Quarterback

QB | Cam Newton | Carolina Panthers | Fantasy
Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said he's not partial to running a high-octane, up-tempo offense in the NFL. The Panthers and QB Cam Newton ran a league-low 50 total plays in Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks. "I'm not quite sure what the real, true benefit is other than having a few more plays," Rivera said. "People say, 'Well, you get 75, 80 plays going faster.' You also can go 1-2-3 and out faster and put the other team back on the field faster. So which is it?" Newton also attempted only three passes of more than 10 yards down the field.

Newton is playing in a more conservative, ball-control offense that has limited his fantasy value. However, the Panthers realize this and are planning on opening up their playbook a little more. Newton should have more success in Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills defense.

QB | Ryan Tannehill | Miami Dolphins | Fantasy
Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill said the team wants to throw the ball to WR Mike Wallace but will not force throws to him. "I'm going to play the quarterback position the way the coaches install the plays," Tannehill said. "I'm going to go through the reads just like they install it. We're going to try and get him the ball when he's in the play, but we're not going to force him the ball."

Wallace did not get many targets in the team's Week 1 game but should get more throws going his way as the season goes on. He should be considered a starter in most weeks but likely will be more like a No. 2 receiver.

QB | Blaine Gabbert | Jacksonville Jaguars | Injury, Fantasy
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blaine Gabbert (thumb, hand) did not practice Thursday, Sept. 12.

QB | Mark Sanchez | New York Jets | Injury, Fantasy
New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez (shoulder) is "pleasantly surprised" by his "progress" and intends to rehab his shoulder with hopes of playing again this year. Sanchez feels he won the quarterback competition between himself and QB Geno Smith in the preseason before being injured. "I won the competition. There's no doubt," Sanchez said.

Sanchez could return later this year, but he's likely to need surgery on his shoulder at some point in the offseason. Sanchez's injury gives the Jets an excuse to let Smith run with the job and learn by trial and error. Sanchez shouldn't be anywhere close to your fantasy radar.

Running Back

RB | Daryl Richardson | St. Louis Rams | Injury, Fantasy
St. Louis Rams RB Daryl Richardson (foot) practiced in full Friday, Sept. 13, and is probable for Week 2.

RB | Shonn Greene | Tennessee Titans | Injury, Fantasy
Tennessee Titans LB Zaviar Gooden (ankle) and OT David Stewart (calf) both fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 13, and are questionable for Week 2. RB Shonn Greene (knee) and WR Damian Williams (hamstring) both did not practice and are questionable.

RB | Jordan Todman | Jacksonville Jaguars | Injury, Fantasy
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Jordan Todman (shoulder), OG Uche Nwaneri (knee) and DT Roy Miller (knee) all were limited in practice Friday, September 13, and are probable for the team's Week 2 game.

RB | Le'Veon Bell | Pittsburgh Steelers | Injury, Fantasy
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (foot) did not practice Friday, Sept. 13.

RB | Bernard Pierce | Baltimore Ravens | Injury, Fantasy
Baltimore Ravens DT Arthur Jones (illness) and RB Bernard Pierce (thigh) were both limited in practice Friday, Sept. 13, and are questionable for Week 2.

RB | Da'Rel Scott | New York Giants | Injury, Fantasy
New York Giants RB Da'Rel Scott (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 13, and is probable for Week 2.

RB | Kenjon Barner | Carolina Panthers | Injury, Fantasy
Carolina Panthers RB Kenjon Barner (foot) and CB James Dockery (thumb) have been ruled out for Week 2. Barner missed practice Friday, Sept. 13, and Dockery was limited.

RB | Vick Ballard | Indianapolis Colts | Injury, Transaction, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts RB Vick Ballard (knee) will miss the rest of the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in practice Thursday, Sept. 12. He will undergo season-ending surgery and has already been put on Injured Reserve. Ballard was injured in a non-contact drill Thursday. RB Ahmad Bradshaw will now take the lead running back duties, with RB Donald Brown sharing touches.

RB | LeSean McCoy | Philadelphia Eagles | Fantasy
Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy wants the team to spread the ball around better on offense. "I didn't mind it Monday night," McCoy said. "I think we can do a better job rotating because it's a long season. I don't think I need to have the ball 31, 32 times in a game for us to be a successful offense. We have too many different weapons. I think the running backs we have here can definitely play. Bryce Brown showed you last year he's definitely a talented back. So I think we have to do a better job of monitoring the reps."

