New York Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner said the team is disappointed in 3B Alex Rodriguez (hip) but eventually downplayed his frustration with the injured veteran. Steinbrenner refused to say whether the disappointment stems from poor on-field play or allegations of off-field misconduct.

"There have no doubt been times that we've been disappointed in him and we've conveyed that to him," Steinbrenner said."He understands that. Look, everybody is human. Everybody makes mistakes. If you've got a guy over the course of 10 years, there are going to be times any of us makes mistakes in that period of time."

Last year, base stealers were successful 52 percent of the time. "It's something I've done pretty well," Hanigan said. "I get excited if guys try to steal. I have a lot of confidence in that part of my game."

C | Mike Zunino | Seattle Mariners | Fantasy
Seattle Mariners C Mike Zunino, who is hot with the stick at Triple-A Tacoma and is among the Class AAA leaders in home runs with 11, said he's been focusing more on his defense this season. "That's the most important aspect. I'm working on receiving, and throwing and my whole game back there," he said. "That's what's going to prolong a career. The bat will be there. But I know I can't overlook the defensive side of things, and that's what I'm working on this year." Zunino has only three passed balls and has thrown out 27 percent of base stealers in 39 games.

And so we're going to take a day, take that half-step back and get him to take two steps forward."

He's also sporting a nine-game hitting streak with a .297 batting average during that time. Coghlan hit only .180 in 20 games in April but is hitting .322 in 26 games in May. Former OF Preston Wilson said Coghlan has changed up his hitting mechanics, and Coghlan is now making contact earlier in his swing. Manager Mike Redmond plans to keep Coghlan in the No. 5 spot in the order.

Harper said the injury won't make him change his style of play, and he said he likely would have played through it had it been later in the season.

The secondary pitches were there. It was another good step." The next step in his rehab will depend on how he feels in the coming days. Carpenter could throw two or three similar sessions before being considered for a rehab outing.
