1B | Yonder Alonso | San Diego Padres | Injury, Fantasy
San Diego Padres 1B Yonder Alonso (hand) is still sore, and he was out of the lineup again Wednesday, June 5. Alonso hit Tuesday, June 4, and apparently the volume of hitting caught up to him. However, a stint on the 15-day disabled list is considered unlikely.

1B | Edwin Encarnacion | Toronto Blue Jays | Fantasy
Toronto Blue Jays 1B Edwin Encarnacion made his fifth appearance at third base Wednesday, June 5, against the San Francisco Giants. With the team returning home Friday, June 7, Encarnacion will shift back to his regular first base position. He had been moved across the diamond to allow manager John Gibbons to get 1B Adam Lind into the lineup at first base since the team did not have the designated hitter spot in a National League park.

1B | Albert Pujols | Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim | Fantasy
Chicago Cubs manager Dale Sveum said that it has become easier to pitch to Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols these days. "He's come down to being more human, that's for sure," Sveum said. "At one point in his career, you pitch around him, you walk him, you do all kinds of things. But you didn't want him to beat you. Now he's a little more able to be pitched to." Pujols is hitting only .244 with nine home runs and 35 RBIs this season.

SS | Jose Reyes | Toronto Blue Jays | Injury, Fantasy
Toronto Blue Jays SS Jose Reyes (ankle) hopes to start a rehab assignment in a couple of weeks, and manager John Gibbons thinks Reyes can meet his three-month timetable to return. Reyes is wearing a brace that he plans to use for the rest of his career to help stabilize his ankle, and he doesn't think it'll affect his speed or ability to move in the field. "I'm still going to have my stuff. I'm very confident in myself that I'm going to come back stronger," he said. "I feel that if I'm not 100 percent, but if I feel like I can help this club at 85-90 percent, I'm going to be on the field." He's been swinging a bat for a week but must run the bases and field groundballs on back-to-back days before he can play in games again.

SS | Tyler Greene | Chicago White Sox | Transaction
Chicago White Sox INF Tyler Greene cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Charlotte Wednesday, June 5.

Third Baseman

3B | Alberto Callaspo | Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim | Fantasy

Manager Mike Scioscia said he is not worried about Callaspo's defense. "Every player, from time to time, is going to have some little glitches - Alberto has been hit with his this week," Scioscia said. "I think it's just a little slump and he'll be back where he needs to be."

3B | Brett Lawrie | Toronto Blue Jays | Injury, Fantasy
Toronto Blue Jays 3B Brett Lawrie (ankle) has not had any noticeable signs of improvement since suffering a sprained left ankle May 27. There is no immediately timetable for Lawrie's return. "Still swollen, still painful," manager John Gibbons said Wednesday, June 5, of Lawrie's condition. "It's more than we expected early on, but you never know. Those high ankle sprains are the worst kind."

3B | Will Middlebrooks | Boston Red Sox | Injury, Fantasy
Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell said 3B Will Middlebrooks (back), who's currently on a rehab assignment, will need to improve his swing to rejoin the team. Middlebrooks is eligible to return from the disabled list Sunday, June 9, but he might not return just yet. He had a slash line of only .201/.234/.408 when he went on the DL, with 20 extra-base hits in 174 at-bats and 54 strikeouts and only seven walks.

3B | Adrian Beltre | Texas Rangers | Injury, Fantasy
Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre (hamstring) is back in the lineup and is hitting cleanup Wednesday, June 5.

C | Yadier Molina | St. Louis Cardinals | Fantasy
St. Louis Cardinals C Yadier Molina has dropped his appeal of a one-game suspension and is serving the suspension Wednesday, June 5.

C | Jesus Sucre | Seattle Mariners | Injury, Transaction, Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Seattle Mariners C Brandon Bantz has been recalled from Triple-A Tacoma. C Jesus Sucre (hand) has his hand in a soft cast; he's expected to miss a few days. OF | Brennan Boesch | New York Yankees | Injury, Fantasy

OF | Peter Bourjos | Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Peter Bourjos (hamstring) is aiming Monday, June 10, to return from the 15-day disabled list. He will play center field in a minor-league rehab game for Class A Inland Empire Thursday, June 6, before joining Triple-A Salt Lake Friday, June 7. "Three days in Salt Lake, then we'll see where he is," manager Mike Scioscia said Wednesday, June 5. "Hopefully he's ready."

OF | Shane Victorino | Boston Red Sox | Injury, Fantasy
Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell said Wednesday, June 5, that the team will be careful with OF Shane Victorino (hamstring) when he returns from his minor-league rehab assignment. The rehab stint is expected to last three to four games, depending on how Victorino feels. When he does return, Farrell said a plan is already in place. "We've already spoken to Shane about upon his return to us," Farrell said. "We've got to manage how many consecutive games he plays a little more diligently than previously. It wouldn't be uncommon to see him two on, one off for the short term."

OF | Jacoby Ellsbury | Boston Red Sox | Injury, Fantasy

OF | Craig Gentry | Texas Rangers | Fantasy
Texas Rangers OF Craig Gentry would become the starter in right field if OF Nelson Cruz is suspended for his connection to an anti-aging clinic, Biogenesis, during MLB's ongoing investigation of performance-enhancing drugs. Gentry would also play right field if Cruz is injured and forced to miss extensive time. 1B Mitch Moreland would likely not be moved to right field if the team were without Cruz for a stretch.

OF | Juan Lagares | New York Mets | Fantasy
New York Mets OF Juan Lagares will be given a two-day audition in center field over OF Rick Ankiel, but the starts are more likely to be based off of pitching matchups more than anything. Manager Terry Collins thinks that Lagares needs to lay off more pitches outside the strike zone to be effective in the majors.

