Does Jay Cutler have a chance at playing in Week 9?

Quarterback

QB | Jay Cutler | Chicago Bears | Injury, Fantasy
Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall said he believes QB Jay Cutler (groin) has a chance to play Week 9 because he is working hard in his rehab. "I'm expecting him to be on the field against Green Bay," Marshall said. "I'm not ruling out Green Bay. I heard [head coach Marc Trestman] talking about doctors, their diagnoses and talking all that big talk. But we need to get Jay out there for Green Bay."

There does not appear to be any indication that Cutler will be able to play this week. He likely will need another week or two before he can return to the starting lineup.

QB | Thaddeus Lewis | Buffalo Bills | Injury, Fantasy
Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone said if QB Thaddeus Lewis (rib, illness) is able to practice Friday, Nov. 1, his performance during practice would determine if he is able to start Week 9.

QB | Tom Brady | New England Patriots | Injury, Fantasy
New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (shoulder) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

Brady should be started in all fantasy leagues this week but should be considered a weak No. 1 quarterback.

QB | Ben Roethlisberger | Pittsburgh Steelers | Injury, Fantasy
Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (non-injury) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

Roethlisberger probably should not be an option for owners this week unless they are looking for a bye week replacement.

QB | Robert Griffin III | Washington Redskins | Injury, Fantasy
Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III (knee) practiced in full Thursday, Oct. 31.

QB | Nick Foles | Philadelphia Eagles | Injury, Fantasy
Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (concussion) practiced in full Thursday, Oct. 31.

Foles looks to be completely over his concussion symptoms and good to go against the Oakland Raiders. Foles is a borderline starter this week if you're looking for a bye week replacement in deeper leagues.

QB | Christian Ponder | Minnesota Vikings | Fantasy
Minnesota Vikings C John Sullivan is supporting QB Christian Ponder as the team's starter, and he thinks he should receive a second straight start against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9. "(Ponder) prepared really hard and he went out there and laid it all on the line," Sullivan said. "You know, you see that last run that he made when things were getting out of reach (a 19-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter against the Packers on Sunday) and he's still out there fighting until the end. I mean, that's not my decision. But I'd love to see him stay back there, of course."

Leslie Frazier is keeping everyone in the dark about who the starting quarterback will be against Dallas this weekend. It's between Ponder and Josh Freeman. Neither guy should be in your starting lineup, however, if they get the nod.

QB | Jake Locker | Tennessee Titans | Fantasy
Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (knee, hip) is still wearing a brace on his knee, but is moving better than he did prior to the team's bye week. "I just feel a lot more confident," Locker said.

Running Back

RB | DeAngelo Williams | Carolina Panthers | Injury, Fantasy
Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (quadriceps) is back at practice Friday, Nov. 1.

RB | Willis McGahee | Cleveland Browns | Injury, Fantasy
Cleveland Browns RB Willis McGahee (knee) is practicing Friday, Nov. 1.

RB | Zac Stacy | St. Louis Rams | Injury, Fantasy
St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy (foot) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

It looks like Stacy will get another start this week because he has been practicing. He should be considered a No. 2 running back or flex option this week.

RB | Doug Martin | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Injury, Fantasy
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (shoulder) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

It does not appear like Martin will play this week. Mike James likely will continue to start and should be seen as a flex option for fantasy owners.

RB | Marshawn Lynch | Seattle Seahawks | Injury, Fantasy
Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (knee) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

Owners should see if Lynch is able to practice Friday, Nov. 1, before making a decision on their lineups for the week.

RB | Jamaal Charles | Kansas City Chiefs | Injury, Fantasy
Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (knee) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

Charles is fully expected to play against the Buffalo Bills. He's the focal point of the offense and is a must-start in all fantasy formats.

RB | DeMarco Murray | Dallas Cowboys | Injury, Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

It looks like Murray will be able to return to the lineup because he has practiced the last two days. He should be in the starting lineups for owners this week as a running back or a flex option.

RB | Fred Jackson | Buffalo Bills | Injury, Fantasy
Buffalo Bills RB Fred Jackson (knee) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

It looks like Jackson will be good to go in Week 9. Get him into your starting lineups as you normally would.

RB | C.J. Spiller | Buffalo Bills | Injury, Fantasy
Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller (ankle), WR Stevie Johnson (hip), LB Manny Lawson (hamstring), QB EJ Manuel (knee) and CB Brandon E. Smith (illness) all were limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 31. WR Marquise Goodwin (elbow), DT Kyle D. Williams (Achilles) and RB Fred Jackson (knee) all were full participants. QB Thaddeus Lewis (ribs) and WR Chris Hogan (back) both did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

RB | Ben Tate | Houston Texans | Injury, Fantasy
Houston Texans RB Ben Tate (ribs) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

RB | Arian Foster | Houston Texans | Injury, Fantasy
Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (hamstring) took all scheduled reps in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

This is terrific news for Foster and his owners. If he is in, he must be in your starting lineup in Week 9.

