Will Falcons RB Steven Jackson play in Week 7?

Quarterback

QB | Josh Freeman | Minnesota Vikings | Fantasy
The Minnesota Vikings could start QB Josh Freeman this week if they are satisfied with his knowledge of the playbook.

We have a feeling that he has a good chance to play this week. They play on Monday night against the New York Giants, and he would be a solid QB2 play if he can run a full offense. Adrian Peterson's fantasy outlook would improve drastically with Freeman under center. Jerome Simpson could have better consistency if he and Freeman are on the same page. However, Freeman has never really used tight ends too much, which could hurt Kyle Rudolph's value.

QB | Terrelle Pryor | Oakland Raiders | Fantasy
Oakland Raiders head coach Dennis Allen is content with sticking with QB Terrelle Pryor as the quarterback of the present and future for the franchise. "I mean, I don't think he played as well as he would have liked. But again, he's still a young player. That was only his fifth start of the season. So he still has a lot growing to do and a lot of getting better to do, but he's a talented player and we're going to try and continue to build with him and try to grow with him," Allen said. The Raiders are content with Pryor as their leader and will not create competition for his job, despite his disappointing showing in Week 6 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Raiders realize they'll have to take the ups and downs from Pryor as he learns from his mistakes as a starting QB. You'll have to do so, too, if you own Pryor. The mistakes will be there, but his upside has shone through at moments this year. He can give you more than most other QBs can at times, too, when he scrambles out of the pocket and creates plays.

QB | Jake Locker | Tennessee Titans | Injury, Fantasy
Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (hip) will begin "football activities" this week, according to head coach Mike Munchak. There is a chance that Locker could return in Week 7 against the San Francisco 49ers, but it is unlikely. RB Shonn Greene (knee) is also expected to ramp up his activities this week. Locker isn't being ruled out this weekend, but the more likely scenario is that he returns after the team's Week 8 bye.

QB | Michael Vick | Philadelphia Eagles | Injury, Fantasy
Updating previous reports, Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick (hamstring) said he's dealing with a "bad pull" of his hamstring and that he was only at "60, 65 percent" last week. "I feel it getting better," Vick said. "It's just when I try to burst, that knot is still there. I think another week of rehab can put me in position where I can start gaining some confidence in it and doing things I normally do. ... It can be re-aggravated quickly. Because mine is up so high, and the way I run, I've got to take precautions. I can't overdo it. If I do, it can be another two to three weeks."

Well, there you have it, folks. Straight from the horse's mouth. Don't expect Vick to start for the second straight week. Philly knows how injury-prone he is, too, so they'll want him fully healthy before bringing him back. Stay patient.

QB | Matt Schaub | Houston Texans | Injury, Fantasy
Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub (ankle) said he heard his ankle pop when he was injured during the team's Week 6 game. "It popped and must've come out and come back in place. … It could have been drastically worse," said Schaub, who was forced to leave the game and was replaced by backup QB T.J. Yates. Schaub said his ailment affects his ankle and foot, and he's still hoping to play against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7. If he can't go, either Yates or QB Case Keenum will suit up.

It doesn't sound promising right now that Schaub will be able to return in time to take on one of the better defenses in the NFL. That tough task will likely fall to Yates, instead. If you own the Chiefs defense, you're sitting pretty.

Running Back

RB | Peyton Hillis | New York Giants | Transaction, Free Agents, Fantasy
The New York Giants signed free-agent RB Peyton Hillis (Buccaneers) to an undisclosed deal.

Hillis is likely serving as insurance in case Brandon Jacobs can't handle the load. Even then, Andre Brown (leg) is expected back in a couple of weeks.

RB | Steven Jackson | Atlanta Falcons | Injury, Fantasy
Atlanta Falcons RB Steven Jackson (hamstring) is unlikely to return to action in Week 7.

Expect a heavy dosage of Jacquizz Rodgers with Jason Snelling (concussion) likely healthy enough to take the short yardage and goal-line work.

RB | Marshawn Lynch | Seattle Seahawks | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, the Seattle Seahawks said Tuesday, Oct. 15, that RB Marshawn Lynch (hip) should be listed on the injury report with a hip injury, not an ankle injury, as previously reported.

RB | Chris Ivory | New York Jets | Fantasy
New York Jets RB Chris Ivory is expected to have a bigger role in the backfield with RB Mike Goodson (knee) now out for the season. Ivory had only four carries in Week 6 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and he has 115 yards on 34 carries this season. "It hasn't been tough yet," Ivory said. "I don't feel like I'm sitting back waiting on my time. I just feel like we could run the ball more. We're not doing that, but I think it will get better."

Ivory should now be a waiver wire target in deeper leagues for those either hoping to handcuff Bilal Powell or build running back depth.

RB | Miguel Maysonet | New York Jets | Injury, Transaction, Fantasy
The New York Jets placed WR Clyde Gates (shoulder) and RB Mike Goodson (knee) on the season-ending Injured Reserve Tuesday, Oct. 15. Gates had 12 catches for 122 yards on the season. The team also signed RB Miguel Maysonet from the practice squad to their active roster.

RB | Da'Rel Scott | Free Agent | Transaction, Free Agents, Fantasy
The New York Giants waived RB Da'Rel Scott Tuesday, Oct. 15. The team also released LB Darin Drakeford from the practice squad.

Brandon Jacobs will be the main ball carrier now, with Michael Cox likely spelling him at times. It looks as though the G-Men will sign either Danny Ware or Peyton Hillis to the squad tomorrow.

