Second Baseman

2B | Donovan Solano | Miami Marlins | Injury, Fantasy
Miami Marlins 2B Donovan Solano (side) is likely headed to the disabled list. He's able to field, but his intercostal strain keeps him from hitting.

SS | Nick Green | Miami Marlins | Transaction

SS | Hanley Ramirez | Los Angeles Dodgers | Injury, Fantasy
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly didn't sound optimistic about the chances of SS Hanley Ramirez (hamstring) returning from the disabled list when he's eligible. "A while ... I hope that puts it in the right category," Mattingly said. "You never really know when a guy's ready or not because you can't ever get to the intensity that you need to get to on the hamstring where you're going to explode and ask for more of your body. It's going to be a while." Ramirez, on the other hand, is hoping for a quick recovery.

SS | Tyler Pastornicky | Atlanta Braves | Fantasy
Atlanta Braves SS Tyler Pastornicky will play second base and the outfield in addition to shortstop at Triple-A Gwinnett as the team grooms him to become a super utility player.

Third Baseman

3B | Alex Rodriguez | New York Yankees | Injury, Fantasy
New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez (hip) has started a 30-day plan Monday, May 6, and the team will re-evaluate him after that. It's likely that he'll begin another 30-day scheduled following that, which puts his return sometime after the All-Star break. "I really hope so. That's as specific as I'll get," Rodriguez said. "But I'm working 24/7 to get back on the field. There's no surprise: The way the season ended last year was very embarrassing. It was very tough on me, and obviously, (for) our team, it was devastating, the sweep against Detroit."

The Houston Astros optioned INF Brandon Laird to Triple-A Oklahoma City Monday, May 6.

C | Drew Butera | Minnesota Twins | Injury
Minnesota Twins general manager Terry Ryan said C Drew Butera (finger) is close to beginning baseball activities and probably will start swinging a bat this week.

C | Evan Gattis | Atlanta Braves | Injury, Fantasy
Atlanta Braves C Evan Gattis, who is starting in left field Monday, May 6, will split time in the outfield, at catcher and at first base now that C Brian McCann (shoulder) is back from the disabled list. However, with McCann making $12 million this year and set to become a free agent after this season, it's believed that McCann won't be brought back in 2014 and Gattis will become the team's primary catcher. Gattis played left field in winter ball, which allows OF Justin Upton to move to right field at least while OF Jason Heyward (appendix) is out.

C | Carlos Ruiz | Philadelphia Phillies | Fantasy
Philadelphia Phillies C Carlos Ruiz went 0-for-2 Sunday, May 5, and is 2-for-20 to start the season since returning from his 25-game suspension.

OF | Rick Ankiel | Houston Astros | Injury, Transaction, Fantasy

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Josh Hamilton, who has a triple slash line of only .208/.255/.296 this season, said he's not worried about his slump to start the season and that he will turn it on eventually at the plate. "It'll come," Hamilton said when asked why it hasn't. "And when it comes, everybody's going to be like, 'Oh, oh, OK.'" Hamilton has 38 strikeouts, which is tied for seventh in the majors, and he's on pace for a career-high 199 punchouts. He recorded his first extra-base hit Sunday, May 5, in three weeks, and his two home runs are the fewest he's had in any 31-game stretch since 2009. Hamilton is swinging at 44.2 percent of pitches outside the strike zone, which is tied for third in the majors.

Jay has raised his average from .204 to .243 and has looked "relaxed" and "smooth" at the plate recently, according to OF Carlos Beltran. "He made some pretty big overhauls to his swing," manager Mike Matheny said. "He has been working hard to find that rhythm. It's not just simplifying the ball sounds different coming off his bat."

Jay previously had a timing mechanism at the plate that involved several hand pumps, but he became too anxious with them at times, which threw off his timing significantly. His bat started to flatten over his back shoulder and his hands came closer to his chest during his slump. A downward loop had been created with his hands that left his swing slow and long. Jay worked with the coach staff to move his hands away from his body, raised his bat perpendicular to his shoulder and made his swing more direct.

OF | Ryan Sweeney | Chicago Cubs | Transaction, Fantasy,
The Chicago Cubs recalled OF Ryan Sweeney and RP Rafael Dolis from the minors and optioned OF Dave Sappelt and designated RP Kameron Loe for assignment in corresponding moves.

SP | Jarrod Parker | Oakland Athletics | Injury, Fantasy
Oakland Athletics SP Jarrod Parker (neck) left the game Monday, May 6, with a neck strain. Parker said the issue has bothered him on and off this season and he has had treatment for it. He believes it might have contributed to him leaving some balls up in the zone and also to a dip in velocity because he isn't getting his usual extension in his delivery. It sounds as if there is some chance he might be shut down to deal with the problem for at least a short time.

SP | Brett Myers | Cleveland Indians | Injury

SP | Tyson Ross | San Diego Padres | Fantasy,
San Diego Padres SP Clayton Richard (illness) lost 12 pounds while dealing with an intestinal virus that he picked up around two weeks ago. "He's sick," manager Bud Black said. "He's getting a little better, then he sort of digresses, then he gets a little better. It's more than just how you get a virus, you throw up, you have diarrhea, two or three days later, you're a little weak, then you start gaining on it." Black thinks Richard's illness has affected his pitching. SP Tyson Ross will pitch out of the bullpen as the team will go with a four-man rotation with two off days in the next two weeks.

SP | Martin Perez | Texas Rangers | Injury, Fantasy,
Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington said SP Martin Perez (wrist) won't be guaranteed a rotation spot when he returns from the disabled list. Perez is making his first rehab start with Double-A Frisco Monday, May 6. "If we all feel that (Nick) Tepesch needs to be here or (Justin) Grimm needs to be here, those other guys are going to have to wait their turn. There's only one guy that I see, when he's ready to go, he's going to be here, that's Mr. Hipster, Colby (Lewis)," Washington said.

Oakland Athletics SP Brett Anderson (ankle) may join the team in a few days and throw a bullpen session.

SP | Roy Halladay | Philadelphia Phillies | Fantasy,

He's already allowed as many home runs (five) with his cutter than he did all of last season. Opponents are batting .433 with a slugging percentage of 1.067 in at-bats that end with Halladay's cut fastball.

SP | Johnny Cueto | Cincinnati Reds | Injury, Fantasy,

SP | Gavin Floyd | Chicago White Sox | Injury, Fantasy,

Relief Pitcher

RP | Carlos Marmol | Chicago Cubs | Fantasy
Chicago Cubs general manager Jed Hoyer was asked why RP Carlos Marmol continues to receive chances to pitch in high-leverage situations. "I think he has a number of more appearances than any other pitcher in baseball over the last four or five years," Hoyer said. "This team has expected a lot out of him for a number of years and ridden him really hard over the last few years. Some of that has probably taken its toll. His fastball and slider aren't what they used to be, but in part, that's because he's been really durable and ridden hard by a number of managers here."

RP | Joel Hanrahan | Boston Red Sox | Injury, Fantasy
Boston Red Sox RP Joel Hanrahan (forearm) left the game Monday, May 6, due to right forearm tightness. He'll be re-evaluated Tuesday, May 7.
