps would be in disarray if Johnson were to be non-tendered. Another club would likely snap him up that needed relief help. Johnson remains a solid relief option heading into 2014.
