First Baseman

1B | Lance Berkman | Texas Rangers | Fantasy
Texas Rangers 1B Lance Berkman is not ready to decide if he'll retire after this season, but Berkman admits he is not close to 100 percent. "I've had four surgeries on that knee, and I have arthritis in it. I'm just old... I'm waiting to get to the offseason and see how it goes. I haven't really made any kind of announcement," Berkman said.

1B | Paul Konerko | Chicago White Sox | Injury, Fantasy
Chicago White Sox 1B Paul Konerko (knee) left the game Tuesday, Sept. 24, against the Cleveland Indians after fouling a ball off his knee.

Second Baseman

2B | Dan Uggla | Atlanta Braves | Fantasy
Atlanta Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez is giving 2B Dan Uggla and OF B.J. Upton more opportunities down the stretch, trying to let them work out of their slumps. "B.J. and I have struggled more than we can ever imagine," Uggla said. "Believe me, it's not from a lack of work and effort. We've had so many blisters on our hands from hitting in the cage. But now it's time to stop working on things. You've got to realize who you are as a hitter and what kind of hitter you are and go with it."

2B | Marco Scutaro | San Francisco Giants | Injury, Fantasy
San Francisco Giants 2B Marco Scutaro (pinkie) has been shut down for the remaining regular season schedule. He visited with a hand specialist and will wear a splint on his finger.

2B | Jordany Valdespin | New York Mets | Transaction, Fantasy
New York Mets 2B Jordany Valdespin has been reinstated from the restricted list after his 50-game suspension is over. He's not on the active roster, though, and the team will decide if they want to keep him around in the offseason.

2B | Alexi Casilla | Baltimore Orioles | Injury, Fantasy
Baltimore Orioles 2B Alexi Casilla (head, thumb) is with the team but won't play Tuesday, Sept. 24. He is still foggy and doesn't remember the end of the game after being injured Monday, Sept. 23.

SS | Jose Iglesias | Detroit Tigers | Injury, Fantasy
Detroit Tigers SS SS Jose Iglesias (hand) hit off a tee and hit soft toss Tuesday, Sept. 24. He hopes he can do the drills with more intensity Wednesday, Sept. 25.

SS | Jhonny Peralta | Detroit Tigers | Injury, Fantasy
Detroit Tigers SS Jhonny Peralta will serve the final game of his suspension Wednesday, Sept. 25, and is eligible to return Friday, Sept. 27, after the team's off day. He's expected to play left field once SS Jose Iglesias (hand) returns.

SS | Didi Gregorius | Arizona Diamondbacks | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
The emergence of SS Chris Owings may cause problems for the Arizona Diamondbacks because SS prospect Didi Gregorius is at the position, and the team doesn't want to platoon if it can help it. "You'd like to see them get more at-bats, but if it becomes a platoon situation where one's facing lefties and one's facing righties, who's got the hot hand, you can probably make it work," general manager Kevin Towers said. "It's probably no different than what we've had to do with our outfielders, juggling them around a little bit."

SS | Ronny Cedeno | San Diego Padres | Injury, Fantasy
San Diego Padres SS Ronny Cedeno (head) was struck in the head by a fastball Monday, Sept. 23, and he was sidelined Tuesday, Sept. 24. "I'm better than yesterday," Cedeno said. "It hit me pretty good. I don't think I'm going to do anything today. I have a little bit (of a headache), a little foggy."

SS | Yunel Escobar | Tampa Bay Rays | Injury, Fantasy

SS | Jean Segura | Milwaukee Brewers | Injury, Fantasy
Milwaukee Brewers SS Jean Segura (hamstring) is still dealing with discomfort in his strained left hamstring, and manager Ron Roenicke said Segura will not return until the pain ceases. "'Seggy' ran at 80 percent today good, tried to push it farther and he felt it. Not that he felt it pull, but he felt it being tight," Roenicke said Tuesday, Sept. 24. "So he backed off, and we're not there yet. I was talking to the trainers and they want to make sure he's close to 100. Hopefully we'll get there if not tomorrow then the next day. If he could play the last day or two, I'd be fine with that."

Third Baseman

3B | Manny Machado | Baltimore Orioles | Injury, Fantasy
Baltimore Orioles 3B Manny Machado (knee) is not dealing with a torn medial collateral ligament or anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. He will be shut down for six to eight weeks with a torn medial patellar ligament and will seek a second opinion.

Let out that sigh of relief, all of you Machado owners in keeper leagues. He's not out of the wood completely, though, until a second opinion is performed and he's re-evaluated in about a month. But it looks as though he should be ready for spring training next year, depending on how his rehab goes.

3B | Wilson Betemit | free agent | Transaction, Free Agents
The Baltimore Orioles released 3B Wilson Betemit Tuesday, Sept. 24.

