First Baseman

1B | Adam Dunn | Chicago White Sox | Fantasy
Chicago White Sox DH Adam Dunn has cleared waivers. He's owed nearly $20 million through 2014.

1B | Albert Pujols | Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim | Fantasy
Former MLB 1B Jack Clark, who now is an analyst for WGNU 920 AM in St. Louis, said Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols' former trainer, Chris Mihlfeld, told him he used to "shoot him up" in the early 2000s, referring to Pujols. Mihlfeld "had told me what he was doing with 'Poolie' - threw him batting practice, worked him out, shot him up, all that stuff," Clark said. Mihlfeld came under fire in 2006 with his link to RP Jason Grimsley. Pujols denied allegations then. Clark said he consulted Mihlfeld for a nutrition program in 2000, and Mihlfeld suggested steroids. "He had told me he had done that with Pujols, with steroids, and I really never thought too much about it because steroids were really not on my radar screen at that time," Clark said.

Second Baseman

Updating previous reports, Philadelphia Phillies 2B Chase Utley can earn an extra $5 million in his new deal if he is not on the disabled list for more than 15 days due to a knee injury. "You go through runs where you get cold, you get hot," Francona said. "Cabby's got a pretty good track record. If you move Cabby too soon, say, down to sixth or seventh, he's going to get hot. It's like if you're playing 50 bucks, 50 bucks, 50 bucks, and all of a sudden you get hot and you're playing for five. He's going to get hot, and I'd like to get the most out of it and keep him where he is. "

Ramirez hasn't played since jamming his right shoulder jumping into the stands Sunday, Aug. 4. "He looks good," Mattingly said. "Talking to the medical department, Hanley just keeps advancing. He's moving around today even better than yesterday. I would think if this keeps going like this he will try to hit a ball off a tee or something today." Mattingly said it's doubtful that Ramirez will be available Thursday, Aug. 8, though. There's a better chance that he will pinch hit this weekend.

"He's going to be able to throw and he's going to be able to hit and doing a lot of that stuff but we're probably still a little bit away from sprinting and cutting and stopping, that's going to be the problem. I know they're doing some running in place and keep progressing." Kemp is wearing an ankle brace and is unable to run right now. General manager Ned Colletti said Kemp might not be back until September, but Kemp said he would be back sometime this month.
