There is no evidence the Pittsburgh Pirates are very interested in Morneau at this time.

He stayed in St. Louis during the All-Star break to receive treatment. He's also tested it with some light running, but he must prove that he can run at full speed before he'll rejoin the lineup. "We'll see," was his response to a question about whether he'd be in the lineup for the club's game on Friday, July 19, against the San Diego Padres. Still, MLB.com's Jenifer Langosch surmises that Holliday's improvement thus far suggests that he'll be able to avoid the disabled list.

St. Louis Cardinals P Carlos Martinez will remain in the team's bullpen for the next seven to 10 days, according to general manager John Mozeliak. The GM said that the organization has to get him into a rotation by then if they want to keep him stretched out to start. The Cardinals don't need a fifth starter until July 27, so if they don't use him then, he'll likely be sent down.