Wide Receiver

WR | Roddy White | Atlanta Falcons | Injury, Fantasy
Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (ankle, hamstring) returned to practice Friday, Nov. 1, after visiting with a team doctor Thursday, Oct. 31. White ran a few individual drills at the start of the practice Friday and will be listed as limited for the session. Head coach Mike Smith said White's status for Week 9 against the Carolina Panthers is uncertain.

It looks like White will be questionable again this weekend, and it looks very iffy that he'll play. He's just having a really tough time bucking his multiple injuries. Leave him on your bench. Harry Douglas and Drew Davis will continue to see more targets in the passing game if White remains out.

WR | Percy Harvin | Seattle Seahawks | Injury, Fantasy
Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said that WR Percy Harvin (hip) will not play in Week 9 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. "Percy won't play this week," Carroll said. "He's getting close, but not close enough." The team has two weeks to activate Harvin from the Physically Unable to Perform list. WR Jermaine Kearse will start this weekend.

WR | Tavon Austin | St. Louis Rams | Fantasy
St. Louis Rams WR Tavon Austin admitted playing in the NFL was a little more difficult than he thought. He is tied for the league lead with seven drops. "This isn't supposed to be easy," Austin said. "Maybe it was a little harder than I thought at first. But all I can do is keep working."

WR | Brandon Marshall | Chicago Bears | Injury, Fantasy
Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall said he believes QB Jay Cutler (groin) has a chance to play Week 9 because he is working hard in his rehab. "I'm expecting him to be on the field against Green Bay," Marshall said. "I'm not ruling out Green Bay. I heard [head coach Marc Trestman] talking about doctors, their diagnoses and talking all that big talk. But we need to get Jay out there for Green Bay."

There does not appear to be any indication that Cutler will be able to play this week. He likely will need another week or two before he can return to the starting lineup.

WR | Austin Pettis | St. Louis Rams | Injury, Fantasy
St. Louis Rams WR Austin Pettis (thigh) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

Pettis should be considered a No. 3 wide receiver for fantasy owners this week if he is able to play.

WR | Julian Edelman | New England Patriots | Injury, Fantasy
New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (thigh) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

Edelman probably should not be considered as more than a flex option for owners this week.

WR | Danny Amendola | New England Patriots | Injury, Fantasy
New England Patriots WR Danny Amendola (groin) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

Amendola appears to be on track to play this week and should be seen as a No. 3 wide receiver.

WR | Greg Jennings | Minnesota Vikings | Injury, Fantasy
Minnesota Vikings WR Greg Jennings (knee) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

Jennings has a nice matchup against the Dallas Cowboys this week, but the quarterback unrest will continue to limit his value to that of a WR3 or flex play.

WR | Donnie Avery | Kansas City Chiefs | Injury, Fantasy
Kansas City Chiefs WR Donnie Avery (shoulder) practiced in full Thursday, Oct. 31.

The matchup against the Buffalo Bills is a good one this weekend, but how much will KC be forced to throw the ball? For this reason, consider Avery a flex in deeper leagues. He should be able to suit up.

WR | Dwayne Bowe | Kansas City Chiefs | Injury, Fantasy
Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe (groin) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

It's a mild concern that Bowe went from a full practice Wednesday to being limited today. The matchup against the Buffalo Bills this weekend, in theory, should get him out of his funk, but it's not a guarantee. In the Chiefs offense, there isn't much upside for boom potential anymore. Consider him more of a WR3.

WR | Darrius Heyward-Bey | Indianapolis Colts | Injury, Fantasy
Indianapolis Colts WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

Owners should check on Heyward-Bey's practice participation Friday, Nov. 1, to get a better idea of his status for the game. If he is able to play, he should be considered a No. 3 wide receiver or a flex option.

WR | Miles Austin | Dallas Cowboys | Injury, Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys WR Miles Austin (hamstring) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

It does not appear like Austin will play Week 9 because of his hamstring injury. Austin likely will sit out until his hamstring is fully healed because the team does not want him to have any setbacks.

WR | Jeremy Kerley | New York Jets | Fantasy
New York Jets WR Jeremy Kerley (illness) practiced in full Thursday, Oct. 31.

