Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim C Hank Conger is catching SP C.J. Wilson's fifth straight start, but manager Mike Scioscia said it has more to do with C Chris Iannetta's struggles. Scioscia isn't necessarily trying to pair Conger with Wilson. "First and foremost, we want him to get a little more of a comfort level behind the plate. He's doing a good job, but it just doesn't look like he's as comfortable as he needs to be back there. On the offensive side, he hasn't gotten a lot of hits to fall in, but that's secondary to what our starting pitchers need especially," Scioscia said.

SP Jeanmar Gomez will make the start against the Seattle Mariners Tuesday.

SP | Sonny Gray | Oakland Athletics | Injury, Fantasy,
Oakland Athletics SP Sonny Gray would be the likely choice to take a rotation spot if SP Jarrod Parker (neck) has to go on the disabled list. "He was really pumped up, everything went really well," said manager Dale Sveum, who talked to Garza after the outing. "The hits were a blooper, bunt hit, so he was pretty efficient and threw all his pitches 100 percent. His slider was up to 87 mph today. He was getting after it a little bit today."

RP | Joel Hanrahan | Boston Red Sox | Injury, Fantasy,
Boston Red Sox RP Joel Hanrahan (forearm) is out indefinitely with a flexor pronator strain in his right arm, but he is confident he won't need surgery to fix the issue. He will likely seek a second opinion to make sure, however. "After the MRI came back, it was clear that he has inflammation in the right forearm, there is a strain to the right forearm," manager John Farrell said. "It's probably going to be a period of time for a shutdown and a recovery for him, so that's where Joel's at right now." Hanrahan said the injury is similar to the one he had with the Pittsburgh Pirates back in 2010 that caused him to miss six games of the regular season out of spring training.

RP | Cory Wade | free agent | Transaction, Free Agents,
The Chicago Cubs released RP Cory Wade Tuesday, May 7. He had allowed 14 runs and 28 hits while walking seven and striking out 16 in 16 innings over 10 starts with Triple-A Iowa.

"Frankie has got to show us that he can pitch back-to-back days up here -- that he's strong enough," manager Terry Collins said. "We're talking three days in a row. Can he do that? The one thing I don't think we're ready to do is start to juggle our bullpen at this particular moment when Bobby has done such a good job. We'll wait until Frankie gets here to make those determinations." Francisco is within 10 days of returning from his 30-day rehab assignment.

RP | Jose Mijares | San Francisco Giants | Transaction,

RP | Alfredo Aceves | Boston Red Sox | Injury, Fantasy,
Boston Red Sox RP Alfredo Aceves is a logical candidate to be recalled if RP Joel Hanrahan (forearm) has to go back on the disabled list. Aceves threw six scoreless innings with Triple-A Pawtucket last week.

RP | Koji Uehara | Boston Red Sox | Injury, Fantasy,
Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell prefers to leave RP Koji Uehara in the eighth-inning setup role with both RPs Andrew Bailey (biceps) and Joel Hanrahan (forearm) injured. "The one thing I like with Koji is you're going to get those pinch-hit left-handers in the eighth inning, and he's so effective against lefties," Farrell said. "That's where you might get a little bit of that gamesmanship or the matchup capability in the eighth inning." Uehara doesn't typically like to throw on back-to-back days, either, in an effort to keep himself healthy. Farrell also cited that Tazawa has a better fastball than Uehara, which should make him more effective in the closer's role.

RP | Fernando Rodney | Tampa Bay Rays | Fantasy,