Wide Receiver

WR | Jacoby Jones | Baltimore Ravens | Fantasy
Baltimore Ravens WR Jacoby Jones impressed the team in his Week 6 return and will be utilized more on offense moving forward. "It was great," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. "Jacoby gave us a speed element out there, and he'll probably play more and more offensively as we go forward."

Monitor his usage, and keep him on your watch list as a bye-week fill-in for now.

WR | Larry Fitzgerald | Arizona Cardinals | Injury, Fantasy
Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (hamstring) was limited in practice Tuesday, Oct. 15.

WR | Randall Cobb | Green Bay Packers | Injury, Transaction, Fantasy
The Green Bay Packers placed WR Randall Cobb (leg) on the Injured Reserve-Designated to Return list Tuesday, Oct. 15.

WR | Clyde Gates | New York Jets | Injury, Transaction, Fantasy
The New York Jets placed WR Clyde Gates (shoulder) and RB Mike Goodson (knee) on the season-ending Injured Reserve Tuesday, Oct. 15. Gates had 12 catches for 122 yards on the season. The team also signed RB Miguel Maysonet from the practice squad to their active roster.

WR | Markus Wheaton | Pittsburgh Steelers | Injury, Fantasy
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Markus Wheaton (finger) has been ruled out with a finger injury in Week 7.

WR | Greg Salas | New York Jets | Transaction, Fantasy
The New York Jets signed WR Greg Salas off the Philadelphia Eagles' practice squad Tuesday, Oct. 15.

WR | Miles Austin | Dallas Cowboys | Injury, Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said WR Miles Austin (hamstring) was just "OK" in his return to action in Week 6 against the Washington Redskins. "He's clearly working his way back into it. I don't think he looked as explosive as he did early on in the year. He's clearly trying to get his hamstring healthy. He came through the game, looked like he was able to function, everything we asked him to do. But he's a work in progress coming back," Garrett said. Austin was targeted four times in the game and went without a catch, but he barely missed a touchdown on a pass that was deflected by a defender.

The Philadelphia Eagles in Week 7 present another decent opportunity for Austin to get back on track after missing two games with the hamstring ailment. However, you have to wonder how healthy he is, and with Terrance Williams able to provide Tony Romo with another outlet, Austin shouldn't inspire much confidence in his owners just yet.

WR | Joshua Cribbs | New York Jets | Transaction, Fantasy
The New York Jets are signing free-agent WR Joshua Cribbs (Raiders) to an undisclosed deal Tuesday, Oct. 15.

Cribbs' fantasy value will likely be minimal with Santonio Holmes (hamstring) still out of the picture for at least another week. Ignore Cribbs for now.

WR | Mario Manningham | San Francisco 49ers | Injury, Fantasy
San Francisco 49ers WR Mario Manningham (knee), DT Quinton Dial (toe), CB Eric Wright (undisclosed) and DE Cornellius Carradine (knee) will return to practice Tuesday, Oct. 15.

WR | Cecil Shorts | Jacksonville Jaguars | Injury, Fantasy
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Cecil Shorts (shoulder) has not been ruled out for Week 7 yet.

We don't see any reason to push him this weekend. Look for other options for this week.

WR | Percy Harvin | Seattle Seahawks | Injury, Fantasy
Although it's unlikely that Seattle Seahawks WR Percy Harvin (hip) will return to practice this week, head coach Pete Carroll is optimistic that the team could have him in action in three weeks. "He really ran well last week and ran well in pregame, I don't know if you guys saw that. He's fast and moving at a good clip. I don't know until we get to our meetings with our trainers. The doctors are here this morning to see if they want to go ahead and let him practice, but he's getting really close," Carroll said.

The best-case-scenario for Seattle is that they'll get Harvin back in a month. How effective he'll be at that point is a shot in the dark. But Harvin's raw athleticism and speed makes him worth speculating on soon if he's still floating around on your league's waiver wire.

Tight End

TE | Zach Miller | Seattle Seahawks | Injury, Fantasy
Seattle Seahawks TE Zach Miller (hamstring) practiced in full Tuesday, Oct. 15.

TE | Rob Housler | Arizona Cardinals | Injury, Fantasy
Arizona Cardinals LB John Abraham (shoulder), DE Calais Campbell (neck), LB Karlos Dansby (quadriceps) and TE Rob Housler (ankle) were limited in practice Tuesday, Oct. 15.

TE | Jermichael Finley | Green Bay Packers | Injury, Fantasy
Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley may line up as a wide receiver starting in Week 7 against the Cleveland Browns with WR Randall Cobb (fibula) on the Injured Reserve and WR James Jones' (knee) availability in question.

Cobb will be out until the final month of the season, so Finley's usage and targets will go up rather significantly, assuming Green Bay doesn't shift to a heavy run-centric game. Jarrett Boykin deserves consideration as a waiver wire addition; he'll be lined up often in the team's three-receiver sets without Cobb around.

TE | Brent Celek | Philadelphia Eagles | Fantasy
Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek had a 12 percent decrease in his offensive snaps in Week 6 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and it was attributed to the hot conditions in Tampa during the game. "We knew that going in," head coach Chip Kelly said. "We were going to try to play a lot more guys in those situations."

Celek remains the primary tight end in Philly, but Zach Ertz is now listed as a co-starter, so you have to wonder if he'll start cutting into Celek's workload.

TE | Zach Ertz | Philadelphia Eagles | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz is now listed as a co-starter with TE Brent Celek.

TE | Timothy Wright | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Fantasy
Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Timothy Wright had seven catches for 91 yards in Week 6, and he has become a dependable target for QB Mike Glennon. Four of his catches were on third down and moved the chains.

He's still behind Tom Crabtree on the depth chart, but he could emerge as a sleeper for a bye-week fill-in.