Kerley isn't dealing with an injury, so he should be a full go for Week 9.

WR | David Nelson | New York Jets | Injury, Fantasy
New York Jets WR David Nelson (quadriceps) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

Nelson has developed some nice chemistry with Geno Smith in the passing game and should be considered a WR3 or flex in Week 9 against the New Orleans Saints.

WR | Stephen Hill | New York Jets | Injury, Fantasy
New York Jets WR Stephen Hill (foot) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

Hill should see some more looks with Jeff Cumberland (concussion) out of action versus the New Orleans Saints. Hill is a decent flex option in deeper universes.

WR | Santonio Holmes | New York Jets | Injury, Fantasy
New York Jets WR Santonio Holmes (hamstring) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

Holmes is doing individual drills during practice and has been feeling much better. But to be safe, expect the Jets to wait to bring him back until after their Week 10 bye.

WR | Kenny Stills | New Orleans Saints | Injury, Fantasy
New Orleans Saints WR Kenny Stills (knee) practiced in full Thursday, Oct. 31.

Stills' injury does not appear to be serious at all. He's a hot waiver wire commodity this week after his explosion with two touchdowns in Week 8. With Jimmy Graham (foot) returning to full health and Lance Moore around, however, Stills involvement may be inconsistent. Beware not to put too much stock into one week worth of production from him.

WR | Marques Colston | New Orleans Saints | Injury, Fantasy
New Orleans Saints WR Marques Colston (knee) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

It's a good sign that he practiced at all Thursday, but we get the sense that Colston's injuries this year have been more serious than the team has let on. He's been a massive disappointment. At this point, don't expect more than WR3 or flex production.

WR | Pierre Garcon | Washington Redskins | Injury, Fantasy
Washington Redskins WR Pierre Garcon (calf) practiced in full Thursday, Oct. 31.

As expected, Garcon looks to be just fine for Week 9 against the San Diego Chargers. Leave him in your starting lineups.

WR | Leonard Hankerson | Washington Redskins | Injury, Fantasy
Washington Redskins WR Leonard Hankerson (foot) practiced in full Thursday, Oct. 31.

WR | Eddie Royal | San Diego Chargers | Injury, Fantasy
San Diego Chargers WR Eddie Royal (toe) did not practice again Thursday, Oct. 31.

Royal missed practice all of two weeks ago and still had a productive day against the Jacksonville Jaguars, so he still has a chance to play against the Washington Redskins this weekend. Keep that in mind. He'll be a WR3 or flex option if he plays.

WR | James Jones | Green Bay Packers | Injury, Fantasy
Green Bay Packers WR James Jones (knee) was listed as a limited participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 31, and hasn't practiced in full since spraining his left knee Oct. 13.

It looks like Jones may have a tough time making it back for the Week 9 game against the Chicago Bears Monday night. It'd be extremely risky to leave him in your starting lineup. Jarrett Boykin remains a nice flex option with Jones out.

WR | Stevie Johnson | Buffalo Bills | Injury, Fantasy
Buffalo Bills WR Stevie Johnson (hip) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

Tight End

TE | Rob Gronkowski | New England Patriots | Injury, Fantasy
New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (back, forearm, hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

Gronkowski should be started in all fantasy leagues this week.

TE | Heath Miller | Pittsburgh Steelers | Injury, Fantasy
Pittsburgh Steelers TE Heath Miller (non-injury) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

Miller has been a solid performer in the team's passing game this season and should be considered a starting tight end or flex option for owners this week.

TE | Anthony Fasano | Kansas City Chiefs | Injury, Fantasy
Kansas City Chiefs TE Anthony Fasano (knee, ankle) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 31. OT Eric Fisher (knee, back), S Kendrick Lewis (ankle), TE Sean McGrath (knee), LB Dezman Moses (toe), CB Ron Parker (toe) and RB Anthony Sherman (knee, calf) practiced in full.

TE | Jimmy Graham | New Orleans Saints | Injury, Fantasy
New Orleans Saints TE Jimmy Graham (foot) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

Place Kicker

PK | Blair Walsh | Minnesota Vikings | Injury, Fantasy
Minnesota Vikings RB Matt Asiata (shoulder), CB Chris Cook (hip), TE Rhett Ellison (ankle) and S Jamarca Sanford (groin) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 31. DT Fred Evans (knee) and OT Phil Loadholt (illness) were limited. LB Chad Greenway (wrist), CB A.J. Jefferson (ankle), WR Rodney Smith (hip), PK Blair Walsh (hamstring) and DT Kevin Williams (knee) practiced in full.