RB | David Wilson | New York Giants | Fantasy
New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin and offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride would not say if RB David Wilson will be the starting running back for Week 2. Wilson is expected to get the start if he can hold onto the ball.

RB | Rashard Mendenhall | Arizona Cardinals | Injury, Fantasy
Arizona Cardinals RB Rashard Mendenhall (hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 12.

RB | Ben Tate | Houston Texans | Injury, Fantasy
Houston Texans RB Ben Tate (shoulder) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 12.

RB | Arian Foster | Houston Texans | Injury, Fantasy
Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (calf) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 12.

RB | Jamaal Charles | Kansas City Chiefs | Injury, Fantasy
Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (quadriceps) was limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 12.

RB | Maurice Jones-Drew | Jacksonville Jaguars | Fantasy
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew (non-injury) practiced in full Thursday, Sept. 12.

RB | Lance Dunbar | Dallas Cowboys | Injury, Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar (foot) and S Danny McCray (hamstring) practiced in full Thursday, Sept. 12.

RB | Reggie Bush | Detroit Lions | Injury, Fantasy
Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (finger, groin) practiced in full Thursday, Sept. 12.

RB | Trent Richardson | Cleveland Browns | Fantasy
Cleveland Browns RB Trent Richardson, who ran the ball 13 times for 47 yards in the Week 1 loss to the Miami Dolphins, made it known that he'd like to have a bigger workload. "I just don't think they stopped the running game," he said, referring to the Dolphins. "I think we stopped it ourselves as far as we were behind and stuff like that. We've just got to keep fighting and know that no matter what, we've got to stick to our game plan. I guess Coach had another game plan and it went that way." Richardson didn't receive a single carry in the fourth quarter with the team trailing.

The Browns are already planning on giving T-Rich the ball at least 20 times in Week 2 against the Baltimore Ravens. However, if they fall behind early, his carries could tail off once again near the end of the game. Richardson should still be seen as an RB1, for now.

Wide Receiver

WR | Kenny Britt | Tennessee Titans | Fantasy
Tennessee Titans WR Kenny Britt, after catching only one pass for 15 yards in the team's Week 1 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, said he wants more work. Britt was targeted only twice as the team used a run-heavy attack. "I still believe in me, Jake (Locker) still believes in me," Britt said. "Any game I can have some catches and help the team get a W is good with me. … I just roll with the flow because I am a team player, and whatever helps us get that W is what matters in the long run. I'd like to see a playoff game and a Super Bowl this year." Offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains plans to use Britt more often in the future, too.

WR | Roddy White | Atlanta Falcons | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith said WR Roddy White (ankle) would play in the team's Week 2 game.

While it is good news that White is expected to play, there is a very real possibility he could be used as a decoy much in the same way he was in Week 1. Check back Sunday for any updates, but if you have any healthy options, it may be wise to look in that direction until White can do more during the week.

WR | Larry Fitzgerald | Arizona Cardinals | Injury, Fantasy
Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Week 2.

Fitzgerald could be a game-time decision, so owners will have to monitor the inactive lists to see if he will play. If he does not play, Michael Floyd and Andre Roberts likely will have increased fantasy value for Week 2. If Fitzgerald is able to play, he should be seen as a borderline No. 1 receiver because he could be limited with the hamstring injury.

WR | Julio Jones | Atlanta Falcons | Injury, Fantasy
Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (knee) was limited in practice Friday, Sept. 13, and is questionable for the team's Week 2 game.

Jones was limited in practice Thursday as well, so there are some concerns here. Even if he gets on the field Sunday, he may not be at full speed. Check back Sunday morning to see if he is active. If he does play, he is a must start in all formats, especially with Roddy White dealing with his own injury issues.

WR | Wes Welker | Denver Broncos | Injury, Fantasy
Denver Broncos WR Wes Welker (ankle) practiced in full Friday, Sept. 13, and is probable for Week 2.

WR | Eric Decker | Denver Broncos | Injury, Fantasy
Denver Broncos WR Eric Decker (shoulder) practiced in full Friday, Sept. 13, and is probable for Week 2.

WR | Cecil Shorts | Jacksonville Jaguars | Injury, Fantasy
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Cecil Shorts (groin) was limited in practice Friday, Sept. 13, and is probable for the team's Week 2 game.

WR | Calvin Johnson | Detroit Lions | Fantasy
Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson will be covered by Arizona Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson in Week 2. Johnson had 10 grabs for 121 yards but didn't find the end zone last season against Peterson and the Cardinals. Peterson said he is just focused on limited Johnson from big plays. Johnson had only four catches for 37 yards in Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings. Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles said Peterson won't be left one-on-one all day against Johnson.