3B | Jeff Keppinger | Chicago White Sox | Injury, Fantasy

3B | Danny Valencia | Baltimore Orioles | Injury, Fantasy
Baltimore Orioles 3B Manny Machado (knee) will not play again this season, but the team is still awaiting word on the results of his MRI exam. 3B Danny Valencia and 2B Ryan Flaherty are candidates to man third base in the final week. 2B Jonathan Schoop could also be an option.

You can drop Machado in redraft leagues. Stay tuned on his MRI results in the meantime; the O's are expected to make a statement later today.

C | Blake Lalli | Milwaukee Brewers | Transaction
Milwaukee Brewers C Blake Lalli cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Nashville Tuesday, Sept. 24.

C | Carlos Ruiz | Philadelphia Phillies | Free Agents, Fantasy
The Philadelphia Phillies have reached out to C Carlos Ruiz and indicated they want him back for the 2014 season. "He knows we'd like to bring him back. We'll see what happens. It wouldn't be the first free agent we've had.… I'd like to have as much balance [in the lineup] as we can, we haven't been very good against left-handers. It's well documented," Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said.

C | Christian Bethancourt | Atlanta Braves | Fantasy
Atlanta Braves manger Fredi Gonzalez said Tuesday, Sept. 24, that C Christian Bethancourt will likely get some playing time before the regular season concludes. However, it might not come until the team's playoff seeding becomes clearer.

C | John Jaso | Oakland Athletics | Injury, Fantasy
Oakland Athletics C John Jaso (concussion) had a hit, two walks and a strikeout in an instructional league game Tuesday, Sept. 24, and he could take simulated at-bats as a designated hitter next week.

Jaso is still unlikely to be on the A's postseason roster.

C | Mike Napoli | Boston Red Sox | Injury, Fantasy

OF | Mike Trout | Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim | Fantasy
According to Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Mike Trout's agent, Craig Landis, the team has had no talks about a long-term contract extension with his client. Trout is making $510,000 this year but is willing to wait for a big contract offer. "I'll answer one question on contract talks -- there have been no discussions," Landis said. "Obviously, Mike's future is extremely bright. We'll be patient. Mike's a young guy. However it goes, he's going to make a lot of money and be a great player." Trout won't be eligible for salary arbitration until 2015, and he's open to signing with another team when he's a free agent after the 2017 season.

OF | Nelson Cruz | Texas Rangers | Fantasy
Texas Rangers OF Nelson Cruz went 5-for-15 with a home run in his first four instructional league games in Arizona.

OF | Jacoby Ellsbury | Boston Red Sox | Injury, Fantasy
Boston Red Sox OF Jacoby Ellsbury (foot) is likely to start in center field and lead off Wednesday, Sept. 25, after being cleared to return to the lineup, according to manager John Farrell. Ellsbury took batting practice Tuesday, Sept. 24, and he's confident he'll be 100 percent healthy during the postseason.

Get Ellsbury back into your lineups immediately.

OF | Will Venable | San Diego Padres | Injury, Fantasy
San Diego Padres OF Will Venable (abdominal) was unavailable Tuesday, Sept. 24, but manager Bud Black appeared to be optimistic that Venable would be able to return before the regular season comes to a close. "We are going to see how this abdominal strain continues to progress, but we are hopeful that he will be back in there. I know that he feels as though he can help us win," Black said.

OF | Michael Bourn | Cleveland Indians | Injury, Fantasy
Cleveland Indians OF Michael Bourn (wrist) left the game Tuesday, Sept. 24, against the Chicago White Sox due to a jammed right wrist. He was injured in the fifth inning sliding into second base and he said he could not swing the bat the way he wanted.

OF | Oscar Taveras | St. Louis Cardinals | Injury, Fantasy
St. Louis Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said Tuesday, Sept. 24, that OF Oscar Taveras (ankle) has reported to the team's spring training facility in Florida to begin rehab work. He had season-ending surgery on his ankle in August.

The top prospect is expected to be ready for spring training. He is a great option for those in long-term keeper fantasy formats.

OF | Moises Sierra | Toronto Blue Jays | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, Toronto Blue Jays OF Moises Sierra (ankle) suffered a sprained ankle Tuesday, Sept. 24. He will not play Wednesday, Sept. 25, and he might also be sidelined Thursday, Sept. 26.

OF | Rajai Davis | Toronto Blue Jays | Injury, Fantasy
Toronto Blue Jays OF Moises Sierra (foot) left the game Tuesday, Sept. 24, against the Baltimore Orioles due to an apparent foot or lower leg injury. He was injured tracking down a fly ball to the warning track. OF Rajai Davis replaced him in the field.

