New York Mets 1B Ike Davis and SS Ruben Tejada met with the coaching staff before the game Wednesday, May 29, and were informed that they were both on the verge of being demoted to the minors. "There are guys who play very well when they're comfortable, and then maybe there's those guys who play a little more aggressively when they're standing on the edge. We'll find out," manager Terry Collins said. Davis entered the day hitting only .152 with four homers and 11 RBIs, and Tejada was hitting .209 with no homers and 10 RBIs. Tejada has also committed eight errors at shortstop, which is the most in the league at that position.

1B | Mark Teixeira | New York Yankees | Injury, Fantasy
New York Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira (wrist) and 3B Kevin Youkilis (back) both appear healthy and ready to return from the disabled list Friday, May 31. Both players will first rehab with Double-A Trenton for two games this week before rejoining the Yankees, though. Teixeira went hitless with a walk Wednesday and Youkilis went hitless with a walk, as well. Teixeira has been pain-free in his rehab but admitted that he's further along from the right side of the plate than the left.

2B | Aaron Hill | Arizona Diamondbacks | Injury, Fantasy
Arizona Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said Wednesday, May 29, that he is hopeful 2B Aaron Hill (hand) will be able to hit soon. "He did strength and exercise today and that went fine," Gibson said. "Hopefully he'll start hitting by the end of the weekend. He'll just progress from there." Gibson added that he expects Hill to go on a minor-league rehab assignment before he returns, and that "could be a ways off."

2B | Dustin Pedroia | Boston Red Sox | Injury, Fantasy
Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell thinks 2B Dustin Pedroia (thumb) is 100 percent recovered from his thumb injury that he suffered on Opening Day this year. He sustained a complete tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb while sliding head first into first base. Pedroia has started all 53 games for the team this year and is hitting .332 on the year. In his last 22 games, he has a slash line of .384/.459/.581 with eight doubles and three home runs.

2B | Gordon Beckham | Chicago White Sox | Injury, Fantasy
Chicago White Sox 2B Gordon Beckham (wrist) will play for Triple-A Charlotte Thursday, May 30, but he's not expect to return from the disabled list until the following week.

2B | Chase Utley | Philadelphia Phillies | Injury, Fantasy
Philadelphia Phillies 2B Chase Utley (oblique) is recovering very slowly from his strained right oblique and is unlikely to return when eligible from the disabled list in 15 days. However, the team is stating that Utley hasn't suffered a setback in his recovery. Utley worked out Tuesday, May 28. "It's just tricky, so we have to be real careful and cautious," general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said. "I still think he feels tenderness in there, so we've got to be careful to not let it get to the point where it becomes more of an injury."

2B | Ian Kinsler | Texas Rangers | Injury, Fantasy
Texas Rangers 2B Ian Kinsler (rib cage) will be out another two weeks with a stress reaction in his rib cage.

New York Yankees SS Derek Jeter (ankle) played catch during batting practice Wednesday, May 29, for the first time since having his walking boot removed from his left foot last week. "I just started throwing today. I've got another test in the next week and a half, and after that I'll know (more)," Jeter said. "I can't run, I can't do anything like that until the next test. We'll wait to see what happens." Jeter's arm was feeling good and he hasn't had much pain or stiffness in his ankle.

Even the last couple of days, he's been taking some throws on the infield and feels like things have really quieted down in his lower back. We feel like he's on schedule for that June 8 activation as well."

Navarro doubled his home run total in the game and raised his average from .200 to .241 in the process.

Outfielder

Boston Red Sox OF Jackie Bradley is back with the big club, but he is not expected to be in the majors for very long. Bradley's role this time around will be coming off the bench. Bradley did not start Wednesday, May 29, against the Philadelphia Phillies, and manager John Farrell said Bradley wouldn't start Thursday, May 30, either. "Not at this point," Farrell said. "Now, when we get into New York, that could change based on the matchups we have there. Certainly left field in New York takes a different look, particularly the ground to cover out there. Fact is, we'd go back to one of the few parks he's been in, so there would also be some comfort level for him there."

The Tampa Bay Rays suspended OF Josh Sale, their first-round pick in 2010, for conduct detrimental to the team Wednesday, May 29. He was suspended after bragging about his unruly behavior at a strip club. "Threw 50 cents at a stripper tonight. First time. Got kicked out and she got so (mad) thought she was gonna cry. You're a stripper. Be thankful," Sale posted. He had just finished up his 50-game suspension after testing positive for methamphetamine and an amphetamine. Sale was playing for Single-A Charlotte.