Peterson is one of the better cover corners in the NFL, but the matchup against Megatron shouldn't scare you away from starting Johnson. If last year was any indication, Johnson could easily triumph in the matchup.

WR | Mike Wallace | Miami Dolphins | Fantasy
Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill said the team wants to throw the ball to WR Mike Wallace but will not force throws to him. "I'm going to play the quarterback position the way the coaches install the plays," Tannehill said. "I'm going to go through the reads just like they install it. We're going to try and get him the ball when he's in the play, but we're not going to force him the ball."

Wallace did not get many targets in the team's Week 1 game but should get more throws going his way as the season goes on. He should be considered a starter in most weeks but likely will be more like a No. 2 receiver.

WR | Sidney Rice | Seattle Seahawks | Injury, Fantasy
Seattle Seahawks WR Sidney Rice (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 12.

WR | Danny Amendola | New England Patriots | Injury, Breaking, Fantasy
New England Patriots WR Danny Amendola (groin) is expected to miss two to six weeks because of his groin injury.

Amendola has dealt with injuries in the past, so this should not be a total surprise. Julian Edelman, Kenbrell Thompkins and Aaron Dobson should become more involved in the passing, which will increase their fantasy value. The Patriots could also lean on their running game more with Stevan Ridley getting most of that work.

WR | Marques Colston | New Orleans Saints | Injury, Fantasy
New Orleans Saints WR Marques Colston (foot) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 12.

WR | Dez Bryant | Dallas Cowboys | Injury, Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant (foot) practiced in full Thursday, Sept. 12.

WR | Brandon Gibson | Miami Dolphins | Injury, Fantasy
Miami Dolphins WR Brandon Gibson (wrist) practiced in full Thursday, Sept. 12.

Tight End

TE | Jermichael Finley | Green Bay Packers | Injury, Fantasy
Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley (toe) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 13, and is listed as probable for Week 2.

It appears like Finley will be healthy enough to play Week 2 and should be a solid starting tight end option in all fantasy leagues.

TE | Joel Dreessen | Denver Broncos | Injury, Fantasy
Denver Broncos TE Joel Dreessen (knee) did not practice Friday, Sept. 13, and has been ruled out for Week 2.

Julius Thomas will remain the starting tight end, probably even when Dreessen is fully healthy. Thomas is a nice low-end TE1 against the New York Giants in Week 2.

TE | Marcedes Lewis | Jacksonville Jaguars | Injury, Fantasy
Jacksonville Jaguars TE Marcedes Lewis (calf) did not participate in practice Friday, Sept. 13, and is doubtful for the team's Week 2 game.

TE | Heath Miller | Pittsburgh Steelers | Injury, Fantasy
Pittsburgh Steelers TE Heath Miller (knee) was limited in practice Friday, Sept. 13.

TE | Dwayne Allen | Indianapolis Colts | Injury, Fantasy
Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (hip) said he is feeling great and hopes to be able to play Week 2.

TE | Rob Housler | Arizona Cardinals | Injury, Fantasy
Arizona Cardinals TE Rob Housler (ankle) did not participate in practice Thursday, Sept. 12.

TE | Owen Daniels | Houston Texans | Injury, Fantasy
Houston Texans TE Owen Daniels (back, groin) did not participate in practice Thursday, Sept. 12.

TE | Rob Gronkowski | New England Patriots | Injury, Fantasy
The New England Patriots are hoping TE Rob Gronkowski (back, forearm) will be able to play Week 3. Gronkowski will be able to play by Week 4.

Gronkowski was expected to miss the first few games of the season, so this timetable seems to be right. Gronkowski will be a No. 1 fantasy tight end when he comes back as long as he does not suffer any setbacks.

Place Kicker

PK | Dustin Hopkins | Buffalo Bills | Injury, Fantasy
Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone said PK Dustin Hopkins (groin) may try to kick before the team's Week 2 game but will most likely wait until Monday, Sept. 16. Hopkins has been ruled out for Week 2, and PK Dan Carpenter will handle all of the kicking duties.

PK | Shaun Suisham | Pittsburgh Steelers | Injury, Fantasy
Pittsburgh Steelers CB Curtis Brown (illness), DT Steve McClendon (hamstring) and PK Shaun Suisham (hamstring) practiced in full Friday, Sept. 13.