OF | Andre Ethier | Los Angeles Dodgers | Injury, Fantasy
Los Angeles Dodgers OF Andre Ethier (ankle) is hoping to return to the starting lineup Wednesday, Sept. 25.

OF | Carlos Gonzalez | Colorado Rockies | Injury, Fantasy
Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez (finger) is feeling better after receiving a cortisone shot in his sprained right middle finger, and he'll test it with soft toss and batting practice over the next few days. He'll then decide before Nov. 1 if he will need to undergo surgery on the finger. If he has the surgery, he'll need at least two months of recovery time.

OF | Matt Holliday | St. Louis Cardinals | Injury, Fantasy
St. Louis Cardinals OF Matt Holliday (back) remains out of the lineup for the third straight game Tuesday, Sept. 24, with back tightness.

Starting Pitcher

SP | J.D. Martin | Tampa Bay Rays | Transaction,
Tampa Bay Rays SP J.D. Martin cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Durham Tuesday, Sept. 24.

SP | Patrick Corbin | Arizona Diamondbacks | Fantasy,
Though Arizona Diamondbacks SP Patrick Corbin struggled once again on Sunday, Sept. 22, giving up four runs in 4 1/3 innings, the Diamondbacks still have no plans to shut him down. Manager Kirk Gibson said he had an "extensive conversation" with trainer Ken Crenshaw about whether they're making the right decision by letting him continue to pitch even if he's tiring.

SP | Mike Pelfrey | Minnesota Twins | Fantasy,
Minnesota Twins SP Mike Pelfrey earned a $100,000 bonus by crossing the 150-inning threshold on Monday, Sept. 23. He has expressed interest to management in returning to the Twins next season.

SP | Michael Wacha | St. Louis Cardinals | Fantasy,
St. Louis Cardinals SP Michael Wacha has a no-hit bid ended with two outs in the ninth inning Tuesday, Sept. 24, against the Washington Nationals. 3B Ryan Zimmerman chopped one over the mound for an infield single. He was lifted immediately after the hit, as he has thrown a career-high 112 pitches. "I guess it just wasn't meant to be," Wacha said. "I came in with all intentions to just get the win." He struck out a career-high nine batters. RP Trevor Rosenthal secured the final out, nailing down his second save in as many days.

SP | Madison Bumgarner | San Francisco Giants | Fantasy,
San Francisco Giants SP Madison Bumgarner will rest of the remainder of the season, with SP Barry Zito taking Bumgarner's final turn in the rotation Wednesday, Sept. 25.

SP | Kris Medlen | Atlanta Braves | Fantasy,
Atlanta Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez has not yet made his rotation official for the National League Division Series, but his alignment for the rest of the regular season indicates the team might be positioning SP Kris Medlen to start Game 1 of the NLDS.

SP | Danny Hultzen | Seattle Mariners | Injury, Fantasy,
Updating a previous item, Seattle Mariners SP Danny Hultzen (shoulder) will receive a second opinion on his injured left shoulder next week. Dr. Edward Khalfayan, the team's physician, didn't like what he saw on the initial visit. "Ed saw him and quite frankly he doesn't like what he sees," general manager Jack Zduriencik said. "He saw some damage that he was unhappy with. It's not the rotator cuff. It's the tendon area, labrum area."

This is bad news for one of the team's most promising pitching prospects. If he needs surgery on his labrum, he'll likely be lost for most, if not all, of next season.

SP | CC Sabathia | New York Yankees | Injury, Fantasy,
New York Yankees SP CC Sabathia (hamstring), whose season has ended due to a Grade 2 hamstring strain, said he will return to his ace-like self next season with a major change in his preparation. "I think I'll be back to myself," Sabathia said. "I know a lot of people have written me off and said that I've thrown too many innings, whatever, whatever, but I'll still be here and still be accountable and still be the guy that signed up for 2009." He finishes the season 14-13 with a 4.78 ERA. His ERA is the sixth worst among starters this year that qualify. Sabathia said he will also begin to watch video of hitters, something he's always refused to do before. His velocity dropped from 94 mph last year to 91 mph this year, too. Sabathia doesn't blame his slimmer build as a reason for his poor season.

Sabathia clearly isn't the dominant ace he once was, and he may not even be a No. 1 fantasy starter anymore. With the velocity dropping, his strikeout numbers won't be what the were, either. Expect less in 2014, but for the right price, he still has value.

SP | Wily Peralta | Milwaukee Brewers | Injury, Fantasy,
Milwaukee Brewers SP Wily Peralta (finger) won't make his final start of the season because of a blister and the fact that his innings limit is high in his first full season.

SP | Justin Masterson | Cleveland Indians | Injury, Fantasy,