OF | Chris Heisey | Cincinnati Reds | Injury, Fantasy
Cincinnati Reds OF Chris Heisey (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville Friday, June 7, and he'll play through the weekend, at least.

OF | Ryan Braun | Milwaukee Brewers | Fantasy
Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun is taking the same stance he did in spring training now that a report Tuesday, June 4, indicated that Major League Baseball is seeking to suspend Braun and others for their connection to Biogenesis, a clinic in Miami reportedly accused of selling performance-enhancing drugs to players. "I assume I know why everybody's here," he said. "I've already addressed everything related to the Miami situation. I addressed it in spring training. I will not make any further statements about it. The truth has not changed."

OF | Oscar Taveras | St. Louis Cardinals | Injury, Fantasy
St. Louis Cardinals OF Oscar Taveras (ankle) has missed three weeks with what the organization is now defining as a high ankle sprain, which is more serious than was previously reported. The club has scaled back his activities so that he has time to heal. Taveras hasn't yet been in line for a promotion, and the Cards don't have a need, so this is no loss for fantasy owners. There's no benefit to pushing him, especially with those caveats in mind. Perhaps, sometime after the break, he'll make his way up, if there's an injury or Jon Jay is still struggling by then.

OF | Yasiel Puig | Los Angeles Dodgers | Fantasy
Los Angeles Dodgers OF Yasiel Puig clubbed his first two major league home runs in a win over the San Diego Padres Tuesday, June 4, and he drove in five runs.

SP | Cliff Lee | Philadelphia Phillies | Fantasy,
Philadelphia Phillies SP Cliff Lee said he would like to stay with the team and avoid being traded this summer. "Yeah, this is where I signed as a free agent and this is where I want to be," said Lee, who is in the third season of a five-year deal that guarantees him $62.5 million beyond this season. "But I definitely want to win, there's no doubt about that. That's the main thing." The New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Texas Rangers and Baltimore Orioles are among the teams that will need Lee's permission in order to trade for him.

SP | Wei-Yin Chen | Baltimore Orioles | Injury, Fantasy,

There is no timetable for his return.

SP | Julio Teheran | Atlanta Braves | Fantasy,
Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran took a no-hitter into the eighth inning in his victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates Wednesday, June 5. Teheran won his fourth game while allowing just one hit, walking two and striking out a career-high 11 in eight shutout innings. He threw 79 of his 107 pitches for strikes during the outing to lower his ERA to 3.30. Teheran said the key was keeping the hitters off-balance with his slider.

SP | Roy Oswalt | Colorado Rockies | Fantasy,

Oswalt feels strong after making his third start for Tulsa. He's giving up 14 hits while walking four and striking out 14 in 18 innings, and he'll likely make one more start for Tulsa. Oswalt can opt out of his minor league deal on June 18 and June 28 if he's not on the major league roster.

SP | Hector Santiago | Chicago White Sox | Injury, Fantasy,
Chicago White Sox SP Hector Santiago will re-enter the starting rotation to take the place of SP Jake Peavy (rib), who will rest for the next four to six weeks with a non-displaced fracture on his left side. SP | Jonathon Niese | New York Mets | Injury, Fantasy,

"It's nice to throw a bullpen without feeling any soreness or pain," Niese said. "I kept the arm angle up and made some pitches in the bullpen that had probably 85 or 90 percent intensity and felt really good. I'm pretty confident that I feel good. How it felt before, in between each start, was night-and-day difference from how it felt today. It was good to get that rest."

SP | Johnny Cueto | Cincinnati Reds | Injury, Fantasy,
Cincinnati Reds SP Johnny Cueto (lat) is back on the disabled list, but manager Dusty Baker said Cueto's injury isn't as serious as the one that forced him to the DL earlier this year. "It's the same thing," Baker said. "It's not nearly as serious. We've got to get rid of whatever's there. It's the injury he had before. He felt it a little bit after the game in Pittsburgh. He told us after the game he felt it again. It's not nearly as bad. Being cautious is the way to go at this thing." Baker said Cueto will only miss one or two starts.

SP | Tyler Chatwood | Colorado Rockies | Injury, Fantasy,
Colorado Rockies SP Tyler Chatwood (triceps) is expected to miss his next start Saturday, June 8, after an MRI exam showed a slight triceps hyperextension. Trainer Keith Dugger said it was the "best-case scenario."

"Obviously the surgery was what we thought it was, and so far the rehab has been very good. I feel strong, I feel smoother, I feel a difference, so I'm very pleased with the outcome and the direction we're headed." There is no timetable for his return, however. He said the range of motion he has now in his shoulder is the best it's been in the last three years.

SP | James McDonald | Pittsburgh Pirates | Injury, Fantasy,

SP Charlie Morton (elbow) will throw a side session Wednesday, June 5, and make his fourth start for Indianapolis Saturday, June 8, where the team hopes he can throw 95 pitches. Morton is returning from Tommy John surgery, and the club won't rush him back into the rotation.

SP | Gerrit Cole | Pittsburgh Pirates | Injury, Fantasy
Pittsburgh Pirates SP Wandy Rodriguez (undisclosed) left the club's game at the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday, June 5, with an apparent arm injury. The left-hander had faced four batters, recording one out and allowing a run on two hits. SP | Marco Estrada | Milwaukee Brewers | Injury, Transaction, Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy,
Milwaukee Brewers SP Marco Estrada (hamstring) has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring. "My hips were coming open a little bit too soon, and I think I was showing them the ball a little bit too early and it was taking away some of the life that I have on my fastball, because I wasn't staying behind it as long.
